  1. I don't know any pet stores or online sites that sell them, but if you ask your instructer they should hopefully be able to tell you where they got theirs, or if your lucky the obediance club might sell them as I know the one I go to does.
  2. that is great wuffles, Ava is so clever and pretty
  3. a lot of the time, especially with deakin Great news that the car lunging is improving so quickly. he is so cute in those two videos with his white paws and his more grown up bark. I love kuma's expression in that 1st photo now a bit off topic can I just say how much I HATE mosquitoes
  4. I have a clam shell here that hasn't been chewed but it was here before the dogs and Deakin doesn't use the sand clam for digging, for him its his afternoon siesta spot. Watson occasionally digs a bit in it but most the time his digging around deakin and there isn't a lot of sand in it as over the years most of it has eventually ended up outside the sandpit. The other side gets used in summer and filled with water if its a hot day, its great as it means you know the dogs have a bit of water to cool off in and you know that there will be water for them the whole day. princess is so pretty Foxyboi, if he is doing good on it then you are probably doing it right we will mosst likley be at the dogs day out in november, so if your around you might be able to see him there, but it depends on if i can convince someone to come along.
  5. oh poor Ava being called spethal when she was just trying to upgrade her look with a new colour, here is my preatied up Watson from friday after all the rain after I had picked him up from the other side of the fence and dried him off a bit Hoover and his ears are so cute, who would want normal ears when they looked like that. Oh your poor ground at least they look like they're fairly small holes Kuma's face just screams I've been caught, but who could be mad at a face like that
  6. I take my kibble to obediance and use that to train with there, now this is because I went through beginners and a bit afterwards trying every treat possible cheese, roast chicken, cabanossie, hot dogs, devon, chunkers, steak etc and I could wave them infront of his face as often as I liked and got no respone, now he wasn't getting breakfast that morning and his dinner got cut in half the night before soi by all accounts he should have been hungry and intrested. As I moved up a class he grew a little bit more intrested in the treats but not by much and his kibble got changed to advanced as he wasn't doing grate on hills and since he was so intrested in the advanced kibble at home I brought it to training to try and it worked amazingly. Now the point is you use what ever works so for my backwards dog kibble has a higher value then some other foods so we use that to train him and get odd and disaproving looks sometimes. At obediance class you are supposed to use a reward that your dog wants in a distracting enviroment so for most people that is treats but at home in a less distracting enviroment with a hungry dog kibble normally works as a training treat if they are intrested in their kibble, so from my impressions KTB is just looking for types of kibble that would gain enough intrest to be used for part of the at home training. I am another that normally splits the dogs meal into two, not always even and do training with one bit and then feed the other bit in his bowl so that he relises that he has been fed and doesn't keep asking for his dinner. I feed deakin dental large breed advanced dry and he loves it Watson is on rehydrated advanced puppy and he isn't wow let me at them, but he does like them enough that they can be used as treats when there are not many distractions
  7. most dogs bark when people walk past their yards, my backyard backs onto a bit of a nature strip and then horse padocks so it is not uncommon to see horses, bikes, people or dogs go past and my elder dog will bark if people linger or if he can't see them I just consider it normal. Lots of people have different opioions about where the dog should be in relation to you so its really up to what works for you and your dog, mine are allowed to to be anywhere as long as they aren't tripping me up and they aren't pulling as I am not to fussed about which side they are on or if they are in front or back.

  9. ravenau1 oh she is just adorable and so tiny, do you have any names picked out yet?
  10. Do people think obedience school is a must? I think that first time/unexperienced owners should attend a obedience class, if they don't enjoy it or their dog doesn't enjoy it and they don't have any problems with their dog I see no reason that they should have to stay in obedience but I think that they should at least attend. People who do go- why do you go? did you find it boring to begin with? Deakin is the first dog I have trained and we are still going to obediance class a year on from puppy classes becuase I enjoy it, my dog seems to enjoy it and I get a bit of a thrill seeing my dog learn new thing, for example today we did our first bit of proper heelwork off-lead and I am beyond proud of him. I found it a tincy bit boring to begin with as we started puppy class already knowing everything except for stand but as we moved on and I had to work harder to gain and keep his attention and the difficulty level went up it wasn't that boring. Can you do other dog sports eg flyball, agility without having attended basic obedience classes? At my club there is no requirment to attend another class before these sporting classes but you have to have control of your dog and at least for a unexperianced trainer to gain this control you would probably have to attend a class before hand.
