Dory the Doted One

We have boobie slapping now! She ran past me this morning to go outside, with the unmistakeable "slap, slap, slap" of floppy boobies banging together! :laugh:

Always thought it was more a, "Thop, Thop,Thop" sound myself. :laugh:

I've had boys and girls. Loved em all, good and bad.

I have a leaning towards girls. No particular reason. Although the thought of boys peeing on everything sways my leaning.

Found them all to be fairly even in the affection stakes.

I wonder though, did the people not notice that many socks going AWOL? I like to think I would...

Trufully, some of us have houses that eat socks.

This started with me because I have brothers.

We always had lost socks. Never had a dog that contributed to their being lost.

But lost they would be. In the end, Ma would only buy the same boring black sock or white or blue. Then she had hopes of matching pairs.

Oh and I am my dogs' biggest handicap at any trial we enter.

I'm coming to the conclusion that it's a Rottweiler 'thing'. lol

I don't personally understand the appeal of titling a puppy before six months anyway. What is the point? there is such a short time they are puppies. Why the rush?

Same. Not to mention burning them out.

Willow went through a stick eating period of time. So much she earned the nickname of 'Woodchuck'. We would find poops in the yard that were more splinters than anything. We discouraged her when we could, took them off her when we could and other times she ate them before we knew she had them.

Judging by the lack of 'outdoors' that has come indoors recently, I'd say that phase of her life has past for the moment.

She didn't seem to have any ill effects.

I did wonder whether or not it was just some of her pre-season norties. She gets REALLY obnoxious before she comes into season.

I've given food, clipped dogs and paid for vet treatment when I know it's an issue of money for the owner.

If it's a lame dog or appears to be struggling through an illness/injury I will ask the owner if they are aware that their dog appears to be in discomfort.

If it's how it is being 'trained' or 'punished' I will usually say some thing like, "Do you think that is appropriate? Have you thought to try........?"

Fortunately I haven't seen too much physical abuse, but if I follow form in terms of other physical abuse I've seen perpetuated against people...I'll probably say the first thing that falls out of my mouth and damn the consequence.

Mostly my family and especially since I have a Rottweiler.

A few others have commented that dogs need to be raised a certain way to achieve certain goals.

Meh. She's my pet and companion. I like having her around me within cuddling, tummy rubbing distance. She seems to still do alright.

I knew a lab that was titling at 6mths. Amazing dog to watch. Very happy, disciplined worker.

:laugh: For the small investment in a larger couch, anyone can make space for a Rottweiler in their life.

I loved sheks boy too, were they related ?

Not that I know of, but I don't know his full pedigree either - you never know :)

Nearly 17mths. Still a baby (ok teenager, but always a baby to me :laugh:)

I'm very happy with how she's shaping up. (Could look like a dingo and I'd still love her). And FINALLY we are getting some consistency with her training. Crossing our fingers we are ready for trials next year. I love her versatility.

Willow has earned herself multiple knicknames:-

Thunderpaws - her vicarious and rather heavy footed, happy go lucky, cheeky, love life alter ego.

Twinkletoes - Her silent, ninja, seek and shred alter ego.

Mrs Mangel - Neighbourhood busybody that MUST know what is going out of the front window at ALL times. And she's not shy about it, we are constantly readjusting the curtains so the whole neighbourhood can't peer in.

Woodchuck - She's nearly cleared the pile of sticks and branches I had in the corner of the yard. I haven't had to stuff them into the green waste, but the vacuum cleaner is getting a bit tired. :laugh:

Phar Lap - She likes to gallop around a ring like a racehorse, none of this gliding beautifully stuff...noooooooo...that's not fun.

She also does this amazing high jump over the couch onto her 'crash mat' (Bed). Till we moved her bed.

I love everything about her. Her naughtiness, her cheekiness, her intelligence (often sprung upon you when you least expect it), her vivaciousness.....yeah....everything about her is beautiful.

have always loved Rotties , but at 4ft 11 inches they almost as big as me :laugh:

I'm only 5' - Neo weighs almost as much as I do :)

It's definitely less about physical strength and all about the mental attitude with a Rottweiler. I'm just a shorty too.

If you set them up from the start, they respond VERY well to a stern, "OI!"

Same! Don't think Willow is ready to share and Dory would threaten to move out to a quieter neighborhood.

I was looking back on Willow's puppy pics, and found myself getting clucky.

But no, Willow and Dory keep me PLENTY busy. :laugh:

And who said they aren't lap dogs? Willow cuddles are warm, all encompassing (all compressing). Yes. You feel loved and safe with 43kg reclining on you.

It's not torture for me, I gave in. I'm a sucker for a scruff mutt and Rottweilers, and the bases have been now well covered. So all of the Rottie pictures are now just cream for me. :D

My first Rott stopped me from going on a drunken, midnight bush walk. He was very insistent I not go. When body blocking didn't work, he grabbed my wrist and dragged me back.

I think of all my dogs as my mental health heros. Without them I think I would struggle with life a lot more.

She LOVES it too. First time on and she paraded around pleased as punch, took a while before she would come close enough for us to take it off her. :laugh:

Cos you asked (and I love showing her off :laugh:) Not a proper Hold and Bark, but she had fun showing off in her new clothes.

I think sometimes people think their dogs are fussy but they are just not hungry because they are being fed too much! I know that was the case when my boy was a pup - reducing his food

I did this with Willow. I was stressing about her not eating all her food or eating it at all. I cut it back and she cleaned the bowl and I stopped worrying about her 'lack of appetite'.

Totally in my own head. :laugh:
