  1. yes my contract does state that the dog is to be returned to me at any stage of the dogs life if they no longer want or can keep the dog....but in reality the contract is by no means full-proof and even though i am trying to ensure my pup's go to the right homes, obviously you cant be 100% sure...

i did ask the same Question to the cccq but they answered with advising not to co-own and didnt specifically answer could i co-own on limited. so i assumed you couldnt!

the only reason i am now asking is i have noticed a litter advertised in my breed on limited/co-own conditions.

ETA: that is a relief to know i can co-own on limited.

im finding it hard as a first time breeder working out the best way to do this so both myself and the new owners are happy.

Co-owning on Limited Register is probably the breeder's way of putting the pup out on breeder's terms and making certain you haven't purchased the pup for someone else. The breeder alone has the power to upgrade once only to the main register. To dispose of the pup, both signatures are required. If your contract states a time frame to de-sex the pup then it may be the sole owner after that event. Even if the breeder has stated that the pup comes back to her if you no longer can house or want the pup, he/she still requires YOUR signature to apply for transfer over to her.

Doglady it does not happen that way in Queensland. :)

If a dog goes into any form of partnership in this state the controlling body has their own special partnership agreement that must be completed and signed by both parties.

Is this another form i am supposed to fill in?, all i have from dogs Qld is a blue litter registration piece of paper and another form for the buyers to sign for limited reg..

  2. seabreeze oil from plush puppy is good for dandruff, but not sure about if it will make the itch better or worse...i put it on following a bath (its a spray) before the coat dry's (undiluted)

I also use alloveen shampoo on all my dogs, but none of my dogs have allergies. just find the coat condition is really good. even when i show mine i use the seabreeze oil to give the coat a nice glossy look prior to going in the ring..

  4. Can a breeder co-own the puppies if sold on limited register?

my other question with limited papers is if you sell your pup's and say in 2 yrs time those owners sell the dog to someone else, can the papers be transferred into other person/s names ? (with or without the breeders knowing?)

  5. I've always gone back to RC after trialling different brands, so have stuck with it for the last few yrs, but we dont feed dry every day, except for pup's. I have found the RC caused no upset tum's or loose stools (proplan was the worse for my dogs for this as well as hill's), I have fed my last 2 puppies (now adults) on RC and now my bitch is pregnant have been giving her RC everyday, I started off with the RC adult (med), then have Switched to RC starter reproductive from week 7...i 'by chance' found this in their range as its not readily available, it is awesome, it smells so nice (really meaty) and my bitch loves it, it is designed for the last few weeks of gestation, lactation and weening.

I did try canidae all ages and although dogs liked it i found the amount of stools to much even when only given it a few times a week...and the wind they had...omg...that was deathly lol.

  6. thanks everyone for your input :) :)

    i have staf's.

yes i am in Qld and heartworm is a problem, but our dogs are always inside after dark. our dogs have been treated with monthly sentinal for about 2 years now that covers heartworm and all worms, and flea's ,never had an issue, but obviously didnt want to give it to a pregnant bitch with all 3 ingredients in.

I have the glucose syrup and a gel that diabetics use for hypoglycemia. I also have so many other supplies (and more on their way).

our vet we are using is also a 24/hr emergency vet and they know when due date is (even tho I will call them a few days prior) and if anything appears to be going wrong I will be going up there as I dont want to muck around....I am definately hoping for a uncomplicated whelp but I want to be prepared.

as far as I know my bitch's sisters have whelped without any major problems.

  7. Thought this would be the best place to post some questions. after all the reading and advice ive been given im still a little confused...

Worming: Do you worm your pregnant bitch whilst she is pregnant (vet said no, friends have said yes) and if so what week and safest all-wormer. (bitch was given sentinel on day of mating which is why my vet said she should be ok till after whelp) (i know pups are wormed at 2,4,6,8 weeks)

And when is it safe to re-commence the sentinel after whelping for the mum?

what is the best all wormer for puppies?

calcium: other breeders reccomended to give calcium sandoz 1 day before due, then give 10mls between puppies. my vet said no....only give the calcium after all pup's are whelped?

we are on day 41 today, bitch is looking really well, eating everything, and still happy running around the garden with our other dogs (although i am very cautious with not letting her play too rough)

I know these are very basic questions, Im just a very nervous first time'r with a maiden bitch and i think i am doing too much reading!! I am also a specialist RN with a midwifery qualification (i dont practice as a midwife though anymore) so I think i am probably worse!

    thankyou

    :)

  8. I would check before using something like creatine in your dog, you say she has been diagnosed with a soft tissue injury so her exercise capacity will not be that great at the moment....from my understanding I thought creatine was used in humans and animals that were subject to intense physical activity...i would be concerned about effects on the kidneys also. i would definately check first..

  9. thanks guys, for replying.

yes i am ANKC registered breeder, very nervous about having my first liter!...will ask to join the breeders section...thanks!

i was a little unsure with the RC adult mix (maxi) as i read on one site its not suitable for pregnant/lactating bitches, but I now cant find the site i read it from. it has things like glucosamine/condroitin in thats why i thought it might be unsuitable, I have powder form Glucosamine here and it clearly says on the packaging not suitable for pregnant or lactating bitches.

yes the meat we feed is good quality mix of raw bone meal and meat....also has veges mixed in and fruits. we give the turkey or roo or a combination of turkey/chicken/fish/duck minced.

we dont give buscuits daily every 2-3 day to the adults.

  10. Im sure this has been discussed before but I am new to this site and I am wondering what people's opinion's are on best dry food to feed a pregnant bitch. I am also new to the world of breeding (even though i have been involved with pure bred dogs most of my life) I have used Royal canine for a few years on pups and adults and my dogs have always done well on it, I also try to feed about 80% raw to my adult dogs. I have been told to feed pregnant bitch's puppy food after 6 weeks....so looking for some suggestions of the most suitable thanks...

also i wont feed advance or hills or proplan...my dog/s have had bad experiences with each.
