  1. Someone needs to cut the fence.

Of course surely done so,I couldn't get over there road cuts every where due to flooding.Hoping some-one else may know more about it and hope all is well.I emailed Today Show incase they have an interset and follow up with a chopper & publicise.

  2. I HAVE JUST HAD A EMAIL FORWARDED TO ME ,40 HORSES ARE UP TO THEIR KNEES IN FLOOD WATER AND WATERS RISING.IN A LOCKED PADDOCK,YOUNG/HEMMANT,TINGALPA ROAD, RSPCA ARE SUPPOSEDLY OUT THERE NOW,

I'M POSTING THIS INCASE SOME-ONE KNOWS WHOSE HORSES THEY ARE OR CAN GET THERE TO HELP.

DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER OMFO JUST PASSING THIS ON

DOES ANY-ONE ELSE KNOW ABOUT THIS RE MORE INFORMATION OR HAVE THEY BEEN MOVED & SAVED???

  3. I leave out Puppy Optimum for puppies when I can't be home as they need to eat small amounts but frequent whilst so young so to avoid sugar drop.

Afraid I'm not a big believer in doing this. Leaving food available all the time can encourage finicky eating rather than a good healthy appetite for set meal times. Also, it can be hard to monitor the amount of food a dog is getting if it is free ranging. And finally, the food runs the risk of contamination if left out all the time.

Far healthier to set 3 or 4 mealtimes and stick to them. Put food down for 10 - 15 minutes and then remove it. They soon learn that they eat when the food is available.

Me either, only when not home. Some times can't always be there.Rather leave some food than come home to a collapsed or comotosed puppy.

  4. the innova is very expensive, cost $50 for 2.7kg and he just doesnt seem that keen on it at all, i have mixed some with dog meat (advance) which he loves, so i will gradually change

    Hi Tracey,

Have you introduced raw chicken necks, legs, wings, minced beef, bones etc for main meals when you are home?

I'm sure he would love it,have a look at the BARF posts,it is very rewarding to give them what they love & so good for them

  5.

    hi everyone

my pup gets too excited sometimes and jumps up at the kids (who are 4 and 21 months), and licks them to death etc, im not sure what the best way to stop it, i read somewhere u should turn your back on the pup and ignore, but thats very hard to stop my 2 young children from doing that and understanding why.

    any advice be great

    thanks

    tracy

Have a look for a "puppy school" in your area, call a local vet, they should be able to help you,in many cases they run one,it's not expensive. I have seen some brilliant transformations as to what they teach puppies & owners in weeks.

  6. The writing has been on the wall for years and every time someone has pointed out where this is heading we have been laughed at and accused of scaremongering, well folks just what does it take before everyone wakes and sees what is happening.

I've had half a century with my dogs, I'm glad I have, I wouldn't have missed it for the world, I hope to have them into my old age, many of you reading this will not be so lucky, your grandkids certainly wont.

Well, any advice .......what can people power do?

  7. That is a definate worry.

I often wonder is it all about more jobs, seen to keeping people employed, more paper work imagine it,policing it all. This is what it seems today it is unbelievable,it is imo out of hand.Huh if it catches on the alternative Gov. would get on the band waggon........all about money."We" vote for who-ever & once in they do as they damn well like.Don't get me started

  8. Hi Sway,

The prefix is in there that I want to browse but there is no where to click on or open....just says previous page or home????

The site does not offer any information to go with the prefixes, it simply lists them.

We do not store or save any information like email address, owned by, website etc.

Oh! Thanks Sway......It would be nice if there was such a place to look at the Pedigrees

Second thoughts what's the point in just listing them?

I was hoping it would have past champion pedigrees plus present so one could look at the lineage etc

I know one can go to "Breed" pages re profiles and if you are really lucky some may be filled in.

Ummm did you take the time to read the purpose of the website?!

It's a tool to aid people who might be applying for a prefix and are unsure if their ideas are already in use.

ETA: You do know that the website is nothing to do with Dogzonline or ANKC etc? It's a site purely for listing prefixes.

Sorry I didn't realise the purpose, was looking to purchase and wanted a squizzy at his pedigree

  11. Madam is on the chicken BARF patties and the evil beagle is having beef BARF patties. Madam is actually her daddy's little girl! She has him totally wrapped round her paw! Ok maybe me aswell!

    A picture as requested

MMMM Madam, she does have that snooty royal look about her,my sister had a fussy one as well....same colour too.Mine won't eat the BARf commercial.Of course Madam would probably not like the ordinary barf either.........oh no it has to be the expensive patties.

ETA.I certainly know my dogs :bottom: I thought it was a Poodle forgotten it was a Spaniel!

  12. Thanks  lol everyone loves silver. Shes soooooo smart. The first one to figure out the bottle, puppy mush and how to drink water. She figures out EVERYTHING first.

They are beautiful, shame they have to grow up! I love them in their wraps.

Well,my vet said the cabbage leaves are the best idea which has been advised to you yesterday. Now,there is an injection to dry up the milk, she said she doesn't like using it and didn't say what it was.....so I haven't been of much help to you today.

She was busy so I didn't pester her re the name....sure all vets would know what it is.

Lucky for you yours are a larger breed,if they were Chis at 2 weeks I would have had to bottle feed them......we all know how tiring that is around the clock!

  13. one of the popantels only does tapeworms. PopantalF does all worms except heartworm.

I did notice they sell one for TAPE WORMS so got thinking does this one I now have not do tape worms, yet they say on this packet in front of me ALL WORMER for dogs, misleading & confusing, says this on the site also.

