  1. Could someone please be so kind and explain to me the meaning - when this appears next to a listed pound dog:

"Has local interest but needs urgent rescue back up."

I wonder then, why does the person/persons interested in that dog, not get the dog out of the pound/pay the pound fee, instead wait for a rescue back up?? Do they need rescue back up to get a dog out of Mildura Pound?

  2. That's where the escape artists were roaming around, State Forest surrounded by vacant land. Explains why nobody had seen them in the whole week they were missing. To the left our place and cottage, the pink spot to the right shows where we found our Strolchie, at a neighbour's vacant hobby farm. :(

  3. Hi Rae, unfortunately I lost Strolchie's litter mate Struppie on the 22.06.13 from Lymphoma. I still have to write his Tribute in Rainbow Bridge. So both are gone too soon for my liking. I still got Adi, the nearly 3 year old GWP from Victoria, who likes his beard shaved off. Dogs in my signature are Struppie and Adi. I think your Liz's beard looks similar to what Strolchie's looked like. :)

  4. Hi Rae, thanks for your words of comfort. :) We were very impressed with Java's accomplishments in US and here, also Wesley's, so decided to pick two pups from same litter/as company for each other, when we were in town. They were very proud and kind dogs, real clowns as can be seen in photos.

So far we owned four dogs from that Kennel, started when Anne was still alive. We never dreamed we would lose both pets so premature. Have fun with your gorgeous GWPs. Vera :)

  5. Thanks heaps, persephone, Bindo, kayla1, BlueyLove, Anne, stans mum, for your compassion and support, helps a lot to send me on my way. In all our sadness and disappointment, we are relieved now that Struppie is free of pain.

He was a happy boy - every day of his life, his tail always wagging, even when visiting the vet, whom he kissed when being given an injection. Also he was entire, he never growled at another dog, or wanted a fight, only wanted to be friends with them all. Of course all the vets loved him, he was never any trouble for them, he even accepted their cat. When we brought home 10 week old Adi, he patiently raised him, accepted all the pulling and tugging, and being dragged around the yard by his collar. Adi seems happy with Teddy, at other times I think he is more scared now without Struppie, the excellent watch dog. Struppie is buried next to Strolchie, and the other two GWPs Raudi and Merkel, in a paddock overlooked from the house - in a pretty spot near the river, heads turned towards home.

    :(

  6. Thank you so much shepherds, coogie, harley, k9angel, for your kind thoughts and comfort, and the beautiful picture and poem - which I will save and cherish. Struppie put up a great fight, up and down it went all the way. Only watched with sadness towards the end, had to stop his suffering. He wagged his tail and kissed me on his last day, but had stopped eating, and lost weight rapidly,

I think his cancer had advanced. He gained 13 months of what I think was a fairly happy life, that's the best I could do for him. Now my dream is over, the two pups whom my daughter and I picked from the lovingly bred litter, have not been granted the long life I wished for. But they had a ball together while they were with us.

  7. Thank you all for your kind words. Deek, sorry to read about your dog's bad luck. :( I think the photos speak of my devotion to Strolchie. He used to freeze for photos to be taken, would not move till I said finished. He tried to beat Struppie at anything/all the time, wanted to be the best. Will love him forever.