  11. hope both Mars and Max are feeling okay today but are not being to boisterous. Also hope Hoover and Elbie are going well, and Hoovers not having too many accidents inside. Second week of a new class and it was okay, I was so proud of deakin as we did our first real bit of off-lead heeling in a class situation. I was holding my breath everytime we turned or came to a stop terrified that he would relise that he was off lead and pounce on the dog next to him or just keep on going straight ahead when I turned or stoped, but we managed with him only needing a touch on his collar once when he got distracted by a mushroom and started lagging a bit behind. Even though we had been doing off-lead change of positions, stays and recalls in the class before I was still so freaked out about doidng a heel pattern off-lead. Though this week he decided to go around the jump instead of over it and threw a little fit in the stays. I think max is very handsome, but I have that problem with watson the converstaion usally goes a bit like this goes a bit like this Them: is it a boy or a girl me: he is a boy Them: Oh she is very preatty, whats her name me: his name is watson Them: what breed is she me: he is a sheltie etc.
  12. Deakin is currently getting a around 2 cups of kibble (advanced large breed dental) at dinner and for breakfast, though now and then one of those cups will be substituted for a chicken frame or a bone. Watson is getting a bit under 1/2 a cupof kibble (puppy rehydratable) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also sometimes gets a bit of food held back and gets given a bone instead.
  13. Santa vists the puppies at this house too, normally a couple of toys and a pack of treats or chew. Where are the ACT people getting their antlers as I don't think I have seen any around, though I haven't been looking.
  14. KTB they look so cute together, good luck with the toilet training we are still in that process with Watson some days he seems to get it, the next we spend half the day on the floor cleaning it up. lilli_star I feel for you with the feral training session amd good luck with the last lession. Sometimes our dogs suprise us and you end up passing, that happened to us with Deakin in most his classes but especially with beginners he spent half the term in the air, one quarter of it barking and most of it refusing to pay attention no matter what food I waved in front of his face. At multiple points I got asked what I was feeeding him and reminded that dogs don't work for kibble and if you fed them a large breakfastthey would be less likley to want to work, at this point I had to explan he hadn't had anything since the half his dinner he had the night before and then had to show them my collection of training treats containing chicken, cheese, cabanossi, hotdog ect only or them to look at deakin and go are you sure that is a labrador but somehow at the end of term we managed to pass the begineners test and deakin did well enough to somehow get a blue ribbom.
  15. KTB because I am psychic or when browsing the TP I saw her ad I have watched the video and seen his adorable little face. If he is 8kg now did the breeder have an idea how large he would get, Elbie always looks smallish in your videos and photos how much does he weigh currently?
  16. oooh that is just mean KTB, but he is sooo cute and love the name. So is he from the lady breeder in Kempsey Hope the meet and greet with Elbie goes well
  17. ooh how exciting I don't know how you could wait I can't even wait to see if KTB has a vacume cleaner or a vacume cleaner, I know absoloutly nothing about Akitas what would his colour be called?
  18. Overhills guns a fut has such a pretty colour, Minxy are the puppys on the way or is it a planned litter? well its past 2 o'clock and no vacume yet
  19. wow Kuma's littermates are spread out, Marshall sounds like he is doing great in the show rings at the moment what is Kuma's pedigree name? did you get to pick
  20. I thought the exact same thing and like you I scrolled down and noticed that KTB had noticed him first Dragon and Vivi are so preatty and congrats on Ava's mum for getting her first BoB
  21. Niques the newest trick Deakin is learning at the moment is going to a target and sitting down facing me, the reason we're learning it is we need it for our new obediance class where eventually I think the requirment is for me to send him 12? meters to a box. So far we have got to going to the target turning round and then staring at me. We are also once a I remember to buy a new clicker as I have managed to lose one again will be working on him retriving a dumbell. with Watson like you and KTB just I am just attempting to have a calm puppy A question do any of your dogs have a fall back trick for when they think you want them to do something but are not sure what, as if I am sitting on the ground trying to shape a behaviour with a clicker and deakin doesn't quite understand what I am asking I get punched in the face/kissed then stared at then kissed/punched again if the first one failed to elict a response this can be repeated a few times vacuum cleaner preparations? KTB what does that involve? letting Elbie romp around in a muddle puddly then do zoomies inside? or is as some people suspect that vacume cleaner really is code for bundle of adorable puppy not normal average household appliance which doesn't actually require any preperations . me too though I will probably have a bit of a laugh if it is just a vacume cleaner we are all in anticipation about. I wonder how many people will be lurking/reading this forum between the hours of 12-2 and onwards in an attempt to discover the answer to the whole mystery. On another note here is a picture of puppy Deakin in all his incrediable cuteness, chewing the eyes off a octopus and another a bit older trying to persuade me that the dirt on his nose and the hole in front of him was really was part of an elaborate framing attempt from the cat next door and with that back to bed in an attempt to sleep, will probably edit this post in the morning to make sure it makes sense