It is important fur kidz are covered because I know hook worms do kill.I learnt that 2 years ago with a 12 week old puppy I bought, had no idea how important until she died after a week on the drip in hospital....dreadful long week.Breeder still in denial.

Many many every day people have no idea worms kill, chew up the intestines.

I had only had her home 4 days, waited 4 years for her.....whole new thread!!

  14. PopantelF here is several dollars cheaper than Drontal.

Excelpet wormers never worked on my babies. My first ever little I gave them some, no wormy poo's. 2 weeks later, drontal was used and there was lots of large wormy poo's.

I got onto Pets Megastore, lot cheaper here.I had to leave a message but wanted to ask what is the difference with Popantel & P F,the latter is the more expensive, does the plain P one worm for every-thing or not?

For those that may be interested 10 tabs/10kg is only $35.00

  15. When i was breeding the kelpies, I had no problems getting the suspension down. They hated the troy syrup (but so did I as it only does round worms) and we're good to do with Drontal Syrup.

But now all I recommend is either PopantelF tablets (generic of Drontal) or the Drontal tabs.

Being generic I would have thought means I'd pay less,I paid more than for Drontal

Must check it out online with others.

  16. What is the best way to get rid of Tear stains from a dogs face....

Apart from the advice given,re eye lashes etc.there is a product TROY put out around $10.00 online for this problem... ,has any-one tried it? Show people with white dogs would know.

  17. Some success! I've bought the BARF patties. Madam Fussy pants has eaten half a patty last night and another this morning. She should be eating 2 patties a day but I'm happy as long as she eats anything at this stage.

    I know the feeling!!

Perhaps "Madame" would like Truffles on that

Can you send us a photo of Madame?

Me thinks a spoilt little#####& has Mummy around her little fingers.

I usually give mine My Dog with liver for breakfast,of course heated, this am I decided I would put egg with as well for a change, well they all turned their noses up FLB.If I was eating egg they'd all want it & leave me none.

Always BARF of some kind for dinner.

I would now stick to the same kind of BARF patties.....don't change it,on to a good thing stick to it.They probably don't need as much variety as we think they do.

  18. I'm sure there is an injection to give them because when i asked about it for my girl *( she got extremely ill from Mastitis, and kept producing milk) they said there was something you could give them...cannot remember the name of it, but will be looking into it for next time for sure. I wasn't told about it until afterwards and found the info from another vet!

Yes,so am I.Sure there is and also tablet form.

I have to get vaccs this week so I will ask, that's the trouble we can't possibly know every thing & it's for the next time or some-one else in this situation. Can only hope it won't happen to us again!

  19. The breeder told me it could take up to 3 months for my papers to be given to me. My pup is on Main Register and is apparently co-ownership with the kennel. I want to show her and was hoping to get the papers sooner so I can register her in Tas. I'll try to get in contact with Dogs SA

Your dog will not require registration with the CC in Tasmania to be shown. If the pup is on ANKC Main Register and you have the ANKC registration number, she can be shown now provided YOU are a registered member of the Tasmanian CC (whatever its called).

Has the breeder registered the pup in joint names? You really need to know this now. Its the breeder you need to talk to.

I signed a contract saying my pup would be in my name and the Breeders name and registered on Main Register. But if she has a litter then breeder will give me full ownership.

I've tried talking to the breeder, when I call she's too busy to talk or driving, and when I email she doesn't write back. Since the money was paid she hasn't been interested. She did seem worried when she first got sick (was worms) but after I told her about the worms she hasn't bothered :)

    Is the puppy thriving now?

That must be very frustrating everything falling on deaf ears.

Did you try buy this puppy out-right in the beginning?

Never been mixed up in deals, just sounds strange that breeder would put in your name soley after a litter, does this mean you have to use the breeders" stud & breeder has pick of litter?

By the way none of my business & should you choose not to answer my questions, just curious as I've never heard of one like this.

Others here may understand this more than I do.

  20. I have ALWAYS wormed bitches as soon as they come in season, then again 1-2wks before they are due to have the puppies. Never had any problems and never had puppies poo out worms. I worm the bitch again once pups are weaned and start worming puppies from 2wks of age. I use Drontal tablets and liquid.

The puppies that had died of Hookworm were wormed with Drontal liquid. :scared:

There is another thread in "Health & Nutrition" started by Everythings Shiny, called "Anyone finding this with the Drontal Puppy Wormers" page 3 atm.Click on to OP Topics.......worth the read, opened my eyes.

  21. Earlier is not better, it's convenient and that's about it. There's no difference between desexing at 6 weeks and desexing at 6 months. There are benefits in delaying spey/neuter.

If you want your dog to reach it's full potential and/or you are planning on doing any sports, then it's wise to leave the spey/neutering until the puppy has stopped growing.

Dogs and bitches that are desexed earlier, can and do grow taller, then tend to look more weedy than animals that have been allowed to mature and you will certainly see differences in the heads ( especially in the bull breeds ).

I agree with ReadySetGo and Luvsdogs. To many problems associated with early age spay/neuter especially with medium to large dogs. If you have a choice go for tubal ligation or vasectomy.

What a good idea  never even thought of this.I had oftened wondered though re hormones & if they were affected.

They can hardly say "i'm having a hot flush" and I want some replacement hormones.

I'll be going for the aboves.

    Thanks

    ETA,

Thinking about this I have a few questions.

Vasectomy so the male could still mate although no sperm?

Tube Litigation in the female, now this would also mean she would still have a season but not fall pregnant.....wondering if perhaps the womb...partial hysterectomy could be done & just leave the ovaries???

Vet or Vet nurse on here mayb able to enlighten us?????
