  1. I'd like to take a minute here to recognise and thank everyone who helped get Zeus to his carer. The folks from Needy Paws Rescue in Griffith sprung him from the pound and drove him to Narrandera, where I collected him and brought him to Wagga. Melindy, who is a member of BFPR, then gave temp care for a few weeks until he was vetworked and organised for transport to his AWDRI foster home. A great example of different groups working together to get a dog to safety

I really, really need a like button

    Yep...me too

  2. This thread just caught my eye.....had to call a snake catcher yesterday too.

Sitting in lounge on computer when something slithered by and went under tv. I dont know my snakes too well so called the snake guy to be safe....turned out to be an Eastern Brown which apparently are not friendly, lol

Fortunately it must have slithered passed the sleeping dogs

Was told that spraying Phenyl around outside will help keep them away  anyone know if this is true?

He also said that if they're climbers (I see them sometimes on top of the brick wall and on my bathroom louvre window ! )that usually they're not venomous.....is that an old wives tail ?

  3. Have just found this old thread to bump back up again........

Apparently the old kelpie (Kip, about 6-7 years I think ) and also the cat are still in Fernleigh !!!

The owner came out of jail before xmas and used to go to the kennels to see his animals and take Kip for a walk, but he was having a hard time finding a house that would let him keep his pets . He still didnt pay towards their keep at all but Karen agreed to hold them while he found accomodation.

They are still there and owner has ended up in jail again. Costs for these two are around $3000 of which there have been kind donations of around $1500...for which Max and Karen are very grateful.

They cant rehome them unless the owner surrenders them so I think someone from the authorities are going to see him in the jail next week.

These two have been kept in kennels for far too long now so fingers crossed the owner does the right thing and lets them both go to rescue where hopefully they will be able to be in a home again before too long.

  4. My wolfhound had these on both elbows, think they started about 5/6 months.

I also got advised to leave them alone and they will go eventually (which they did ).

Vet said they can insert a drain but didnt advise it, just creates a site for infection to enter. He used to flop down on the tiles all the time...very hard to get them to lie on a soft bed when its so hot.

Rileys were the size of a small grapefruit!

  5. What a stunning boy... but do I see "boy bags" in that last photo?? I'm sure there's a reason they are still there, right?

    T.

What !! ?? Just had to double check pic...he's definately been desexed!! He wouldnt have been rehomed with no vetwork done !!

Adopter drove up from Vic and picked him up from Wagga vet, maybe she took this pic just after she got home and was still a bit swollen.

  6. If all the rescues went for the easy to rehome dogs...ie the littlies and SWF's what would happen to all the bigger, boofer types, the big scruffers, the brindle ones.....etc

I agree the turnover (for want of a better word ) would be faster but its not always about saving the easier ones, they all deserve a chance, but I do understand what you're saying Muttrus.

  7. Maloney has gone on trial to a wonderful new home!! I really hope it works out for him!

We met at the dog park yesterday & they said they weren't going to make any decisions on the day, by the time they left they asked if I could come and do a yard check  then I get there & they ask if he can stay :) They're going on holidays but plan to take him with them & their other dog. Hopefully they will post some pictures on the facebook page soon

Thats great news  Thanks so much for helping him Alex
