  1. My understanding is you would have had to have had communicated with us previously if you have received a newsletter email(but obviously without knowing who you are, I can’t speculate any further than that). The Twitter alerts are generated by Twitter (not by us) and so I think you can just unsubscribe generally (and you’ll be prevented from receiving any further Twitter based emails, regardless of which account they relate to).
  2. We are located in south-east Qld (Brisbane for the most part), more than happy to answer any questions you might have either via PM or publicly :) No one should have received an unsolicited email from us, my sincere apologies if that has happened. We have been in the process of setting up a website, which is for the most part being done externally, so I am not sure if that is the reason. In any event, this will be addressed and my apologies again. We certainly have no affiliation with NARGA either - just to clear that up.
  3. Given dingos (and hybrids) are prohibited as pets in Queensland, you might want to reconsider the ‘dingo’ reference in your gumtree listing for him. I would also recommend desexing him prior to rehoming.
  4. Interestingly the prospective adopter states her local ranger is happy to provide written confirmation that our dog, based on the photos he has viewed of her, would not be classified as a restricted breed. He is apparently also happy to state in writing, a classification as a restricted breed would require assessment by 3 separate individials, and would be based on temperament. But my understanding is that the legislation uniformly applies to the entire State? That’s not to suggest that will sway our decision at all.
  5. Thank you Aphra. I have no connection with the Lost Dogs’ Home. LDH happens to be my initials. But I appreciate it might create confusion so should perhaps I should change my account name :)
  6. Thank you all very much for your replies and advice. We certainly aren't prepared to put our dog at risk, nor do we want to impose that sort of burden on prospective owners. How very sad the system appears to be. Thank you all again.
  7. We operate a rescue in south-east Qld and have received an application for one of our dogs. The home on offer appears excellent, and is in Victoria. We are uncertain as to the dog’s exact breeding. Fortunately we have photos of both parents, but again would only be guessing as to their breed makeup. Certainly they are larger breeds, potentially with mastiff/staffy/amstaff in the mix. But I can’t be certain. Obviously we want to rehome our dogs responsibly and don’t want to put the dog or prospective owners at any risk. If we were to arrange DNA testing, would that be sufficient? I appreciate I am largely ignorant of the exact requirements of BSL and would appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance.
  8. There are a few rescues here in Queensland who adopt animals out with a ‘desexing voucher’. I am not sure exactly what that entails but I can’t imagine it is enforceable. I am aware of someone who adopted a staffy x puppy from rescue here on the basis that the dog would be desexed at the rescue’s cost at a later age. She attempted to contact the rescue on numerous occasions to follow through with this and had no response. Finally she arranged and paid for the procedure herself when the dog was 8 months old. A friend of hers who adopted a staffy at the same time from the same rescue has simply decided he wants to leave his dog entire.
  9. Sorry PS, I was not at all intending to erode the value of what you were saying. My frustration was more guessing the source of where you would have obtained your information, and knowing you would not have been given a fair, objective assessment from that source. Rescue in Queensland has expanded considerably in the last few years I guess, and consequently individuals involved become familiar with eachother over time, and clashes are inevitable. I would hope that 3R might be judged on how they operate from here. They are new, with people relatively new to rescue, but I am assuming they are well-intentioned. If they don’t operate properly or ethically – then they should be judged appropriately. On the converse PS, I suspect had you asked a number of other individuals involved in rescue in Qld their view on your source, the reply would perhaps have been equally scathing.
  10. I can assure you that you were not provided with an unbiased, objective viewpoint.
  11. We are having the same issues. Enquiries are now almost non-existent, and the feedback from members of the public is that the site is almost impossible to use. Sadly with very few of our dogs now being adopted we are limited in the new ones we can take on. We have emailed PR direct approx. 2 weeks ago with some queries and never heard back.
  12. Just an update - the breeder isn't in a position to take 'Jack' back at this stage, so we are looking now at other options. Sally, I understand, has a place for him - if that ends up being the most feasible option (would just need to work out transport logistics). Thank you again to everyone.
  13. I have been able to trace this fellow's breeder through his microchip details. I have left a message for them to get back to me to discuss whether they want him back - that of course will be our priority. If not, then we will look at alternative rehoming options for him. We don't profess to have particular expertise in the breed so are grateful that if the need arises, there are breed specific rescue options for him. Thank you again for all the helpful suggestions and advice, it is very much appreciated.
  14. Thank you all for your replies. I spoke with one breeder this afternoon - got the impression it might be hard to track down who bred him. When he arrives on Tuesday we will have him scanned for a chip and see perhaps if the breeder is still noted as a secondary contact. I also called and left a message for Sally earlier this afternoon. Hopefully we can sort something out either way. We are more than happy to get his vet work done, but our preference would be that he is in care/his re-homing is overseen by someone who knows the breed well.
  15. Thank you so much for the suggestions. We would certainly liked to have found his breeder as a first option, I just wasn't sure how to go about that as we have no details of where he came from or his owners. He was rescued from a fairly remote area in central Qld but I am not sure if that is where he came from originally. I will see how I go with breeders and will contact Sally also. Thank you again. Trifecta I have emailed you a photo also :)
