  1. Well to much rain here so our assesment has been put off till next sunday, am glad as that means my cold should be gone by then so I don't scare deakin with a fit of coughing in one of the activities, and it also means that there can actually be a chance of passing and a more proper christmas party. I am also sorry about Deakin humping Kuma, he is desexed and doesn't normally do that so I don't know what got into him.
  2. Love the two video's luckily the breakdown was only 800m or so away from my house so not that far to walk once I convinced the doggys that napping in the car wasn't going to get them home and they had to walk. Thanks for the good luck wishes. hope you can get there with that stand lilli_star, no help here but KTB has some good advice on that thread
  3. Had a great time today, it was great meeting everyone thanks Kumaakita and wuffles to organising it. I also have 2 dead dogs though it didn't help that I had to walk part of the way home as I wasn't paying attention to my heat gage : and my car is now dead and currently getting towed. Deakin really wasn't co-opperating with those photo's, even in the one with him and pepper he has his eyes shut. I am just hoping deakin isn't to tired as we have our final exam tomorrow and am hoping we can pass as according to the instructer we should as long as he has his stuff together.
  4. I'm loving all the mud monsters The best one I can find, but his whole back end was covered in this mud from where he had taken a break from his digging to sit in the hole
  5. I will be there and will have either one or both dogs.
  6. I like youtube for a wide mix of techniques and different behaviours, but I also look at Dog star daily
  7. 2011 Goals Deakin - Start trialling in obediance - Hopefully get CCD title and started on CD - get ET - start learning agility - start dwd Watson - get better people skills, hopfully able to do nice sit/stand for exam - energetic and focused heeling Me - get fit enough to put Deakin through ET, and keep up in agility - train with energy and excitment
  8. Cafepress has a bunch of dogue de bordeaux themed items if they are in to that sort of thing. Cafe press - ddb
  9. lauging at all the photo's Humphry and oliver are too cute, and I love Regal the sneaky ball theif.
  10. Looks like my dog is a little slow, He wasn't great after puppy class but enough to move foward and pass classes, it started to go fast down hill at 13 months when he had his brain freeze/feral spats. During training mostly after a feral spat I just wanted to go home and forget about training, but I stayed and we failed the class but I tried again the next term and while his feral spats reduced he introduced crazy ones but overall his brain was more focused then the previous term and we stole a pass. If he hadn't had passed that class I might have given him a term/christmas holiday break and tried again next year but as he did we moved on and now this term at 18 months he really has his brain back. So I persisted through the troubled time more so that I could learn so that I could work at home where he was more focused
  11. You can buy cheap treat dispenser toys from the reject shop/hot dollar. Deakin my lab has a $3 purina square treat dispenser and loves it he can spend ages pushing it around with his nose getting the treats out. I like that I can change the size of the opening. He isn't intrested in chewing it though so I can't say how well it would stand up to a destructive dog but it seems pretty solid.
  12. One of my faviourte things that deakin does is his back seat driving. After we go through the deicding round about that we either go left at to go to the park or right at to go to training he decides he knows where we are going. The closer we get or if we are approaching a turn he starts sticking his head between the drivers seat or behind the passangers seat yowling if we go past the turn. But the funniest thing to see is if we drive past one of the big important places he gets so vocal, not barking but talking and he turns around on the seat and complains untill its out of sight.
  13. My little one is neither My big one is fairly well trained and he is fairly well behaved except for when he is having his moments
  14. Today I watched a pug and a westie do flyball, neither were extremely fast but they both had the crowd behind them. I think the presenter mentioned it was the only pug or one of the few pugs to do flyball in australia so it was interesting to watch.
  15. these are my favourites out of the photos already uploaded. Young deakin One of Watson and deakin, Watson first day home
  16. one which currently has a nose height of around 25cm but still has growing to do, and the others nose is around 60cm off the ground
  17. by head up due you mean that sort of want their maximum nose height so when they are looking right up, or due you want it in a more natural position when they are looking straight ahead?
  18. Congratulations on your title. He is a handsome boy
  19. Sheltie - that no he is not a toy/miniature lassie dog, he is actually a different breed.
  20. Both my current dogs don't seem worried and ignore it :p it continue that way. The previous dog a staffy x hated thunder, if he was outside he would throw himself against the door untill we let him in. Once in he was in he would either go the space that had the most number of people or the more important people and then just laydown as close as possible to the most important person in the space or pace around the house going person to person. If everyone was outside though then he would go outside but pace between inside and outside. We didn't baby him but we didn't completly ignore him.
  21. Deakin gets washed in the bath, he mostly sits there and sulks though latley he tries to sit on the bath ledge to avoid the water. He gets bathed every now and then when he is dirty or when I want him to be clean. Watson get bathed in the shower or tub depending on whats easier on the day. He gets bathed when ever he is dirty. He doesn't have great aim and is fond of sitting in/walking/ rolling in his poo so he is done a lot more often then deakin.
  22. Same as us I am not in a hurry as my girl is still so young but it does get a bit frustrating! the other way round here, got my heelwork nice and focused and now our stays are broken, he drops in the sit stays and stands in the drop stays though the idea of competing is a little way off with only a thought of competeing in a trial by the end
  23. I taught give with only one toy, so they don't expect a treat or a different toy before they give, though they are not 100% unless I have my hand on the item. I played with the toy then suddenly hold it still, hands holding the toy on either side of the dogs mouth so they couldn't still play. As soon as they take their mouth off the toy I say the give command, praise and then recommence the game. As this play and then give and then play again game goes on the wait for them to let go of the toy shortens and eventually I could ask them to give without hlding the toy as still.
  24. Congrats on passsing puppy class Ike . there are 3 major clubs with most the ACT people on this thread, well all but me going to Belconnen dog club. It really depends on where you live and how far you want to travel. It also depends on what night/morning you want to train on. Another household here that has a love of bottles but deakin isn't allowed to play with them anymore as he ends up with blood in the spots he has been chewing sometimes
