  1. Hugs to you Peace_Of_Mind and good on you for trying to help this cat. Thanks k9angel for the hugs...I certainly needed some hugs today. From the minute I got up this morning the day was just a bummer...hopefully my day tomorrow will be more relaxing and no stress.
  2. I tried my best Erny, she was a total cow. I was gonna tell her that when I rang on the weekend and spoke to another chap (nice chap) he was going to bring out a trap, but she had locked them up...go figure. I didn't want to say anything to her about this conversation I had because it might get him into trouble. Anyway he was willing to come out and give us a trap and it it went missing he would fit the bill....now he was a nice guy but he was not in today as he has worked the weekend....I think if he was in he would have still snuck one out for me. Oh and whilst I was on the phone I was advised that the City of Boroondara had no curfew for cats which I thought we did have and I said, well alot of municipalities have so what are waiting for?
  3. Thanks Maverick for the information. I will make a note of it should i require it in the future. My neighbour's son is going to go and get a trap tomorrow from the City of Boroondara and pay for it. Thank you again :)
  4. Oh it has been so frustrating...when I finish work I think I will go and have a good cry. I will check out the website you suggested as well. Thanks so much.
  5. Thank you for your reply and advice. I will try a local vet and see how I go. Thanks
  6. Hi there, I am not sure if I am posting in the right place but I have situation where I am hoping I can get some advice. I live in a block of units of 8 and one of my neighbours loves cats and dogs (as do I). In the past few weeks or so a ginger cat has been appearing on her balcony and she has started feeding it (wrong I know). It comes every night, never comes in the day time as it waits till it is dark. I spotted it myself one night but I didn't approach it. Anyway my neighbour is elderly and her english is not that great but she has told me that the cat has a injured leg, so much so that it leaves blood on her balcony. She would like to take it to the vet but the cat doesn't like being picked up. I asked her if it has a collar and she said NO, so we tend to believe it is a stray. As of Saturday I have rung my Council, City of Boroondara (Victoria) who are absolutely hopeless. They referred me to the RSPCA and they referred me back to the City of Boroondara. I also rang the Animal Emergency Centre which they also referred me to the RSPCA. Anyway bottom line is no one wants to help. I asked the City of Boroondara to bring a trap so as we can catch the cat, but they want the elderly lady to fork out $46 fee. This woman is on a pension and cannot afford it. I would love to help but this weekend alone I spent close to $100 on another charitable event. I thought the RSPCA to some extent would help capture an injured animal if only they left us a trap - I was told they only do that for the City of Monash. WTF.... I tried to ring the Cat Protection Society today but unfortunately just missed them. Can anyone suggest what I should do now???? I have been in tears for part of the day because of all the ringing around and getting nowhere and getting one thing said by one person and another thing another person....it is just driving me nuts.
  7. What a terrible thing to happen. I also hope it was quick and they did not suffer
  8. Ditto - just reading your post scared me. Have you reported it to the police?
  9. I am so sorry for your loss RIP Mitzi
  10. Sorry for your loss – you had 21 plus years with her and what a wonderful life she must have had being loved by you. May she RIP
  11. My next door has a little dog that constantly barks. As we have known each other for years, I feel comfotable enough to just tell her that her dog is barking and annoying the crap out of me. She apologises etc., and a few weeks later it starts again. Recently her dog was barking two nights in a row between 8 - 9 pm so I just texted her and said "We are sick of your dog barking (meaning I was speaking on behalf of other neighbours) please take her inside. Well I haven't heard her dog bark since. I used to also just yell over the fence to the dog, use it name and stay STOP IT (dog's name), damn thing would stop for a while and then start. However, the dog she had before used to listen to me, was a very obedient dog and the one time it was was barking out of control I knew something must have been wrong, so I rang her on her mobile and she wasn't near home at all, so she sent her sister around to see what was going on. I know she tries her best to stop her dog from barking, but what annoys me if the dog is barking in the middle of the night she is bloody louder than the dog and I hold myself back from yelling at her and staying SHUT THE f*** UP.
