  1. Thanks Steve and Jane for a great workshop. I learnt so much. Steve, you'll be pleased to know that I started NILIF with Tyler the minute we got home last night. Everything that you said made so much sense. I learnt heaps and this morning we added another 1% of good experiences with Big dogs. Also on our afternoon walk I used what you taught to read what Tyler was telling me, and crossed the road when she was showing avoidance. Thanks Julie for you hospitality. It was nice to meet everyone.
  2. Jacqui, I have not been on DOL for a while and had not read about Molly until now. Reading through the thread it sounds as if she has had such a dramatic improvement. I hope it keeps up. Hugs and kisses to you and Molly, keeping my fingers crossed that she keeps improving at such a fantastic rate.
  3. Maybe try mixing a little chicken stock in with vegies. Tyler has been on BARF for almost a week. The first night I mixed kidneys in with her vegies, she hated it! Second night I mixed a little chicken stock with vegies, she ate them all. From then on I haven't mixed the vegies with anything and she eats them all up, licks the bowl clean and loves them. I gave her a vegie mix of pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots, celery, beans, coconut, broccoli and cauliflower.
  4. Well Divine Angel it's time to swap vets. I took Tyler in for a consult today to discuss putting her on BARF. Even though I have never fed Tyler canned food he told me how bad it was for her, and was more than happy for me to swap her to BARF. He is interested in learning about BARF with me and has asked me to bring Dr Billinghursts books in and we will go through the transform together. He said that BARF is an exceptionally good diet as long as you can get the right balance. Cant wait for my books to arrive so that Tyler can start a healthier life.
  5. Thanks Rebanne, but I wasn't actually comparing dogs to humans, just stating that mince contains more bacteria than larger pieces of meat, and I certainly didn't say there was anything wrong with raw. *Edited for poor typing
  6. Perhaps you would be better feeding larger pieces of meat rather than mince. Mince contains more bacteria than larger pieces as there is more surface area for the bacteria to multiply. This is why humans must cook their mince to well done. Just a thought.
  7. Possum Poo. I had no idea it was toxic. Possums have been going crazy along our fence line lately, and so has my dog. How do I stop her eating possum poo. It is too small for me to find and get rid of in the mornigs, but she always finds it. I had no idea it was toxic. She hasn't shown any signs of ill health.
