  1. Oh come on..... I was having a laugh - trying to lighten the thread a little. Which is why I put the other little emoticons down the bottom, to make it clear....obviously not clear enough.

Sorry for trying to be friendly.

I'm laughing Dru, I could see where you were coming from...

hey jacq glad to see you can sees it now too.

  2. agree with eridor & lillysmum....

nothing on ankc pages for this dog name..

BUT for grooming tips I agree the burs are a pain in the butt... the best way is to use conditioner to brush them out, I have a Bedlington Terrier and no matter how short or long I clip him he is still a burr magnet.

  3. I am not saying your dog has fleas but there could be fleas in the dirt that he is lying in.. & he could have a flea allergy.

Friends had a BC that had this & she was the cleanest dog out there but because she kept laying in dirt under a specific tree she kept getting a reaction to the fleas in the dirt.

I would if possible keep him confined from that area, treat it for fleas & him as well.

Wandering jew if not removed by digging under the root system can still be active in the ground as well.

Other possibilities has the area he is laying in been treated either with a fertiliser or weed killer?

  4. i voted other...

we use an alternate routine weekly (its the only way to put weight on nikki) and it goes between

    advance puppy

    coprice

    pedigree working dog

& another I wont name as everyone will go

But it works for us, so until I can get one that offers me a mix of all its 4 different foods all with their own little bit she gains from it & the boys are just pigs & eat whatever you put in the bowl infront of them.

  5. If your kibble of preference is the best kibble than you should be able to just post I feed XXX kibble & then other peoples post should either back up your statement or decline it after all you shouldnt need to denegrade another product if yours is the best than the consumer results should show that.

Personally I believe what ever your dog does best on is what you should use..

I have 4 dogs here (6 atm) and have 4 different sorts of kibble... of varying prices,

We have had a hell of a time keeping weight on Nikki since we moved, she eats twice the amount of the boys but burns it off twice as fast as well & really started to thin down.. she is our reason for various kibbles.... some of them out there give her the runs & others just dont give her the fat & protien levels she needs...

I would if i were you Mickatie, be prepared for a series of trial & error with your kibble, speak to other sibe people in your genre (sorry cant remember if you are conformation showing or sledding) what works for their dogs?? Maybe then do a 2mth trial on each until you find the one that is giving you the results you want.

  6. Just curious, does anyone choose not to feed HSD because they are owned by Colgate Palmolive who do animal testing on their products? I know the HSD web site says it only keeps and treats animals in a humane way but they are still owned by CP so I'm just wondering if anyone boycots them for that reason.

Wasnt aware of that .... BUT we boycott it basically & solely on the fact that they support & sponsor the RSPCA.

If they didnt do that I would try it but whilst the sponsorship is there it wont enter our house..

  7. Pandora I fed pedigree puppy once in an emergency as it was all I was able to buy when I had left the other food at home & we were away, we had sloppy poos for days after even after I had changed back to our normal food.

I feed advance puppy to all our dogs but their basic diet is mainly made up of raw chicken products & vegies & boosted with pasta or dry food (advance)

  8. Karen,

dont put yourself through the torture of what if, you did what you did because that is what was done.... you cant change that sweetie & dwelling on what could have happened will only make it harder.

Saying goodbye to a much loved pet is very hard & I believe that it is harder for the pets left behind, they really dont understand.

Your family needs to comfort & grieve with each other, you & Axel need to get your grieving out, so if you want to lay in bed all day sharing timtams & crying than you do that!

We are thinking of you at this time.. I am sure buddy is now up there playing with his new friends & waiting to meet you guys again.

PS: depending on which lab it is doing the test I would as them to test for everything with the lab..

If it is Idexx make sure they also test at the same time if it is a hystacitic or lymphatic cancer if that is what they are testing for, we got with Molly where they (idexx) only did a basic hystology & didnt test for this which we then had to go back & test for these as well so we could work out which avenue we were going to follow.

  10. Our dogs & cats wont touch SD, which suits me seeing as they support the RSPCA... I wasted $70.00 when I bought the SD Cancer diet recommended by the specialist for Molly & she wouldnt touch it... she preferred her garlic & butters sauteed chicken breasts... But even the SD dry none of our animals try to even eat (even when I hide it under chicken mince & gravy!) you can put it down & when you get back all the chicken will have been carefully eaten & next to a clean bowl on the ground there will be a pile of biscuits.....

The only biscuits our dogs will eat are as follows:

    Advance

    EaglePack

    Supercoat

so i guess to them even the cheaper supercoat tastes better than SD...

Jacki, my F.I.L one nite cut a roll of that preprocessed cat food (didnt have his glasses on) and thought it was luncheon so he ate it, had gotten halfway thru before MIL saw him & told him what it was! :):laugh::eek:
