Thanks for that Persephone, appreciate it. Our little Frenchie walks really well on leash at present, without any distractions. I will google loose leash walking and see what it says. It would just be nice to take a walk down to letterbox and not have her dart out the front door, but just walk with me, although she is getting a bit better.

Hi It's been quite a few years since I've been on here, and have since got myself a new puppy who is a bit over 6 months old. We have taught her a few tricks and basic obedience like sit stay drop come etc using Steve's TOT, but my ultimate goal would be to walk my dog next to me without leash and for her to walk next to me and not run ahead, cross road or chase other dogs or animals. Wasn't sure if there is another post already on this (Had a quick look) and if not I was thinking of asking Steve from K9 Pro for assistance or program. Thanks in advance

Hi, I was outside yesterday day with my dogs and noticed lots of flies on the my dogs. I didnt take much notice as the flies looked like ordinary house flies. Later in the day I noticed my old girl was really being bothered by them and when I took a closer look the tops of her ears were bleeding and I also found lots of droplets of blood on other parts of her body. When the flies come back they were attracted to the bloody bits. Ive never had this problem before and didnt think these ordinary house flies bite/sting, but I watched them gather on her nose, as it was the only area I didnt spray, and after I shooed them away there was tiny little blood droplets on her nose. I grabbed some low irritant aerodguard and sprayed it over her and it did help, but noticed they were bothering her again today. I dont really want to be putting aeroguard on the dogs and wanted to know if there is anything else that works effectively at keeping them away. Thanks Mel

Hi all Just wanted some information on the dangerous dogs laws in NSW. Its been a while and cant remember a lot of stuff, but was hoping someone could help me out. Some questions i have are: - how many times does a dog have to be reported to council before they declare it to be dangerous? - can this declaration be reversed after a period of time and if the dog can pass a few temp tests? - does this vary from council to council or is it an overall law for NSW? Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Mel

Your last paragraph is what worries me, hence why I would like to talk to a vet that has used this before. I dont just want to get some, wack it on and see what happens.

Hi Erny, yes it is the black salve stuff. I have read quite a bit about it and it seems amazing. I have had enough of spending $850 to $1000 every 8mths or so getting them removed. My bank balance has seriously depleted. A friend of my mums told me about it the other day and she has used it herself for skin cancers with quite success, but there is different versions of it which are not as good. I just want to be able to talk to someone who has used it on recommendation from their vet, especially a vet that is a bit more open minded to alternatives.

Does anybody know of any vets in australia that have used this on dogs with skin cancers. I really want to try it with my boy who's hemangiosarcoma's keep metastisizing, and surgery is just costing me too much now. I have already discussed an alternative treatment once before with my vet and he wasnt too keen. It would be good to be able to talk to a vet who has used this before.

Hi labrat Im not sure of the dosage (at work at moment) but up until a month ago I was giving her 2 fish oil capsules a day and 1 glucosamine/chondroiton capsule per day. I was giving her this before she was diagnosed maybe around 10 months ago. I suppose my main concern is spending a lot of money on her getting the surgery only to find that its not going to work. But you said your old Kelpie was fine after surgery, thats what I like to hear.

Hi Guys My vet has diagnosed Rubi with Cruciate Ligament Damage in her hind legs. Somedays are good and every now and then she has bad days where she cannot physically stand up and put weight on her hind legs. I have tried pentosan injections (1 course = 4 weekly injections) along with fish oil and glucosamine/chondroiton tablets but it still doesnt seem to help. She is not an overweight dog but the vet still wants her to lose around 4kg. She is an extremely active dog which now does not get any time off lead to have a good run as she just collapses and cannot stand. Anyway it has been about 8 months since she was diagnosed and want to hear from anyone whos dog has had surgery and what has been the results. I suppose Im hoping to hear that after surgery she will be able to run around. Cheers
