  2. Hi There I teach at Beachwood Dog School in Aldinga Beach www.muckypups.com.au/beachwood we do one on one lessons and also group classes. If you are just after loose lead walking and manners lessons we can definatley help. We do our private lessons either at your house or on our training grounds in Aldinga Beach. We train on 10 acres of fully fenced off land we also have seperate fenced off areas for off lead work etc so we are fully set up. We also have a trainer who does dog walking in her spare time if that would help you. We are a reward based club and promote and sell Sense-ible front connection harnesses as we feel they are the best. If you fancy coming down for a chat and a look around go onto our website and send me an email and i will tell you times etc. Sales pitch over lol - just so you know you have options :)
  3. I have tried heaps of treat pouches but find the Premier bag the best by far, i have been using mine everyday for over a year now and its been fantastic much better than the black dog ones as the opening is bigger and the hinges are stronger (the hinges went on my black dog one). They sell them on ebay :) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Premier-Dog-Training-Treat-Pouch-bag-Terry-Ryan-FREE-POST-/270873833946?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item3f1156b1da
  4. Hi The club i teach at is looking into starting up rally-o for fun. I just wandered if any clubs south of adelaide are already doing it as we would love to come and watch and get some pointers. Also does anyone know of a really good rally-o book with current rules etc Thanks
  5. I went to Rainbow farm last year it was lovely but they had a problem with the neighbours dogs jumping over the fence and coming into the propertys garden. This was a real downer for me as it meant i couldnt let my dog out into the garden by himself and i was always wary. It would be worth checking to see if this problem was fixed before booking. I have stayed at Bailey beach house in Goolwa a few times its a great place, not far from the beach, the dogs are allowed inside and it has 2 seperate fenced off gardens but it does have an upstairs.
  6. something i forgot to say in my previous post with a sense-ible you can attach the lead to the harness and also to the collar to give you extra security. I do this quite a lot with extra bouncy dogs as it doesnt effect how the harness works at all. :)
  7. Hi, A front connection harness will not reduce the behaviour much if at all but it will definately take the strain away from the neck and give you more control than a flat collar if the dog did lunge. Sadly there is no substitute for training with a behaviour like that. I have been using sense-ible harnesses for a few years on various dogs big and small including some that have originally been reactive and couldnt recommend them highly enough.
  8. Thanks for the great suggestions i will pass them on
  9. Hi There This is a bit of a weird one, I teach pet dog puppy classes and last night had 2 people ask me the same question - This is so weird as of all the years i have been doing it nobody has asked me this and then 2 people asked me one after the other. Anyway the owners of the pups i am teaching have cats that have been happily living with the family but since the pups arrived the cats have turned a little feral. One lady was telling me her cat has actually started attacking her and the other ladys cat is attacking the puppy. The puppy in this case is running off which i guess is reinforcing the cats behaviour. They are trying to keep the cats and pups apart but with the case of the cat attacking the pup aparting from locking one outside they are at a loss of what to do as the cat jumps over any barriers they pup up to get to the pup. Has anyone got any suggestions ? Thanks
  10. Oh cool i am glad you liked it at Beachwood but i guessed it would be a bit far for you now Sorry i cant think of any clubs up your way that have secure fencing i would suggest keeping Esky on a long line if you are worried :)
  11. Hi There Beachwood Dog School is totally fenced off and has 2 additional fenced off areas for off lead practice but its way down in Aldinga Beach so might be a bit far for you to travel.
  12. Does anyone know if you would get penalized for not wanting to use a choke chain or prong collar during the practical sessions on the NDTF course. (please no comments about why i dont want to use them) :)
  13. I love Sense-ible Harnesses, I have used them for years and have never had any problems. You can get them on Ebay from an Aussie seller :) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sense-ible-Front-Connection-Dog-Harness-medium-large-large-sizes-FREE-POST-/270825269002?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item3f0e71a70a
