Another fan of the big dog barf here, the wellbeing and roo are great if your dog needs to shed a few kilos. I also give chicken frames, necks, beef brisket bones, salmon heads, whole fish, bone broth plus fruits and vege.

I prefer to get the wings for my lab but haven't been able to get them for a while.
-
What breed are you getting?
-
$11 a kilo wish I could find the ocean trout for that price, best I have seen is $14! I don't mind it's a treat thing, it's not every meal costing me that. I got Abbey nice decent size strips of salmon the other week, giving mostly frozen she likes those quite a bit too. Had to give the salmon heads a break as they have been a bit too big.

Think my lab is hooked on whole rainbow trout now Yonjuro :) Great sunday treat she thinks.
-
Ah obviously

Whats the OP?

That's very interesting Yonjuro, I think I will get a blood panel done on Abbey when she gets her shots in early December. I had been thinking about it but I think I definitely will now. Abbey is still having a few skin issues even on full raw so I have been wondering if she is out somewhere.

I don't think nuggets has logged back in....

Where in nsw are you located??
-
That's terrible, world so unfair to kind people.

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if any of you have any recommendations on dermatologists in NSW? And what your experiences have been.

Another fan of the EzyDog Zero Shock, fantastic for saving my arms from sudden jolt of a Labrador that has found an amazing scent and stops suddenly. Have had mine for over 2 years.

Swazzie I don't know what to say but *big massive huge hugs*

Many dogs are absolutely fine on Black Hawk (it's a pretty good food), but I do get many comments on my review from people who's dogs have reacted - http://www.petfoodre...-hawk-holistic/ (read the comments).
Interesting comments on there, my lab definitely had all these reactions as well, to this day I still have troubles with her (she only had one bag of Black Hawk) it seemed to trigger a complete over reaction of her system, itched herself silly. Personally I wish I never heard of the stuff.
-
Yes my black labradors had ear infections as well as dry lack lustre coats (dandruff & itchiness) when I fed them Black Hawk, so will never feed my Labs this food ever again.
Same here my black lab had same issue now RAW fed no more kibbles.

Glad I'm not the only one who's completely mad! I bought my dog a car today too.
Signed the papers this afternoon. At least I don't have to pack quite so strategically for trials from now on - not only does this one fit my crate inside without some tetris squishing, it will actually fit it unfolded too!
Same here signed papers last Monday.
*high fives!*
So, what cars did we all nutjobs get? I've now got a Rav4.
Diesel Ford Mondeo Wagon. So economical.
Mazda CX-5 I get it into two weeks!
For those mentioning KONG too, my online store Woof N' Wag has 25% off storewide until Tuesday night (mentioned in commercial marketplace).

Also finding that interesting and will have to try with Abbey, wonder what is in the pumpkin skin that isn't in the rest of it...

thanks Yonjuro!
I don't think I can give more or bigger bone to mine, as it will cause her constipation. one 4cm wide beef neck will give her white chalky poos for nearly 2 days, I think! at least 2x of pooping time will be hard. Accidently a couple of times I gave her bones within 2 days apart and it gave her bad constipation, to the point I heard her "crying" while pooping.
the only different is if I give her bone during day time while she is home alone, then most likely (90%) she will bury 13 of the bone on my garden and retrieve later on when I am back home. it's like she is saying..look Mum, I save the best for last..here the proof..
if I give her bone at night time while she chews it next to me...not a single piece of bone will be left!
frozen bone...oh yes I gave her too to slow her down. however, too clever! she will drag the bone from her bowl then just leave it on the floor till semi defrost. sometimes she licks it to defrost it faster...sometimes just leave there until 3/4 thawed
Yeah, it sounds like bigger bone won't help your chomping machine :D I also agree that too much bone is definitely not a good thing. Dunno much about Japanese Spitz but I know that too much bone can bind Zinc and then you can get problems with ZRD (Zinc responsive dermatosis) especially in huskies. If I am giving a meal with a high quantity of bone I make sure I increase the liver and kidney to counteract the hard chalky stools :)
I must remember to do this next time Abbey has a big bone.

Thanks Yonjuro Ill keep a look out for the rainbow trout, I'm starting to think our dogs eat better then we do :D
Ive got a couple of Salmon heads which I didn't actually realise just how big they were until I got home, way to big for Abbey to eat all at once and impossible to cut up...I'm wondering if I could do a bit of a Salmon head broth (like bone broth) any thoughts? Im thinking though it might stink up the house a bit though having fish cooking for any extended period of time.

I feed raw whole fish weekly and fish heads sometimes. I generally feed a whole Sardines daily as part of brekky unless the evening meal is fish  ... sounds like a bloody restaurant :)
The best policy is to freeze for 3 weeks prior to feeding and then you will have no worries with parasites :-)
Most of the issues with parasites are from fish in the northern hemisphere so I am not too fastidious with freeze times depending on the type of fish.
I prefer fish that are whole and make up one meal - so for my dog it is around a 300g fish.
If I ever buy a fish with a particularly spiny dorsal or other fins I just trim them off. I also generally prefer the non giant fish as there is less likelihood of mercury or other heavy metals being present in any detectable amounts.
Ronins favourite fish of the moment is Rainbow Trout Which surprisingly is not too expensive compared with most others and if you shop smart :)
Is that a whole rainbow trout? I give salmon heads too, plus sardines haven't tried her on the trout. I also freeze for a period before giving them to my lab.

My lab Abbey loves bone broth especially on a cold day I'm actually due to make some more ...
