Hi everyone, My two mini schnauzers are 2 and 1.5 and to be honest they control us and our house. They have some rules and they know how to sit etc but basically they rule the roost. I think we have let them get away with things because they are so cute and because we feel guilty about leaving them while we are working. They tend to go crazy in public, barking, pulling the lead, generally going nuts when we see another dog or person. How do we take control, how to we become the pack leader or is it to late? Thanks in advance

mytwowesties I have just stopped working after being away from my babies 10hrs a day 5 days a week and they are loving it (me too). Lots of long walks on the beach, plently of cuddles, its fantastic. Their behaviour has improved immensly to because of the increased excercise and stimulation. We all win. Good luck to you and your babies x

Hi all, Our 2 mini schnauzers have started constantly licking their paws suddenly. Their is no sign of irratation, sores or anything. We have just moved into a new property and I think it may be the grass. Does this sound right? I noticed this afternoon when they walked on it they limped but walked normal on the concrete. I have started washing their feet when they come inside, this helps a little. What else can we do? Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks for listening. A & A Schnauzer lovers

Good morning, A couple of weeks ago I posted on here about my 1 year old mini schnauzer Inga who was taken to the vet in a critical condition with symptoms of shock. Inga is back in great health again and is happy as ever. We are having a problem though it is like she has reverted back to being a little puppy again. By that i mean she has lost all memory of toilet training she is going all over the house. Previous to her trip to hospital she had been toilet trained for about 7 months. Has anyone else experienced this? This may sound silly but the vet said she had very little oxygen in her blood when we took her in that night so is it possible she has lost some brain cells?

**Update on our little Inga. Just heard from the vet and she is no longer in critical condition. In fact they said she is doing surprising well considering. Has even eaten 2 meals (no surprise she loves her food). They ended up treating her for toad toxicity even though they initially did not think that this is what her systems suggested. She is on a drip for today and hopefully we can pick her up tonight. Thank you to everyone for your warm wishes. Hopefully she will be back goofing about in no time.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. They did suggest maybe a snake bite but the dogs were inside all day and i was with them in the yard and didnt see anything. Waiting for the call from the vet is killing us. I will let you know how we get on.

Hi, We have just had to leave our one year old mini schnauzer at the vet overnight. We are so worried. Here is what happened. She followed me outside for about 30 secs. I saw her playing with something at the fence and I immediately got her to follow me inside. I fed both of my dogs and about 5 mins later my girl threw up her entire dinner. I immediately checked her mouth as I thought maybe she had got a toad. Her gums went from very pale pink to white in about 15secs. I took her into the bath tub to wash her mouth out and she immediately lost all bowel control and became lifeless. We took her to the car where she vomited uncontrolably as we drove her to the vet. On arrival they said she was in a very bad way and was suffering shock. I have no idea what would have caused this. They are running blood tests, xrays etc. Has anyone else been through this? We are waiting for the vet to call after 11pm tonight. Im so worried. Thanks for listening and prayers for our little girl x x

Hi all, Today I am taking my two mini schnauzers for their last groom at our current groomer as she is leaving Brisbane. Can anyone recommend a good schnauzer groomer around Brisbane East/Bayside. I would prefer either a mobile groomer or a groomer that only takes a small amount of dogs at a time as my boy can get a little vocal when there are lots of other dogs around. Thanks in advance

Thank you all for your input on my topic. We are really happy the neighbor spoke to us as we had no idea it was even going on. I told her i would look into the matter and try and find a solution so will be keeping in touch with her to monitor the progress. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Yes we have had both since 8 weeks of age. I have been wracking my brain as to any changes that have been made. I had her desexed about 3 weeks ago and she seems to have found her voice since then. Did you spoil her after this procedure?? No i would not say that we spoiled her after to procedure. She did end up at the vet hospital two days after for 36hrs because she had severe gastroenteritis. That would have been a pretty traumatic time for her (i know it was for us anyway)

Hi I am just new to the forum so I hope I have posted this in the right area. I have two mini schnauzers a boy 12months and girl 6 months. My neighbor came and spoke to me yesterday about my girl crying when we are out. The neighbor also informed me that she cannot move in her kitchen or back yard or our girl barks at her. At the moment my biggest concern is the crying. Why would she be doing this? She has company all day with the older boy, I leave them with a bone or chew each morning and they have a variety of toys which i rotate all the time. They usually get a walk in the afternoon, should i change this to the morning. What else could i do? It upsets me that she is stressed while we are gone. Thank you
