Missy doesn't guts down her food it takes her 15-20 minutes to eat 3/4 cup of food. It doesn't matter what she does after she has eatten her farts are still rotten. She doesn't seem to be farting much on raw or scratching alot but raw is costing me alot more to feed 4 dogs, I still think theres something in black hawk thatis causing her bad farts.

Shes not as bad now but can still see 4 ribs and the hip bones. But I just don't like the idea of Misty not eatting much and threw up once on wednesday night. My sister has been giving this special puppy milk and shes been giving her that. Heres the picture she posted on facebook it doesn't really show her condition to well.Her coat is very dull and lifeless.

I know Erny my parents are complaining on how much time and effort and specially money I spend on the dogs. They always saying why don't you just feed a simple kibble, Well Nissy my whippet does horrible farts on black hawk and thats classed a premium food. My parents want me too feed supermarket food, If missy farts bad on black hawk I would hate to see what she would do on cheap supermarket food. I think its the lamb meat in the black hawk causing her bad farts but can't be sure. Missy handles pork,chicken,turkey,beef and roo prefectly fine either that or it's cause the food is cooked. If I could find a kibble that would agree with Missy I would probably use it, but in the long run I could be spending more on kibble then on raw. I eat Garlic, makes my breath stink but its good for me, I eat eggs they make my farts stink but they are good for me, I eat Bake Beans and boy they make my farts stink, yet they are good for me, so why isn’t my dog allowed to fart ? or burp ? its ok for all other animals to do so ? cows and methane ?? I would have thought that farting was a healthy part of life :laugh: I know animals fart just like us humans do but tell me is it normal for a dog to fart 10 times in 10 minutes an hour after they have eatten? I mean there really smelly its like you can't breath or stand being around her when she does it.

I'm not happy Misty still hasn't been to the vet she didn't eat on wednesday or thursday and has thrown up once, I can't report her as she is my sister plus she will know it came from me. If Misty was my dog she would have been at the vets weeks ago,I wouldn't have let it go this long. My sister is in denial she thinks Misty is going to get better.

I don't think I want one that covers the bum,she wil end up pooing and probably peeing on it. Missy is mainly inside she is outside during the day if its sunny. The coat really only gets put on if its cold out when we go for walks or monday nights when we go to obedience, other then that Missy lays on our bed with a blanket on or infront of the heater.

Have you changed your mind about the raw diet? I notice that lamb seems to cause more tummy problems too. Yeah I've just relised I have spent $400 this fornight and the raw food will only last 3 weeks between 4 dogs so its working out pretty expensive. I can't get cheap meat where I am, even for 4 chicken frames it costs me $6. Where I am nothing is cheap even butchers charge alot for the off cuts of meat they don't really use. My guys will still be getting a raw meal in the morning but kibble at night.

I went to horseland and got a weatherbeeta coat for Missy my whippet its wind,water proof and its very warm for her to wear. Now I have to teach Missy to recall with coat on,She recalls beautifully when coat is off but won't move when coat is on lol.

I just got the earthborn holistic grain free coastal catch to try with Missy my whippet, I am trying to find a kibble that will agree with her, She has horrible gas on black hawk holistic which is lamb based, I've also noticed all my dogs seem to scratch a fair bit on black hawk holistic, I've been told that lamb causes more allergies then any other meat not sure if thats true. My guys can handle beef,chicken,pork,turkey and roo without any problems.

I've tryed coprice,great barko,bonnie,dog pro, My dogs would eat the coprice,great barko for a couple of weeks then no longer touch it, bonnie they would eat the time,dog pro they sniffed it then walked away lol. Cause I have just started out feeding raw it has cost me a bit more, But looking at the barf patties $24 for 12 patties for 4 dogs I would need 5 boxes which would cost $120 for 2 weeks worth. The barf patties would be alright if you only had 1 or 2 dogs to feed but for myself it cost way to much. I do tend to go over board when getting things for my dogs so I do spend more on them then myself, This fortnight I have spent $200 just on food and supplements. I mainly get my mince from bucket o beef which works out cheaper, I then buy chicken thighs or fillets cut them in chunks,beef off cuts cut into chunks,chicken giblets,chicken hearts.liver,lamb heart,liver,kidney,ox kidney,pig kidney,pork mince,diced pork,beef mince, I have flaxseed oil and vets all natural health booster supplement. Then the veggies I use zuccini,carrots,bok choy,celery,broccli,cooked brown rice,tomatoe really anything they can eat that I have on hand. Then for bones I have chciken frames,turkey legs and wings,ox tails,chicken wings. For rascal my chihuahua I have chicken wings cut in half,ox tail,chicken necks, chicken drumlets and turkey wings cut in half. Just stocking the freezer in the begining can cost a bit but it does get cheaper each fornight as I'll only replace what I have used.

