I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary for Jack, who is about to finish his second tub of Joint Guard.
-
You've mentioned his lovely nature before RIP Tex. So sorry this accident cost you your life, but them's the rules.
-
Oh no! I'm sorry to see this, Gail. I'm not sure what happened, but reading between the lines, take solace in the knowledge there is only so much you can control.
RIP Sunny. Play nicely at the bridge.
-
Sorry to hear that, Mel.
RIP Winston

Four is too young, but it sounds like she knew.
Still, I'm sure a lot of happiness was crammed into those four years :p

I gather Penny is gone. I'm so sorry

Give the fella a hug from me, SL. I hope to give him one myself when I get the chance

That's excellent news, mezz! Phew!

Ooh, gorgeous. Congrats on welcoming Chacha to your home

Hi petmezz. I'm sorry to hear that you've found any lumps, let alone more than one.
Getting the lumps tested is the right thing to do, and costs bugger-all relative to getting them cut out. Definitely do it, even if you have to pay the vet in fits and spurts -- if your current vet won't do it, find someone who will!
My dog Jack had a pea-sized lump removed in October last year, and tests came back showing that it was a grade III mast-cell tumour. Thankfully, they got it all. We haven't found any more lumps on him, touch wood, and he's a happy healthy 8yo dog.
I hope the news is good for you.

Oh my, the poor little lady! It's easy to say from behind a computer screen, but try not to worry ... you need some rest!
-
Try this.
It was Westiemum who put me on to this seller for Joint Guard (via DOL) and I agree that they're fantastic. I placed my order and wanted to pay by credit card. Half an hour later, they called me at home to get credit card details from me and I had the parcel a few days later
I see they now have the 750g tub, which is great!

Congrats on the new puppy. I hope she feels better soon, the poor wee thing.

He was a mighty happy lad last time I saw him :p
Couldn't decide between the ladies in the dining room/bar or the blokes watching State of Origin, so he tarted himself all over the place
-
Does he have to wear PJs to keep warm at night now that he's a rudie nudie?
Gomez is a little bit cute

RIP old Sandy.

RIP Benjamin bunny. Sorry for your loss, Tess

I bought a secondhand Breville juicer (not sure of the wattage) years ago and it's still going, although the motor is starting to groan a little
I add brewers' yeast, omega 3/6/9 oil, vit C, Joint Guard, apple cider vinegar and sometimes a free-range egg plus crushed shell or some yoghurt. These are all added after I thaw the frozen mush.
The rest of the time, Jack eats chicken carcasses, wings or necks, and he still has some Science Diet kibble in his Buster Cube of a morning. This last bag seems to take forever to finish The plan is to feed all-raw once that's empty.

If my dog did it to me, I would see it as dominance. But nobody knows your dog as well as you do.
I was more asking if in general, behaviour like that would be considered dominance related. BEFORE I created this thread I was 99.9% sure he just wanted to be close but I was curious as to how others would interpret similar behaviour in dogs. I am not a dog training, I do not have much experience training dogs so I wanted the opinions of more experienced trainers on how they MIGHT interpret such behaviour (so I could look at it from another perspective.)
And I'm saying that, in general, I would consider that behaviour to be dominance related.
I won't let my dog on any of the household furniture. He goes into and out of doors when invited. He eats after me, and only once released. He sits for any form of attention.
But I have only trained my dog. I am therefore not the experienced trainer from whom you sought opinions, so I'll butt out
Good luck with Gizmo.

Congratulations, Kavik and Kaos! Kaos is lovely :D
(Hrm, I use a D300 in the lab and my photos of experiments never look that good )

Another good natural product to add to the fish oil and glucosomine is 'Seatone - Green Lipper Muscles'. We feed this to all of our racing Greyhounds daily as a precaution. The vet said that if they are getting the slightest hint of arthritis is will help
Hi DK I didn't know you had racing greyhounds?! You're a woman of mystery
Poodlefan here on DOL has recommended the mussels to me, too, but I keep forgetting to add them to my shopping list. Thanks for the reminder
Some swear by Ester C as well, as a more readily used form of vitamin C, I think? :D

Jack (8yo 30kg ACD x ) didn't show any signs of stiffness until a few months ago, before it really got cold. The vet believed it was brought about by me jogging with him in the morning, so we're back to a gentle walk now.
It's weird that it didn't show up when we were going herding every month or so.
The diagnosis was early signs of elbow trouble. The remedy was initially an anti-inflammatory injection, and a change in diet -- you're already doing the fish oil, which is great. In consultation with your vet, after ruling out other possible causes, you might look at adding a supplement like Joint Guard or Sasha's Blend with glucosamine etc. Jack has a scoop of Joint Guard each night on his BARF, and I'm careful about keeping him at this weight as he gets less active.
A raised bed may help, too, as you suggest. Jack has always had that, although he sleeps on a cushion in the lounge room by day when we're home.
Time for a vet check, I think.

So when was the last time you had a jaw drop moment at how smart your dog is? Share your story.
I'm still waiting
It's great that Divani just 'gets' things so quickly.