  12. Oh how terrible for those poor dogs to die such a painful death. I hope with the $10,000 reward some greedy bastard who knows who did it will come forth and I hope the bastards just rot in freaking hell. These kind of stories make me so mad
  13. Great idea - I would be installing a camera to catch the bastards
  14. Yeah I tend to agree, a big stick might fend of some of these dogs. Sorry to hear this happened to you.
  15. I saw this on the news tonight - oh what a horrible thing to do. They haven't found the swan, they presume it must have drowned, poor thing. I would love to get my hands on that sick excuse for a human being and wring his freaking neck and see how he likes it It was reported that there were quite a few people that witnessed this and took photos so the police are hoping that they some people will help police catch this psycho bastard.
  16. What a great dog :) Thanks for posting this story :)
  17. Hi dog-owner, I hear you – you have been subjected to some criticism on this forum for something that was completely out of your control. Take a break from reading posts; grieve for your dogs and take care of yourself. I am sorry for everything you are going through. p.s. don’t feel guilty about anything.
  18. Always good to read a 'good news story'... What a gorgeous dog she is :)
  19. Sorry I dont need a reality check I live on the land and have done most of my life.No its not ok for dogs to roam at large constantly but if old mate had of taken the time to find out he would of seen it for what it was an accident. We are not talking about marauding pitbulls we are talking about a couple of terriers. It was not a prize bull it was a couple of chickens and the article does not even say if they were killed so most likely not.Does that warrant their death to you?I am not a do gooder or a city slicker but I am an animal lover.I dont have any chooks because a few years ago I lost 32 in about 6 months.Mostly to foxes but also had seen the neighbours dog on my property and expect he had his fill as well but as I never saw him I cant say for certain but should I have shot him anyway. He was on my land afterall. What ever happened to giving people the benefit of the doubt. We are not talking about dogs attacking and maiming large amounts of sheep, cattle or other livestock that is a different story and yes they should get shot and we have shot dogs for this,no problem. If it was a dog you have never seen before and it was hunting livestock and not caused any damage I would return it to owner or find them and tell them what happens to dogs that do that. Then they cant say they werent warned.Everybody makes mistakes and not all farmers are on massive pastoral leases with feral dogs killing large amounts of stock,a couple of chickens isnt going to see him bankrupt. Its not just the killing of the dogs its waht he did afterwards that annoys me and that is indefensible. If he treated my dogs with such disrespect his would disappear also.Shooting them I could accept but not treating them in that way.Plenty of farmers will see it the same way as animals are nothing more than livestock to them and a means to an end but it doesnt mean you have to be a heartless c**t your whole life.I have a dog here I have had for a month she was going to get a bullet for killing sheep so I took her.She is a lovely dog and it is as much the owners fault for allowing her to be put in that situation and I dont think it warrants her life for it but hey thats just me and yes I live on the land too. Great post bulldogz4eva - totally agree with what you said I was just speaking to a colleague about this thread and she said the same thing "what about giving people the benefit of doubt". Some are ready to hang the landlord, the dog-owner. Things happen in life that sometimes are out of our control. The dog-owner seems to be a responsible person, it is not her fault the landlord did not close the gate properly; the landlord should not also be hung out to dry for a mistake, and the dogs were little terriers out of their depth not knowing where they were and for that farmer shoot them the way he did...well I can't really say what I would like to do to him on the forum.
  20. Crisovar, I agree. All life is precious whether chooks, dogs, or livestock of any kind. It makes me dismayed to read answers here that trivilialse the death of the chooks who probably died a horrible death. All animals deserve respect. I am not triviliasing the point of the death of the chooks, but forum members seem to think a gun is the answer to about anything here..."lets shoot the landlord" etc etc. From what I read the dogs were always secured in their own backyard and the one time that the landlord did the wrong thing, the landlord gets the blame (don't you think he feels bad for his actions?), the dog-owner has been dished out crap from others as well. It seems easy for some of you to get out your gun and solve the problem - SHOOT TO KILL...way to go......
  21. Wow sounds like "lets all get our guns out and start shooting" WTF. Like someone said "whats a few chooks" may they RIP. To me it sounds like this is the first time these dogs got out and like the dog-owner said she could not comment on the note he left which sounds like he wrote some pretty nasty things....hey anyone think of shooting him? Lets shoot the landlord, the dogs have already been shot....plenty of blame to go around. I tell you if anyone tried to shoot any of my animals god help them, I wouldn't get a gun to shoot, I have my own brand of punishment. Sound harsh, well don't give a rats arse what people think, but I think the dog-owner is getting a pretty raw deal here and the majority members popping up like Americans who shoot first and then think. God help us
