  1. wouldnt consider an amstaff a beginners breed either.

No that's definitely a fair call.

The 3 year old amstaff I have owned under a week definitely did what I would call protect me the other night.

I was taking her for a walk which I normally don't do without the boyfriend but anyway there was a group of 3 blokes who came up next to us and started being d!cks, asking what someone like me was doing out so late etc and started getting up in my face and one guy put his arm around me. My dog growled at them and they backed off..To me that's protective but I sure as hell wouldn't call it aggressive? :(

    Can't spell sorry!

  2. I'm having a bit of an issue with my new puppy.

He's a feet chaser and nipper! do i need to just keep telling him no when he does it or has anyone else got any other ideas? his favourite is nipping heals and yesterday made my boyfriend's ankle bleed.

  3. Just hoping some Staffordshire Bullterrier breeders or someone who knows abit about them could inbox me and explain to me what the problem with blue staffies is? I don't want to cause a huge debate on the forum so please only inbox me.

    :)

    Thanks..

  4. Nice dogs you have there, Are Scout and Bronson related?

Zeke looked like a lovely boy, his face reminds me of Cesar Milans Daddy, very wise and knowing!

He does a bit doesn't he

No Scout and Bronson aren't related at all but they act like mother and son :)

  5. Yes, as my APBT aged I got VERY emotional.

My mum bought him for me for my 11th Birthday after the family cat was run over.

We went through so much together, sometimes I even wagged high school just to spend the day at the beach with him :D

I got so protective of him in his last years I dumped two boyfriends for yelling at him or smacking him because he peed on the floor or chewed something

I'm almost 26 now and I only lost him in September 2010 to cancer. My heart shattered like you wouldn't believe.

  6. She could probably do with a little bit of weight, but she's far from an RSPCA case. Can we get a full body shot of her so we can see her face too?

Sure, sorry. I was just trying to show the frame of her.

I have a couple but they don't show the rest of her very well, I'm doing well aren't I

Maybe I'm coming across wrong here. I don't want her bulky, a keg, tank or anything else! I just didn't think it was normal for ribs to be showing :o

  7. Hello again

I have uploaded a couple of photos I just took of her.

I have a feeling I'm going to get the same responses, which is fine! I guess I'm just not used to seeing dogs like this..

And because I can't resist, a photo of Bronson who arrived today. He and Scout get along beautifully..

  8. I googled "lean Amstaff" and came up with this shot.

Note the hint of rib. If she looks like that side on, I'd be wrapped!! Dog has obvious tuck, and clearly defined waist.

    Hmm ok..

Well I have to agree and say she does look quite similar to that :) I've never seen an amstaff in this kind of shape before..

I used to own an APBT and he was a very solid dog up until the day I lost him at 14 years old, so to me, the dog looks underweight :thumbsup:

So, are you all suggesting she is fine the way she is and not try and put weight on her?

I will upload more photos after work.

  9. What is it that you need to know about BARF? What to feed, how much to feed? Have you ever raw fed before, or are you looking to take that leap?

Generally with raw feeding I would feed more meals per day to put on weight, not load up any meal with more food. I wouldn't change the meat/fat/bone/calcium ratio or add anything new.

I curious why you purchased this dog if you were so unhappy with her condition.

Yes pretty much just what to feed and how much. Never fed BARF before but would like to after having a chat to the Vet about dry food.

Would like to feed it to my pup aswell when he arrives but I'm thinking of giving him Eagle Pack dry food with it until he's about 1yr only because I was told it's harder to get everything right in a BARF diet for young puppies..?

I was basically considering the dog for a fortnight. Talking with this breeder and seeing if she would fit in etc. When I was sent photos of her she looked completely different to what she did when I got there to pick her up.

Yesterday, about an hour before I was due to leave and get her, I was told she wasn't actually at this guys house but at his mates house as he had moved to Southern Cross..

I called him up after I got her and asked when the last time he saw her was - 4 weeks before hand, he had apparently been transfering money to his mate to feed the dog. Somehow I don't think the money was going on her. After I explained the situation and emailed him this photo late yesterday, he said she didn't look like that when she left his house.

Anyway..I was hardly going to leave her there over something that can be fixed. If she was aggressive or something it would be a different story.

  10. Who said anything about kegs.

Their bones shouldn't be showing  I'm sure your opinions will change with another photo. Can anyone actually help with the BARF side of things?

Your opinion. Last three ribs showing is acceptable to me.

She doesn't lack muscle. If her vertebrae were visible I'd say she was underweight.

    Agree to disagree :)
