  1. I feed our staffy (she's now 13 weeks old) 'advance puppy growth' she loves it and has been doing very well on it... Speak to the vet, just be carefull if they have nothing good to say about brands they don't sell... My vet doesn't sell Advance, when I told him that is what she's on he said great - if she gets sick of it try these 2 - which were the science diet and the eukanuba (sp?) that they sell... Apart from the advance all she's been having is Brisket bones and an egg every now and then...
  2. We have just had a 12 week vac done today, My Vet said to wait 3 or 4 days...
  3. Shite... Cayenne had the nasal spray one for KC... hopefully she pulls through the next few days ok! she's done lotsa sleeping since getting back from the vet! efs
  4. Cayenne just got her 12 week vac, the vet swears to me thats all she needs - as long as it is given at 12 weeks and not at 11 etc... he said the 12 week mark is important when doing it this way because of the mothers anti bodies.... He said not many vets in our area do the 3 step option any more...

    Bones Etc

Hi Tara, Ask a butcher for some brisket bone... these will give your border collie something much better to chew on than chicken necks... see how that goes... Our older dog has a bit of a sensitive stomach... as a rule chicken and beef are ok for her... Lamb is a no go though... Trial and error is all it takes to work out what is ok for the particular dog and what is not... Hope that helps.... EFS
  6. that went down a treat, she loved it - shell and all!
  7. Tried the search before I posted, but got nothing, I think the search must be down at the moment, searching for 'Dog' in all forums also returns nothing...
  8. Hi All, Just checking this, before I do it not after like i have done previously... For those that are un aware, I have a 12 week old staffy... I have read in numerous places that its good for their coats to feed a whole raw egg once a week - shell and everything... I am thinking of giving her one for dinner tonight, just mix it up with her dry food... Is it ok to feed the shell to a 12 week puppy... I am thinking the answer is yes, especially as she is a staffy!! but just wanted to check first... Cheers
  9. Our girl is on Advance Puppy Growth and she has gone from around 3kg to 5 kg in 2 and a half weeks, she's a staffy - 12 months old on friday... She has also had some raw Brisket bones, and little bit of raw carrot... but mainly just the dry food, and lotsa water

    Bones Etc

thats funny, the staffy cross i grew up with had a shank everyday... nowdays i enjoy them too much to give em to the dogs!! Roo, I sent you a PM... Cayenne is going great... I can't wait for her to get the whole toilet thing though, sure am sick of cleaning up wee!! it looks as though she consumed a few stones yesterday while eating her brisket so she's been a bit off colour today a couple of vomits but looks to be all good now... it'll be interesting to compare notes between brother and sister thats for sure... how is erik going with the toilet thing!!

    Bones Etc

Hey Roo, I was about to do exactly the same - ask the question after the fact! Cayenne is outside getting as much of a brisket bone as she can! (i think the butcher cut these up thinking I have a rotty or something!) she's loving it, but keeps wanting to bring it inside...
  12. Thanks for all the responses... good to hear its not an uncommon thing... There were a couple of suggestions made that I will try next time, like using a collar and leash, i took her collar off this time. Unfortunatly though our laundry tub isn't an option due to the stoopid tap it has. The non slip matt also sounds like a good idea... Tony, I'm onto the top dog thing... it would have been easy to back out of giving her the bath today and just wipe the muck off her tummy... but she got bathed, and she got rewarded at the first signs of her settling down... I can't wait to take her to the beach and let her run around, i took her last weekend but obiously she had to be carried due to not being fully vac'd... Thanks again. EFS
  13. Hi Guys, This has probably been asked before but none of my searches turned up the answer... I just gave Cayenne her first bath since we got her (Cayenne is a 10wk old staffy)... unfortunatly she really really didn't like it... I filled the bath to have about 1 inch of water in it, put her in and after about 5 seconds she was doing all should could to get out... We struggled through the bath (i would have canned it if it wasn't for the fact that she had been standing in wee and had muck on her tummy...) she didn't like any stage of the process that involved water... How can I get her used to getting wet...? eventually I had visions of taking her to beaches and throwing sticks in the drink for her etc etc... this wasn't a good start to water for her... interestingly she did walk in the shower one day which was still wet after being used and didn't mind it one bit... Any help, suggestions and guidence welcome! Thank you...
