  1. Yes - the plush puppy one. Thank you. Just saw the link Will give this one a try.
  2. Crashing this thread. My white chihuahua is a sunbaker too. Cant convince him to stay inside, he just wants to be out there improving his tan. Last year I used one which was increadibly thick and was terrible! Wouldnt spread on and then when I tried washing it off my hands, it just spread everywhere. Is there a thinner, easier to spread dog sunscreen available or are they mostly all like the thick one?
  3. Its only lawn, no garden beds thank goodness. Our dogs arent prone to digging normally but will occasionally make a small ditch for the fun of it.
  4. We bought the powder that is mixed with water and then 'sprayed' onto the lawn, hoping that this way there isnt any pellets for our dogs to eat. Im worried they'll dig up the lawn in search of the smell. If they eat the lawn with the blood and bone on it, would that be enough to make them sick? We were thinking of putting the blood and bone on in the next couple of days so it had almost a week to 'sink in' before we take the dogs there next Saturday.
  5. Im sure this is a really stupid question, but I want to be 100% sure. We will be moving into a new place next weekend. During last week we put down some roll on lawn to cover a large sand patch. We bought Blood And Bone powder that will be watered in. Im just wanting to make sure this will be perfectly safe when our dogs get to the property next week.
  6. I am so sorry. We had to put down the family Boxer in Feb this year. We had the Boxer (Tyson) before I had my son. Tyson was a rescue dog and we got him at roughly 4years old. My son was 6 when we had to put Tyson down at the age of 12. We told my son that Tyson was very old and he went to Heaven. We arent religious, but my son has a concept of what Heaven is. We had Tyson cremated and my son will occasionally say 'Hi Tyson' when he passes the urn. Every now and then he will take the urn and give it a big hug. Its a timber urn, so we arent worried about it breaking or anything. I think its best to get your son used to the idea that Shannon will be going over the rainbow bridge/going to Heaven soon. Maybe tell him to write a letter to Shannon with anything he wants to say to her, so he can say everything he needs/wants to say.
  7. I was just considering the possibilty that my perceptions of Australia were skewed and I must be a crazy, disgruntled Libertine in love, to not want to call Australia home any more. But I tune back in and yep, the small-mind-from-a-big-place mentality seems to be alive, ripe and well! [btw who cares how many dogs someone has why are you so ready to stick your nose in and judge? Oh that's roight ... it's your moral perogative yeah yeah] If you notice, I didnt make a positive or negative judgement in my OP. I said that to me that sounds like alot of dogs. I am not a breeder, so I honestly dont know if 84 is a 'normal' amount for a regular breeder to have, which is why I asked "Surely he was exaggerating...right?". It was a legitimate question.
  8. I went into a animal supply store yesterday (doesnt sell live animals) and one of the workers told me he has 84 dogs. After I gave him this look he said 'oh, Im a breeder.....2 different types'. I still think that sounds like a few too many dogs Lol Surely he was exaggerating...right?
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHA!! My OH mastiff did the same thing! When we left the house we had 4 trees, when we got back, we had 4 sticks!
  10. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Thats awesome! Can almost hear him laughing! Too cute.
  11. Boooo, why isnt he coming back to WA? I was sick last time he was here and couldnt go. Bummer!
  12. LOVE that suitcase photo hahahaha He is absolutely gorgeous!
  13. So gorgeous!!! My dogs tolerate my cat. They dont snuggle together but they will sometimes play together and when they do, the cat always wins Lol
  14. Most of the time, Mr and Mrs Average dont care where the pup has come from OR they simply dont know better. If they see a cute puppy in the shop all they want is to buy it and take it home. Wondering if it was from a puppy farm might even be a slight selling point because some may think they are rescuing the pup and giving it a 'better life' or something like that.
  15. Web-sites never lie... ;) Haha oh never!
  16. It says on the website that they dont use puppy farms/mills and that they deal with breeders, but the huge majority of their pups seems to be 'oodles' or 'mini-xyz' so Im assuming their breeders are more like BYB or the likes.
