  1. Hi, anyone out there know where I could get a suit or something classy for my 10 year old daughter who is going to compete in the 2010 Junior Handler State Final for NT. It is only in about 11 days time and I am desperate for something nice for her to wear :p I see all the other state finalists in these gorgeous little outfits for young girls, where did they get them from?? HELP HELP HELP!!!
  2. Well being fairly new to all the showing, I have only ever got CC's and my class in group. I have just received a new cav and I am aiming high with a BIG or RUIG or even his class in show will do. Just something other than CC's, which don't get me wrong is still great but a bit of variety would be nice!! :p :D Hopefully this year will be my year!!
  3. Come on people, I know your out there just dying to tell everybody what you will wear to your next BIG show Don't by shy. We won't laugh to much at your choice of outfit It's all in fun, and besides like I said, in 10 years time we will all be thinking "OMG, did I not own a mirror back then!!!"
  4. True, but if for instance there is only 1 of your breed then your only going to get the minimum amount of points. Therefore it is going to take forever to be titled!!! It is a shame you don't get points for the others that you beat in Group or show.
  5. oooh I wonder who in OZ is going to be awarded First Neuter Title. Hope it is someone from the NT
  6. :D Do you know if extra points for group and show??? I think and don't qoute me on this BB:D but from what I have read it is only points for your breed. It will then be like winning your class in Group, being Neuter in Group. It is a shame that it won't be treated like BIG for neuters. At least we have something to start with and who knows in the future it may eventuate into something bigger. It is great for all the ones who have show potential and for some reason couldn't be shown entire, like my beautiful Cav boy snoring his head off besides me right now ;) :D
  7. Congrats to you. It is exciting as a new exhibitor isn't it?? And those ribbons just mean so much and have pride of place don't they  Keep up the good work you two.
  8. It is nice to see different breeds winning for a change. Go The NT for being the first to award Neuter points  I can't wait for the next lot of shows. Soooo excited This will be the longest 2 weeks in history I am sure!! My Cav boy will hopefully get his first points
  9. Well I won't be at the Ekka, but our Royal show is coming up in 3 weeks  We are all very excited and can't wait. We also have the Canine Expo the weekend after the Royal which is 3 shows over 2 days. I have got this gorgeous red high waist satin skirt which goes just below the knees and is pencil style. I like it and I think the satin look is going to be big this year. I also have found this stunning black long sleeve satin top to match with my skirt. Ihope it will look alright and I hope that my dogs don't trip me up For my leads, I have white with a gorgeous arrangement on gold metal and crystal beads on them. (I made them so of course I think they are gorgeous!!!) I have 3 Cavaliers in the Royal this year, 2 entire and 1 neutered, should be good. Come on everybody, no matter where you live we all have A Royal at some point, what is everybody else going to wear??? I am sure we will look back in years to come and think OMG what was I thinking!!
  10. Yes I know that feeling. I have a bitch at the moment that is like dragging a brick around. Harvey my boy is such a big show pony. I also have an entire boy which will be in the ring up here for the first time at the next shows. I am sooo excited and can't wait. Will catch up with you there.
  11. Cavalier!!! I know you have a pappy. There is also another neuter, I think it may be a Tibetan Spaniel. It will be fun. What age is your pappy?? My boy is only just over 14 months old, unfortunately only 1 testicle came down. :p He did reasonably well up until he was 6 months old when I couldn't show him anymore. He actually got Baby Puppy in Group at The Royal last year
  12. Thanks, I looked on the website but in the wrong place!!! LOL :D I am also with you, soooo excited and can't wait for the next 2 weeks to be over. Finally will have my boy in the Neutered class in Group 1. I think he is just as excited as I am!! Can't wait for the Royal either
  13. I am fairly sure that you can get them from www.chinaroadshowdogs.com I am fairly sure they are in Australia.
  14. Does anyone have the results for the Alice Springs shows that were on over the weekend?? Unfortunately I couldn't go hopefully next year!!