Do you make sure your dogs always have fresh clean water available? They both looked hot and lethargic there, they both had tongues out and were panting and one dog was licking the tap, but I could see no sign of a bowl of water anywhere. Yes they had fresh water in the varander in the shade. They were both tired but still wouldn't stop playing,Missy is always licking the tap specially after it was turned on. My dogs always have fresh water aviable to them,they even have a bowl inside for them too. When Misty is around Missy will not stop playing even if she is flat out standing up she will still try and play.

I had my guys on black hawk kibble and raw minced meat and bones they all were scratching on and off throughout the day,Missy my whippet had bad farts eg clear the room farts. I changed them to a raw food diet they have only been on it for a week and already there no longer scratching, Missy is no longer doing those horrible farts. There must be something in black hawk kibble that doesn't agree with my dogs.

This isn't the dog that you're referring to in the other thread where you're concerned about not being able to put weight on, is it? Missy looks good in the weight stakes, to me. :) And good on you for working to put together a good wholesome raw meal. I wish my dog could and would eat all those different meats so I could have the freedom of mixing, changing, adding etc. It's time consuming though, so reward yourself for your effort by patting yourself on your back. No Erny Missy isn't the dog that can't put weight on she is great. My sisters dog is the one that won't put the weight back on after being sick. I'm trying my hardest to get my sister to take her to the vet. Thanks I want to do whats best for my dogs there my babies, I'm getting some new meat next week beef and roo and roo chunks have to wait for them to get them in. My chihuahua rascals coat looks to have gone whiter and brighter, I actually got him to eat a bone today. He went off them wouldn't touch them which is werid cause he loves bones but today he eat one no worries. I have also noticed my dogs aren't scratching like they did before.

No my dogs have been good none are lossing weight fast considering Rascal is still on a diet to lose weight he is half of what he was tho. Rascal I think does need a antibiotic as he is sneezing bad I think what they call reverse sneezing, He shakes his head when he sneezes, looks like a helicopator taking off lol. Other then that all my dogs are healthy, I'll be making a appointment for Rascal tommorrow to get checked out.

Missy about a month ago being feed raw minced meat,bones and black hawk kibble Missy tonight after a week of eatting raw minced meat,bones,veggies

Mildura area in victoria. The vets she takes her dog too is the same I take my dogs too, They can be a pain sometimes eg not listening to the owner of the dog. As it is I will have to take my chihuahua Rascal back in for the same problem I took him in last week coughing,snorting he has collapse trachea but the coughing and snorting is worse, He isn't himself. He is still drinking and eating but will not eat bones which he loves to chew on. The other vet charges the earth and are just the same.

I'm reading that thread now, I keep re reading that thread too. I know they don't need brown rice but I give it mainly to fill them up. Here are some I made up today, it has 3 carrots 1 bunch of bok choy 1 full broccli 1 cup of cooked brown rice 6 tablespoons of flaxseed oil 5 egggs (they ate the crushed shells with dinner tonight) 1 teaspoon of minced garlic 1kg of chicken thighs cut into pieces 500grams of chicken giblets 1kg of chicken mince I may cut back on the veggies this normally makes 3 days worth of food for 2 golden retrievers,1 whippet and a chihuahua.

Hi everyone My dogs have been eatting a raw diet for a week now and there looking better. Missy is no longer doing horrible farts and her coat is looking and feeling better. I just hope I'm giving them what they need. This is what I have been feeding. I do give veggies I put through the blender which cuts them up finely. I also cook up some brown rice, The meat I use is chicken,beef,chicken and roo,chicken giblets, pork and turkey when on sale. I use chunks of meat and minced meat. I will try to give bones every 2nd to 3rd day. So this is what I put in my batch. Broccli carrots zuccini bok choy 5 eggs and shell 3kgs of chunky and minced meat teaspoon oF minced garlic 1 cup of cooked brown rice 6 tablespoons of flaxseed oil I also add 5ml of vets all natural health booster powder to each dogs meal, Once a week I will add offal to there meal (did that tonight Missy had a runny poo) might have given too much offal, Also once a week I will add some sardines,salmon or maceral to the batch.

my sister is going to make some satin balls for Misty, When she picked her up she took Misty to the vets to weigh her she weighed 9.9kgs. She then feed Misty 400grams of pet mince 2 chicken necks and some goodos each day, took her back to the vets to re weigh a week later 9.8kgs. I've told her this dog needs to see a vet, She rang the vets up and they said give it another month.If it were me I would have demended them to see her. I couldn't get Misty in the vets when she was here as they were closed, My sister picked up Misty on monday early afternoon.

I just weighed Misty on our digital bathroom scales she weighs 10kgs, I also weighed Missy and she weighs 11.1kgs and is looking great. I'm not making excuses I know my sister needs to take her to the vet she gets back on monday or tuesday. Altho she gave me premission to take Misty if need be but What I would get done full bloodwork etc my sister probably won't agree to it. I can't really do much execpt feed her proper food for now as she isn't my dog. My sister is feeding her as much as she is willing to eat at each meal. I've managed to get her to eat 4 small meals today, tommorrow I'll go up town and get some yoghurt. I'm doing what I can for Misty, I'm trying my hardest to get her to eat a better diet while here.
