  1. I'm quite scarey! I might just dress up in a witches costume!
  2. Sounds like fun. I might be there just to watch (my dogs are not Frisbee crazy) If I go I will take my camera to take some great shots and a video if anyone wants one. (will only video friends and DOL people  ) Laura
  3. I would make them pay top dollar. I would charge $150 like kaywoman68 said! Might make them wake up and brush their dog! ;) Fair enough they came in for a little clip, but to have to shave it all off, The nerve of some people, I bet they are the sort of people who say "why else would you become a groomer... You can do it for me!" Grrrrr. Sounds like my step-mother-in-law. Now I brush the poor Border Collie, because she keeps forgetting to call the groomer, I brush the dog for nothing as I feel so sorry for him, a number of times I have had near misses with his teeth!
  4. thinking of you and your family. Bye bye Jenna. We are all here if you need to talk, MSJ. Laura.
  5. Hi Thank you Warley. I found out how to Groom Maggie the other day and she looked really nice, Oh I would kill for more coat right now!!!! I have only just realise what I am doing wrong in regards to 'handling' (If you can call it that! :D ) I am unsure if Maggie has a thyriod problem but I will get her checked out anyway, just to be safe not sorry. Things start looking up for one of my girls only for me to find something is wrong with the other girl!!! but we are getting there, Kyrah and Maggie are both learning how to stack better, I am learning to groom them and present them better and also learning what diet works best for them. I am not blaming anyone here but I think it may have been a ingredient change to one of the products I have been feeding either that or could be someone throwing food over the fence, as my 'over-the-road' neighbour asked my partner if she could give a meaty bone to my dogs and he said yes, I got home and freaked out, here is Maggie chewing on a COOKED bone it had been in their frigde since christmas day!!!! I told my partner if any one offers to give my dogs any food say NO!!!! Laura
  6. Hi MM, (I forgot about this threat and didnt see you had replied) Yes, D.bay library, which is on the beach front and also some books from the Redcliffe Library which is near the beach front also. Laura
  7. Thanks Mel for those links. I have seen this website too. BARF Thanks Hesapandabear for the list of good books, we are now ontop of the flea problem and we have none now, it took a while to get rid of them cos the rain and I had to treat the yard almost everyday!!! But thanks for the link, will try them next time! Laura
  8. just got a quote for the T4 (their is no test available from them that allows them to do the T4 antibody test) Its $38 and another $38 for consultation. Is this cheap for the T4?
  9. I have heard (from here) not many people would recommend bark busters, but I thought I would grab it anyway and have a read of it. (at least I can take it back when I finish reading it!!! ) Can I order these online? and where from? I borrowed 'give your dog a bone' from another breeder, but didnt get to read it all. I can buy the book from Ian? Can my local vet do the T4 test or do I have to go to a 'specialist'? Thanks, Laura.
  10. BC4ME Firstly have you managed to get on top of your flea problem? Secondly what and how much are you feeding Maggie and are your dogs fed separtely to each other? Thirdly Maggie doesn't look very happy in any of the photo's have you considered taking her to get a vet for a checkup she may not be feeling very well. Maybe a Thyroid check? No amount of product will help if you don't have a healthy dog to start with. Please don't take my questions the wrong way but Maggie seems to have dropped far too much coat after her litter. molasseslass Hope you guys don't mind me posting your quotes here.... I have borrowed heaps of books from the local library as I think I need to learn MORE Doggie stuff... The complete idiot's guide to Positive Dog Training (I need this to train myself!!! ) The complete guide to caring for your dog (care, nutrition, health and first aid etc) Keep your dog healthy the natural way who's the boss? The bark busters guide to dog behavior and training The veterinarians guide to your dogs symptoms book of the bitch (although I have several breeding books here already!) natural pet cures the good food cookbook for dogs (looked good, might eat some myself!) The dog owners problem solver and the everything dog health book I also found this website very informative Canine Hypothyroidism Canine thyroid disease Has anyone read any of these books? And are there any other REALLY good books? I am also starting my girls on BARF!!! Thanks ML. Laura
  11. Hi ML, I must have missed your post thank you so much for adding the link, I do not feed BARF ( at me!!!) at myself, I tried to stack on their grooming table and take the photo at the same time! BC4ME, Yes, thank you for asking. I feed my girls apart, I feed, supercoat biscuits (usually active) as well as the supermarket dog rolls. (Prota premium formulated with maxi-coat) but normally 200gms and/or a chicken frame each, as well as leftovers, such as veggies, eggs, etc. I didnt think of that BC4ME. I need to get her vaccinations again soon so will get him to check her out too. No, didnt take it the wrong way, thanks for your help, I did ask my mentor about her dropping far too much coat and said it was normal, her bitches are almost bald even their tail after whelping. Laura. I am worried now. ETA: the name of the dog roll.
