  1. I'm the same as Piper I have the medium, I can fit camera with lens attached Flash with my cleaning kit (would take up the same space as an extra lens) and then I can also fit my 2 bulky purses
  2. I have an Amigo and Akasha (and i usually add s@#@ head to the end when they are in trouble) and a cat Panther (princess, S*#@Head) but all of our animals generally have 3 syllable names and they all understand. Plus if I want the dogs to come to me at home I just open the door
  3. Thanks for your comments everyone. I was just looking to see if it was another option to give the breeder but I would feel better having the dog quarantine in Australia. So I am now looking at how I want to get the lines that I want and I will most likely be just importing semen
  4. well I have just ordered another porteen gear bag but this time a large one this is the colours
  5. Well I have just upgraded from a Pentax Kx to a Nikon D90 the pentax just doesn't have the features that I need to start my photography business and it doesn't have a lot of features that the Nikon or Canon's have like a depth of field button and the nikon has a faster response time. the Pentax will be my backup for now as I still know how to use it effectively and I have a flash for it as well which I don't have for the Nikon yet.
  6. I know we haven't had any posts in the thread for a while but I was just wondering if anyone had seen the new large bag from porteen gear designed to fit a full sized DSLR and 2-4 lenses. Since I just ordered a new Nikon D90 I think it might be time to upgrade the bag as well this time with room for both cameras. What other new bags does everyone have?
  7. I've been talking to international breeders and the ones that I want to import from have issues with Australia's quarantine period. I was wondering if anyone knows if a dog can be quarantined in New Zealand (I think it is 10 or 30 days) and then come straight into Australia? Has anyone else done this? The dog will be coming from the Netherlands or Germany
  8. Casima - you just cope 1 minute at a time what breed are you getting?
  9. I'm getting a German Shepherd puppy so I need toys that are tough, at least I think. Definitely getting a Kong and maybe something else from that brand (Kong Wubba maybe). Might get a Snugga Wubba to double as a soft toy. Do your dogs like tug toys? When I first got my White Shepherd I bought heaps of toys but then found that all she wanted to play with was balls. So my suggestion would be to get something from each sort of toy and then just try and find which ones are the chosen toys for your particular dog.
  10. Zug Zug, don't get cold feet just because the litter is interstate if you feel confident in the breeder they should ask you lots of questions so that they can match a pup to what your situation is. I am importing from overseas and have been having the same feelings however just think if you trust your breeder and you get along then you should be fine. Good luck hope you find the right puppy and the right breeder. Update on my White Swiss Shepherd puppy from Czech Republic - the bitch reabsorbed the puppies and didn't end up with any pups So Now I'm going to look at Swedish Breeders and hope I find the right lines.
  11. Hi welcome to DOL it is a great place to chat and get info and help with any issues. What is the breed of the puppies? I bet you can't wait until you get Shelby and the next 2 weeks will just crawl. . You should be fine with her even with your husband being gone to begin with. We need photos of both puppies . Great pics everyone hope all the puppies are doing well. I still have another 2-3 weeks until my puppy is born and I will find out if I may have a puppy and then I just have 10-12 months to wait. I think I am a sucker for punishment and it was hard enough waiting 15 weeks for my current girl.
  12. When I had to have injections for my pup she was loosing quite a lot of hair otherwise I would have just let it run its course. I found the injections worked wonders. That is just my experience.
  13. Well I am on count down to though mine is a little longer. My countdown to the birth ;) My countdown to arriving at my place Weeks really put it in perspective.
  14. My pup has Demodex Mites/ mange and the vet gave her 6 weeks of injections and then did another test to make sure it was gone and then 3 months of Advocate treatment I haven't had anymore outbreaks of this since but it has only been 6 months since the last treatment.
  15. How exciting :D But also nerve wracking. Are you getting a dog or a bitch? :D A fluffy newf baby!!! How adorable! Sorry to hear about your pup Katie P - what breed are you getting? I'm getting a bitch. She is going to be the start of my breeding kennel.
  16. Wow, Dwilds, that puts the weeks some of us are waiting in prospective. It makes the 3 months I waited to start with for my first white shepherd look short. it is going to be excruciating to wait so long but will be worth it
  17. Exciting!! Damn about the long wait though......piccers when you can!! Is it going to be costy to import? It is costly but it will be worth it for the new lines. The wait is going to be the most difficult
  18. I heard from my breeder in the Czech Republic there has been a mating of the lines i've been waiting on and the litter is expected in the middle of july. She won't get to me til about 10 months old. My breed is White Swiss Shepherd.
  19. I agree. There are an awful lot of overweight dogs out there whose owners state that they have to change their food regularly becasue 'they get bored with it'. More like the dogs eat larger volumes than they need when food is new and interesting, fast forward a few days/weeks and the dogs eat enough to satisfy themselves instead of eating for pleasure. I assume this is an older pup if you brought him/her home in august? I wonder if growth has slowed and your pup just doesnt need as much food as previously. Some dogs will naturally regulate their own food intake especially if its not 'interesting'. I have a dog like that - when its plain old dry food she will go days on end eating half a cup of food a day or less (sometimes nothing). Add some tablescraps to the bowl and she would eat until vomiting if allowed. She is never underweight, but if there are lots of goodies being given she gets fat easily enough! Are there any other signs that worry you such as weight, behaviour etc? If not then I wouldnt worry about switching around unless it makes you feel good. Thanks For everyones replies. My pup is 10 months old now. On RC GSD she would take a piece then spit it out, it didn't matter if I added different meats. I have been noticing that she was actually loosing weight and getting way too skinny. I think her growing has slowed but it didn't explain her weight loss. I have now changed to a almost complete raw diet and she is getting to a healthy weight again.
  20. I'm looking into other options for feeding my pup K9 Natural looks like it is better then Vets All Natural which I was going to feed my pup when I first got her in August but changed to Royal Canin GSD Jr. She has gone off eating that as I think she is sick of the flavour. I think K9 natural might be better for her because I can alternate the flavours so she doesn't get sick of one flavour. What are your opinions on these products
  21. Tablelands Regional Council has 2 Dogs rule without permits but you can get a permit to keep more. No permit or limit is required if you have land that is over 8.1 hectares. I have asked and asked and it is funny that noone at the council can give an answer without the paperwork being submitted and the application fee paid. ETA If you want a kennel permit you have to go through town planning but they still can't tell you what is required for the permit *shrugs*
  22. I have been having problems with my young dog and so now i'm looking for professional help if i wqs close to sydney i would go to k9pro but since i'm not i need to find someone closer Any suggestions would be great
  23. So I'm looking into what I can use to organise my dog things as I have so much of it. Do you have the toys separate from leads and harnesses etc.? what do you group together? do you hang leads? What do you store them in? Box, draws, etc.? Do you keep your dog equipment ie gloves, treat bags, etc. with the other stuff?
  24. Well I can finally say that I'm waiting for a puppy Again. I'm importing a White Swiss Shepherd from the Czech Republic. The mating hasn't occurred yet (happening June/ July) but I should get her in 15 months with all the import regulations and quarantine things. She will hopefully be my first breeding bitch and she will add new lines to our tiny (ANKC recognised) gene pool. It is all dependant on whether the pup passes all the health testing (teeth, xrays, etc.) 6 weeks prior to entering Australia. Mum thinks I'm stupid when I already have one but who can pass up a WSS
