  1. You'd be looking at between 6 - 10 grand to import, depending on the cost of the dog. My advice would be to also do at least one trip to japan and meet the breeders, unless you have great contacts and trust them completely to select the right dog for you.
  2. yes, that is definately a bonus! LOL
  3. :) He looks like a complete sweetheart Kirstin ;) Osku is out here early next year. As we have to wait anyway, his breeder wants to do the show season over then with him, and campaign him a bit. Looking forward to having him here though!
  4. Looking forward to seeing more winning results there KG - lovely baby :) I have a small brag if I may :) Our swedish boy Osku is being campaigned by his breeder while we wait for him to be old enough to come out :) Last weekend was his second show, at a breed speciality in Sweden under specialist Finnish judge Jukka Kuusisto, (Kennel Lecibsinin) . Little Osku (5 months old) was first best puppy male 4-6 months old, then best puppy male, beating the best puppy from 6-9 months old age group. He then took out BOB -puppy overall (his sister Nalle.Maija was BOS-puppy). He then went on to win BIS-1 puppy, beating the BOB Swedish Lapphund puppy for the in show award. The Judge's critique (translated!) was: Very good proportions, Beautyful head. Good back and body. Good angulations . Lovely tail. Very good gait/Movements. Some pics below: Moving in the ring BIS lineup Free Stacking In front of the judge :)

  8. Hey Lappie showies - a gentle reminder that ENTRIES CLOSE FRIDAY WEEK (May 11th) - so if you haven't sent your entries off we need these ASAP! Because if you miss out you'll be like and and feel like or even a , and you will definately . Whats worse is all those who went will say you should have been there, it was like and there were even (well, maybe not dancing elephants, but the rest is spot on!)
  9. The fibreglass one I have is a whole piece, with no joins and very strong. The edges and corners are all rounded too, so there are no crevaices for the bacteria to hide in. I like your idea with the double door section.
  10. I have a fibreglass one - easy to clean & really lightweight bit really tough too. Would like higher walls but mum still needs to get in & out do not too high. . Different holes for the rails would be good though.

  14. from today's Age online http://www.theage.co...0419-1x89q.html Lap dog lands suspended driver in trouble Megan Levy April 19, 2012 - 7:10AM This could prove to be one very expensive lap dog. A suspended driver who was caught driving with an unrestrained puppy on his lap in Melbourne's inner east yesterday is expected to be charged by police. The 31-year-old man was driving along Hoddle Street in Collingwood when he was pulled over by officers taking part in Operation Knockdown, targeting speed, mobile phone use and seat belt offences in Fitzroy, Collingwood and Richmond. A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers who pulled the Doreen man over found a 12-week-old puppy sitting in the man's lap. The animal was not restrained. A licence check also revealed the man was a suspended driver, the spokeswoman said. The driver is expected to be charged on summons with various traffic offences, including driving with an animal on his lap. As part of Operation Knockdown, police also detected 42 drivers using mobile phones on Swan Street, Richmond and nabbed 16 speeding motorists in school zones in Fitzroy. 15. Hi FL- If I was you I would have a chat to Monash vets re next time, age does depend on breed but 3 should be fine I would have thought. 8 months between cycles is fine too - very normal :) As to stud ettiquitte - generally if you don't get a successful litter, the stud owner will organise for a second attempt. However, there are different arrangements - what does your contract say? I personally wouldn't go the home AI - either a natural mating or a fresh AI at the vets. Doing it at the vets has advantages - they will test the semen to see how viable it is, and will give you an idea of the likeihood of it succeeding (assuming all is ok with your girl). IMO I would much rather have a trained repro vet doing an AI on my female too - if something was to go wrong and you had an infection occur for example, where does it leave you? If its to be a fresh AI, see if the stud owner will meet you there, and if not, at least have the fresh semen delivered to the clinic and let them do the insemmination. A quick question though - is there a reason you went AI and not natural?
  16. so sorry jackofhearts - run free little ones
  17. Becks - my cream boy was a tiny 179grams - half the weight of many of his siblings -& he spent the half the night down my top ;) because he was so little he couldnt keep the heat in & stopped feeding - but he was determined to stay and once warmed up nicely he worked out the milk bar & now had caught up with most of his siblings - hope that your boy does the same ;)
  18. Well done Mirawee- and it's lovely to see the Lappies doing so well in WA!
  19. Lappiemum is he related to any of the other herding instincts dogs in Aus? Hi Esky- He and Markuu share one of the lines on the sire's side, but the other three lines are completely new to Australia. The dam's side has the Bollero line - there are some very nice lappies in that line :)
