  1. I had no problems getting my pup to catch whatever i throw. She would pick it up, and runs back to me but she wouldn't give it to me. She would rub her toy on my feet, wanted me to play razzle with her.
  2. Hi Everyone, I need some advice re. training my pup to sleep in the laundry alone. She is currently sleeping in our bedroom, in a plastic storage box (those from Bunnings). There is a comfy pillow in there for her. When she needs to go to toilet at night, she will sit in her box and whine. So we will lift her up (carry her out of the box), because she can't jump out. The reason we put her in the box because we were afraid that she will pee/poo in the room if we only put her in her normal doggie bed. Now, she is growing (doh!) and getting close to 10kg. It sometimes hurts my back lifting her up from the box. But my partner jsut refused to let her sleep on normal doggie bed in our room, in case accidents happen on our carpet. So my next option is let the pup sleeps in the laundry at night with the baby's gate closed. My pup will usually pee/poo on the newspaper i lay on the floor. When I am at work, she stays in the laundry and doesn't mind at all because she understands that I am going to work. However, whenever I put her in the laundry at night (when she is sleepy), she will whine and bark and wanting to go into our room. It breaks my heart that she is whines and cry in the laundry at night. Friends told me that I just have to put up with the whining a couple of nights then she will be ok. Is that true? Please advise.
  3. My Staffie pup is over 12 weeks old now, her main diet is dry food (Super Coat for pup), but I do mix some vege in the dry food, ie. pumpkin, carrot, potato (all mashed). I will give her raw chicken neck maybe 2 or 3 times a week, I mix 2 necks with her dry food, usuallly for her lunch. Then dinner is dry food with vege again. However, I am currently training my pup thus she gets lots of treats through out the day, chicken liver, chunkers, cream cheese in her kong. So yea, she is getting quite a variety of food.
  4. I took my puppy out every one hour, and I go out using the same door. TIll she got the idea, thats the place to wait to go out. she is ok now
  5. My puppy now will sit at the door when she wants to pee/poo, but I still take her out every hour or so. I guess I will keep doing it till I am confident that she will ask to go out everytime she has the urge? I would like to know when to stop too
  6. Yes, I will try to introduce her meaty bones maybe next week, i want to take it slow. I added some pumpking into her diet and she loves them. Though, I believe she loves everything, include her poopoo....
  7. I am too considering letting my a.staffie pup start to socialise with other dogs. She is only 12 weeks old and I am thinking that I should send her to puppy day care once/twice a week for several hours a day. Some of my colleagues been putting hteir dogs there and they said the day care is good, with vets and all. I read on the internet that Staffie does not like to socilaise with other dogs/animals, so I thought I will start when she is still young and not that agressive. I know she enjoys spending time with me and she has all my attention when i am not at work, playing, walking, cuddling with her when she is sleepy but i just want her to be able to play with other dogs just so she is ok if i decide to take her to a park.
  8. the trainer told me to turn my back to my dog and ignore her when she bites/chew my hands, because that's exactly what the mother would do to her puppies when they bite her. It worked for me Oh, growling and yelping didnt work for my dog. good luck!
  9. Yay..! Cheska is getting better now. Took her to puppy training on Monday and the trainer gave her lots of chunkers and polony and I was sweating with fear that Cheska may get diarrhoea but it had been 2 days now and she is fine. So I guess I can start to add some chunkers into her diet and use as treats to train her. Oh and peanut butter in her kong... she LOVES it
  10. AGAIN, i am not the best dog trainer but I know you SHOULDN'T leave food for him whole day, if he doesn't eat it, take away after 10-15 minutes and only feed him when his next meal is due. As for pooing/peeing outside, I suppose he had no choice in the morning because he was left outside so he could only do it outside? I take my puppy out to the garden every hour or so and she usually does it outside, 1 week later, she learned to sit at the door to signal us to let her out. Though I admit accidents did happen when we totally neglected her and did not realise she needed to go out, that's our fault You should praise him when he does it outside but do not get too excited (as I was told by the trainer), because if you do, the dog will think you are freaky; what's so excited about poo/pee? When my girl does it, I would just say good girl, I dont offer her treat coz i am afraid she will pee/poo inside just to get treat. Again, I am just speaking from personal experience.. Good luck!
  11. I am not super experience with toilet training but pretty successful with my 12 wks old puppy so far. You just have to make sure you take the dog out every hour or so to make sure he does it outside the house? Then he will get the idea that he can only do it outside.
  12. Cheska does poo a lot but her coat is pretty good, not perfect but I have nothing to complain about her coat. Took her to her first puppy training yesterday and was told to give her some sardine, so I shall try it this weekend and some raw chicken neck. Finger cross....
  13. Ok, it is the chicken mince from the butcher that meant for pets, so I suppose it had some bones in them. Maybe that's why she had diarrhea. As for eating her poo, i think it could be that food is passing through too quickly, that explains why she needs to poo 10 times a day. Does she have straight intestine or what? The amount of poo she produce a day out beat the amount of food she has ( i think!) Right, I will to give her some chicken neck/wings this Friday so I can observe her stool on the weekend. Thanks for the advice
  14. I have a 11 wks old American Staffie, Cheska, who loves her food. When I got her back from the breeder, I bought some minced chicken, pasta and vege mix to feed her along the biscuits that was recommended by the breeder (Super Coat for puppy). She was alright till arppox. a week later, she ate some cat biscuits at my friend's place and had diarrhoea. She only ate around 10-15 pieces of the biscuits and they are tiny, but she had runny poo for over 24 hours. So I took her to the vet to find she had fever and upset tummy, the vet said there was nothing to worry about as she was still very active and had good appetite. After a week's medication, her poo was back to normal. A week later, I cooked some minced chicken for her to mix with her biscuit and AGAIN, she had diarrhoea. Took her to the vet, the vet was puzzled. SHe did some tests on her (can't remember what tests as I wasn't there), the vet said everything seem normal. She wasn't given any medicine and her poo was back to normal within 3 days. NOW, I have no idea if I should introduce her something different than her ordinary biscuits. I want to give her some raw chicken neck as this naughty puppy started eating her poo. SHe doesn;t eat her poo all the time but once in a while. I read somewhere in the forum to increase the raw bone/meat content in her diet to stop her from eating her poo but I am concern that she will get diarrhoea again. Please advise