  17. I was just browsing at a few things online and I stumbled across a pet shop. I clicked its link and started scanning the website quickly. My first thought was "oh nice, a place where the puppies arent kept in small boxes and cages". The shop has free run enclosures for the pups. Fair enough, its a step in the right direction. Then I stopped scanning and looked properly. Seems this shop churns out mass quantities of 'designer dogs'. Soooo many 'oodles'! Now, Im a fan of the cute little cross breeds and think some are adorable BUT this just doesnt sit right with me! I would love to post the link of the shop but pretty sure Im not allowed to. The more I read into the shop, the more it upset me. I think they are trying to do the right thing and see that yes there is a market for designer dogs, but looking at their "shipments due to arrive" in the next two months, it just seems a bit wrong to me.
  18. Im so sorry for your loss RIP Brock
  19. Hahaha Thats adorable!! I have a Mastiff X and a Chihuahua. The Mastiff will drag the items out onto the lawn then go sit elsewhere while my Chihuahua destroys it. She sits there with an innocent look like "Im not chewing it, he is" but we all know there is no way my little Chihuahua dragged 4 giant pot plants, a box full of papers and a King Size doona out to the lawn Lol The Mastiff will also tear a tiny, delicate hole in their toy teddies and then leave it for the Chihuahua to pull all the stuffing out. We've watched her. She'll literally hold it between her paws, make a tiny hole then let the Chihuahua take it away from her. Cheeky girl.
  20. Quick update. My dog was fine. He wasnt even hyper. Went to sleep and seems totally normal this morning. Thank you for the replies
  21. Hahaha we had ALOT this year and my son is slowly finishing the last of them off.
  22. Forgot to say, its milk chocolate. Cheap brand. Think I got a 2kg bag of he eggs from a cheapo store at Easter Time. Had the last few sitting on my bedside table and forgot about them.
  23. I thought my Chihuahua was asleep on his bed next to my computer table. I looked down and he was gone. I went looking for him and sprung him licking my bedspread. He had just eaten one of those very small Easter eggs. He is 1 year old. He ate it about 20mins ago. So far he seems totally normal but I know chocolate is a big no no for dogs. I cant get him to a vet right now. Will he be ok?? What can I do or what should i look out for? thanks
  24. Not my intention to do myself any favours. My intention to get some breeders to understand where the majority of buyers are coming from, but it seems that just wont happen. Once again, I will not be calling this breeder, because I do not wish to give away a non-refundable deposit on a pup I have not seen, and has not even been born, so can people stop telling me to call them.
  25. Some breeders need to pull their heads out from their supposed squeeky clean behinds and take a look around. I am NOT scum that is going to neglect your precious puppy. I treat my pets like a real member of the family. You want to look down on buyers from way up on your pedestal then just remember this... "The monkeys at the top of the tree look down to see a bunch of smiling faces. The monkeys at the bottom look up and only saw a bunch of a$$holes." The attitude from some of the breeders on this thread has proved exactly what many have thought about breeders, and more. Blame buyers for not taking the time do do xyz, and then complaining that you dont have time to answer emails?! You shun some perfectly wonderful people without even knowing them, and for all you know you have just lost out on giving one of your pups a truely amazing home. I have received many PMs from this thread from people saying they completely agree with me. We understand that you get alot of time wasters, but it seems breeders dont understand thats not OUR fault! Its not our fault that out of the 40 emails you have, only 2 are genuine, so dont blame us straight out of the gate. Wouldnt having time wasters be part of the parcel of being a breeder? Deal with it, and dont take it out on new potential buyers. Some of the responses on this thread have made me so annoyed, and yes, right now Im typing angrily. Would be a wonderful time to go get some fresh air and take my ACD pup for a walk...oh I forgot...I had the nerve to try communicate with an email, therefor not good enough to even be considered to have a pup. Silly me.
