  1. We bred our litter specifically hoping for a bitch. The first five born were boys... I was starting to panic a little!! We did end up with three lovely girls... amongst the nine brothers...

Photos from today. These are our "small" six. Who are now nearly as big as the bog boys, and even the littlest two, the silver one on top, and the little red & white one, are powering ahead!

And this close-up just 'cause I love the happy smile on the little boy on the right...

They are just gorgeous. I love the puppy smell.

  2. Oh wouldn't life be so much easier if she would eat on her own :mad At least she is still eating which is the main thing atm

SHe is not as big as with her last litter and she had 7 then so we will see. I have said 6, 2 of my friends have said 4 and 5 so we will just have to wait and see. I bet this is going to be the longest 2 weeks eva :(

I am crossing fingers all goes well for you.

  3. with 7 days to go poor Willow has refused her breakfast and looks like she is going to explode. Though no temp drop yet her Vulva is ready so crossed fingers she holds another 1 or 2 days to get the pups a little bigger. Going to try the cooked chopped chicken and see if she will eat this.

  4. Congratulations Yarrowfell all I can say is WOW

Well i think I am next in line for puppies to arrive day 60 today.

Wish they could give us a day and timeto be ready

Gee wouldnt it be great if they could warn us and say "how does tomorrow at 10 am sound?" giggle giggle

  5. Willow had her xray and vet check today and we counted 11 skulls with the possibility of a couple under the ribs. We have 10 days to go and are very excited but worried as well (Willows first and possibly last litter). Any good advice would be helpful. My little 24kg girl is already at 32kg and is starting to get thin (visible backbone and slight sunk between hips) on heeps of food (double her usual food amount and on puppy food).

  6. YAY jerojath!! Of all the days I wasn't watching the forum!! 5 is great! Yours are big babies. My biggest was 400g at birth and my smallest 285g but hes a little pocket rocket so I wasn't too worried about him, I just make sure he gets a teat first and they've all gained weight since yesterday, 2 dropped on day 2 but are back up above birth weight today.

Had a trip to the vet today as we have sOme lumpy hard tissue near the very back teats plus a reddened area near each.,.,,?mastitis? Vet said it's early so we can't be sure but it's definitely not completely normal and it's best to give the antibiotics and be sure than to let it get worse. Said pups are all looking great though and so is mum.

Can't wait to see pics jerojath! Now we wait for zzz and pugs!

Dont forget to give mum so yoghurt jetpoint (or yakult or any prebiotic). It will help with the antibiotics to keep her tummy more settled.

  7. I have been busy difinfecting all whelping area. Which will be in my computer room where I have a bed set up for me, pantry/cupboard for all whelping stuff. Have sterilised everything, um, what else, oh, got plastic crate ready for puppies, now I just have to set up heat lamp to get temp right, and probably redo everything when it is nearer to her due date. Talk about being organised hehe

lol. I have been doing the same thinsgs. Just waiting for my package from Sway to arrive with the coloured neckbands and I am set. Have my tubs ready filled with towels and my medical kit in case. This is soooo exciting now.

  8. Just a quick question as Willow is HUGE poor darling and has 12 days left to go. She is on 4 meals and has been for a week now but she is struggling to fit in food. Do you guys leave food down with a bitch when she gets to this point? It is pre swollen so she cant over stuff and then swell with a big tummy ache. She also sleeps nearly all day (or lays down all day). I am walking her very slowly around the block once a day.

We have an xray this Thursday scheduled but I seriously doubt it will tell us much except there are alot there.

Cheers and Congrats on the new babies they look very big and healthy.

  9. Fantastic thread idea and perhaps worth a pinning. We are due in two weeks and a maiden bitch who looks to be having a large litter. We are having xrays later this week to check. I will be watching this thread with great enthusiasm to see any tips or advice for helping mum (and me) to raise a happy, healthy litter.

Fenugreek for bringing on Milk is the first tip (I even used it when pregnant and it was brilliant).

  10. My sheltie litter arrived a few days early. The Xray proved to be correct with a count of 7 unfortunately we could not revive the last pup.

    Final Count

5 Sable and White Boys ( full white collars)

    1 Sable and white girl

And of course I was wanting a girl to run on and the girl is the plainest of the 6 pups.

Gabby is being a good first time mum and is being very attentive to her new tribe. Will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

First Pup ( the bitch) was born at 3pm closely followed by the first of the boys By 4pm we had a total of 4 pups and with each passing pup my comment of another bloody boy.

After a small rest of about and hour and a half she whelped another 2 boys by 6pm.

At 7pm she whelped the final pup a still born girl/

My last Dalmatian litter 7 years ago we had 10 boys and 2 girls and the girls were VERY spotty and all the boys were beautiful. Of course we wanted a girl. Congratulations and good luck.

  11. I have heard alot of good reports about that Ferugreek stuff. I might have to go and get some next week.

Cynda is starting to look swell  Will be 5weeks tomorrow from first mating. SHe is eating although I have to hand feed her still. She happily sat at the table today while my son and I were doing some schoolwork and me handfeeding her 1,yes 1, biscuit at a time :mad But then I managed a few more and all up, she would of had about a handful. Bloody bitches, gotta love'm :D

I have the opposite problem. my almost 6 week preggo Dalmatian is eating everything (tried chomping on hubbies mobile phone. She has become a hoover!! At 6 weeks she already looks like huge!

Does anyone know if you can get a chiropractor to adjust a bitchs back when in whelp? Is it safe?

  12. Wohoo....Confirmed Dalmatian puppies due about the 24th July. Seven years since our last litter so a little scary but fingers crossed its a small litter and we will be great. lets just hope there is a little girl in there for us to show. rub a dub dub.

  13. Wow. so many scares now I know why I don't breed very often..Its been 7 years since our last litter.

Fingers crossed we are going for an ultrasound Friday night to confirm a pregnancy (don't think its really needed as she is already looking big in waist without extra food but I am excited)

Hopefully our Dalmatian litter will arrive here safetly 20th July.

Fingers crossed for you all as well.
