  1. Chili has had it twice, the first vet was very pushy and just did it anyway but no problems. The second vet eyed her off a bit (shes a GSD) and asked if I thought she'd be ok, i assured him she would be fine, and she was. No side effects. The second vet said that there was once particular boarding kennel in the area who didnt accept this method, and wouldnt board dogs who'd had the vaccine this way...so if you're a frequent boarder, it might pay to check.
  2. Most of my pooches are on it, even though they are past puppy stage. They are active and need the extra fat n stuff. Have you tried adding some hot water to make it more 'smelly'? Might not be helpful during these hot days but maybe once its cool at night it would be worth a try?
  3. I have 2 GSDs, a GSD x kelpie and a kelpie. The rules that I have followed with my GSDs is soak dry food (reason being that it makes it easier to digest, stomach doesnt need to work so hard therefore not so much movement), do not feed them 1 hour before or after heavy exercise, try to limit the ammount of water they drink after heavy exercise and feed small meals often if possible. My first GSD Bailey ended up dying at 2 and a half of a twisted intestine. Obviously I was so distraught that it had happened (after two vet visits for a "tummy bug") when I heard twisted intestine I heard bloat. Ended up being nothing to do with anything. I was very careful with him, followed the above rules and made him eat with his bowl ontop of a little kids plastic chair but I've since decided that raising the bowl was a waste of time. I am exceptionally paraniod about the health and well being of my other dogs. So.. I'm interested in peoples routines with their dogs, especially people who work. I'd love to be able to feed smaller meals often but just cant fit it in. 6:30am Get up, walk dogs. Clean out pens 8:00 Get ready for work. 8:30 go to work 6:00pm Get home, feed dogs. 9:30 Check dogs, go to bed. What do you do?
  4. I'm interested too, sounds too good to miss. Price might be the final decider but add me to the list for now please.

    Bayliss

Bayliss was the first dog that was my very own. He was a beautiful German Shepherd Dog, gold with not enough black, light eyes and the most east/west feet possible! To me he looked like the ideal GSD. He was the cheekiest dog on the planet, always pinching socks, barking at cats and loved rough play. He excelled at obedience at a young age and was sick of it by two years old and decided that off lead recalls meant he could play chasey. He loved puppies of any breed and dispite his size could be trusted to play gently with them. When we moved to a farm when he was two, he would spend all day watching the sheep. Not because he sensed some long ago link between GSDs and sheep, but because he loved meat! He loved going for a run with the motorbike through the paddocks and up the hills. Bayliss became sick on a Monday, off his food. This wasnt uncommon (just making sure I loved him) but he was sick enough to go to the vet on the Wednesday. Vet didnt have many answers, just some meds to fix the runs. On Friday he was really down and uncomfortable. Back to the vet, I'm sent home. X-rays show bad news and hes rushed into surgery. His large intestine had twisted over, cutting off the blood supply. I didnt get to say goodbye, he was 2 and a half. His grave overlooks his sheep and reads Bayliss 6/10/00 - 19/7/03 The most loved dog that ever there was He lived life to the limit, we all miss him He's a real shepherd now One year ago and it still hurts like it was today. I love you Bailey.