  12. Thanks espinay2, Yes, I think the reason why Maggie isn't as 'fluffy' is I might not have added enough Volumising cream, I didnt want to over do it! Maggie is just coming back into coat and I am hoping it comes back better. Will add more volumising cream on her next bath, which she shouldn't need for about another three weeks. My girls smell lovely, and their coats a smoother and softer. Laura
  13. Sorry Guys, didnt get back from my sisters till late, but here they are! took these photos just now!!! Ok, so Maggie still looks terrible after being groomed with Plush puppy, but hey, she is still beauitful in my eyes!!! Kyrah Before Plush Puppy pixie dust (but after a bath): Kyrah, after pixie dust: Laura
  14. Hi all, Just come back from bathing my dogs with Plush Puppy! Uhhhhh, Love it even more, will post more pics after I come back from my sisters place. Maggie looks lovely, but will wait to show her after her coat grows back, even though I used the volumising cream, it would look nicer if she has a fuller coat. nynka, Thank you, I was hoping some one would go off topic and help in regards to Maggie's coat. I didnt have any plans to show her just yet and don't mind having to wait a little longer. Laura
  15. Thanks guys! I have another question, I also have the Volumising cream, will this help Maggie's coat look better as she has just had a litter and lost alot of coat (she looked almost bald) she is looking better now, but I want it to look like she has a nicer, 'bulkier' coat for showing next year. Not a very good photo of her, but she has a little more coat than this now: Laura
  16. Got heaps of questions now!!! bstone7, I never thought of using it on my hair, I spend more money on my dogs than myself!!! does it do the same as if it was on the dogs? Buster's Mum, I had used Aloveen (It was a freebie from an open day at a vet clinic) but found it didnt last very long. I would recommend a change!!! espinay2, have you used fido's whitining? how would you compair it to Plush puppies Herbal Whitening shampoo? I am currently using fido's. Fifi, with the Seabreeze oil what does that do? does it only add shine? han_p_gsd, what do you think of the odour muncher? does it just cover up the smell? My borders smell really bad sometimes, but havent found anything that gest rid of the smell. Does any one use the Pixie dust? Laura I love Plush Puppy Products!!!
  17. Hi. Thanks everyone for your tips! The rude girl was the assistant in the pet shop, not plush puppy themselves. Can't wait till the dogs next bathtime to use it! Laura
  18. Ohhhhhh, I got Reviva coat, brought that one today, haven't used it yet, Can't wait though! Does anyone else use their brushes? Laura
  19. I have just brought and used Plush puppy on my Borders (as well as Rebel when he went to his new home) I love it, it smells great, and actually works, Its does what it says on the bottle!!!! ;) I recommend their products!!!! I have brought other products and felt extremely disappionted, it would either dry the skin/coat or make my dogs itch (thinking they had fleas). The only downside is where I got Plush Puppy from, I spent over $150 on 7 shampoo's, conditioners, stylers etc and the assistant was so rude, she didnt even say have a good day, or thank you, or see ya, she was not very happy. grrrr. spoilt my day too!!!! Does anyone else use their products and would like to share their tips??? Laura
  20. Thanks everyone!!! ;) Will also let all my neighbours know too (I just hope they do it too, they don't really take good care of their pets) Will let you know how we go in a few weeks time!
  21. My yard has heap of fleas, is the rain bringing them in? what can I use to kill them all? Someone told me LIME! I am having trouble breaking the cycle, everytime I think I am on top of the problem they are crawling on my dogs again! What do you use on your lawn and your dogs? I have heard here that frontline doesn't work? does Advantix work well? I am fed up with spending soo much money on stuff that doesn't work. All my neightbours are having trouble too. Please help.