  15. Sounds to me like it could be one of two scenarios. If there is, as you say, a gaggle doing a pack attack then either the newbie does in fact have a dud, OR they have something which is very nice and the competition are worried. Whilst I do know that it isn't a nice way to welcome a newbie, the newbie, like everybody else needs to learn to rise above it. The cream always rises to the top. I agree. I am only fairly new as well to the showing world. I did show about 11 years ago and then stopped to have a family and have just gotten back into it about 2 years ago. Yes having a "show potential" dog is the whole purpose of showing, but it should also be because you enjoy the sport and enjoy doing it with your dogs. It just shouldn't be about my dog is better than your dog!! There are extremely nasty people in this sport who will always think that they are better than you, but like ellz said "you just have to rise above all that" and just enjoy being there whether you win or not!! I purchased a "show potential" cav and he only dropped down 1 testicle He was cleared by a vet with 2 testicles descended and cleared to travel up to me. Somewhere along the line his testicles decided that only one wanted to come out and play so now he is desexed and I can't wait to get him in the ring for the Neuter class. I never ever blamed my breeder and just accepted that this is one of many things that can go wrong. My breeder was fantastic and gave me a few options but by the age of 6 months I had fallen so much in love with him and couldn't bring myself to part with him. Now the breeder is sending me another dog (free of charge) that is 12 months old and has 2 testicles!!! That is the difference between a good breeder and a not so good breeder. We also have a Dogue de Bordeux which we also purchased as a "show potential" for my husband to show. We were only able to show him until he was about 5 months old and that is when all he problems started. We tried contacted the breeder on numerous occasions, but once things really got bad they didn't want to know and never responded to our emails or phone calls. Yet when contacted about purchasing another puppy they answered straight away!! Like I said that is the difference between a good breeder and not so good breeder. Always make sure you pick a breeder with a health garantee for at least up until they are 12 months old. I do agree it would be very hard to pick a "show potential" puppy at the age of 8-9 weeks, and the breeder should inform the buyer that these certain things may happen, that way they are aware all the things that may go wrong. I think for new people this is very important, but you should also research the breed extensively before purchasing.
  16. Does anyone know where I could purchase some of the swivels that they have on the show leads. I am making my own and would like to put swivels on them. If anyone has an idea of where to get them in Australia that would be most helpful.
  17. I have been only showing for a couple of years, but the ribbons do mean a bit to me. Up in the NT we don't get ribbons for BOB or CC we only get certificates for those. So we don't get ribbons for RCC or RUBOB either. The only ribbons we get are for the BIG or RUBIG and so forth. Some clubs don't even have ribbons for your Class in Group, all you get is a certificate I understand it must cost a bit, but I am with some others who to them getting a ribbon or certificate do mean alot, and like them have never even had a major award given to them. It always seems to be the same people winning. But I suppose if the same people win over and over then obviously they have a good dog/bitch and deserve it. One day I am sure there will be a judge out who likes my dog over theirs And yes I will probably do cartwheels around the ring
  18. OMG you guys are so funny  I have never done anything as bad as that, but my first show I did trip over the table when the judge asked me to do a triangle. Luckily she was about 80 years old and I don't think she really knew that I had tripped or just didn't care, but I ended up with BCC so it was worth the embarressment of it all
  19. Hey Teamsnag Your leads are gorgeous, where did you get your beads and rings from???
  20. I like megz live in NT and we don't have anything at all like that up here. We are severely disadvantaged when it comes to our show supplies. ;) I had a go at making my own lead and used it on the weekend at the show. I like alot of bling so I had to put some sparkly stuff on mine. :p I went to spotlight and purchased everything I needed even the cord for the lead and made it in no time. I am however after the paracord in several colours so if anyone does have a supplier in Australia, please would you like to share!! So far I have only found some on ebay from the UK which sells in smaller qauntities than 1000ft rolls I am now looking at bead shops online so I can try and source out some cheaper ones as spotlight is a little expensive and also a little limited to what you can buy The tricky part is working out how they actually get them to not slide up and down the lead I just used smaller hole beads to keep the feature beads in place and it seems to have worked but OMG my fingers were sore for days The paracord is much easier to manipulate open to thread the ends in and sew over them to make them nice and neat. I now want to experiment with other colours, and my only dilemma is do I much the colour of my outfit to the lead or do I match it to my dog Just a warning though, I do love to do crafty things and just by making one lead I am addicted and just want to make heaps and heaps I haven't plaited them like you very clever people tho!! So anybody out there that can recommend a good bead shop online and if they know a supplier of the paracord in Australia please share  This is some photos of my first attempt. Sorry that the photos aren't great it is quite difficult to get a good photo
  21. I am VERY aware of the testicle situation!!! Have been to 2 different vets and both have said that it can turn cancerous but unlikely at such a young age. I could possibly wait up until he is 4 -5 years old. Obviously I am not going to wait that long am I??? I have under strict instructions from his breeders been asked to wait until he is at least 12 months old. So at the moment, althought I am concerned about the testicle, I am also concerned about the pee stains!! But thanks for your advice anyway.
  22. I have trimmed his belly hair before and that is ok at the moment as he isn't in the ring, he has only dropped down 1 testicle so he has not been in the ring for about 5 months now. I have thought about shaving it and trimming his feathering and then just having to wash him everytime he pees on himself. At the moment I am washing his belly and legs about 2-3 times a week because he is quite smelly from the urine!! I was wanting to get his white back so that when he is desexed we can show him as neuter and get his title that way. Thanks for your advice tho, the plastic socks sound like it could be the way to go.
  23. Hi There I have an 11 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has a very bad habit of peeing on himself He has gone and stained all his coat on his belly and on the feathering of his front legs I have tried the bicarb soda and vinegar trick with no result at all except it made him smell nice Please any suggestions would be very helpful.
