  1. Jess is gorgeous Tay! :)

Love your bird shots Canetoad, especially the Eagle!

Love the bee shots too Grumpette!

After spending all day pondering what on earth my photo for this week could be... in the afternoon I ended up just grabbing my camera and heading outside to see if anything captures my attention...

Well half way over to the old milking shed (now converted into a shed for my parents metal recycling business) it starts bucketing down rain (I did not see this coming at all, lol)....

Its not quite as sharp as I'd like, but still :)

Also, had to share this.... I bought Lightroom this last week and have been testing it out by re-editing some of my older photos... I loved the way this one came out. Took this about 6 months ago at Uluru... I believe he's a Dingo mix

  2. Loving seeing everyone's photos! :D

My little rescue cat, Bubbles :) She is the sweetest thing, loves cuddles and has an incredibly loud purr! She's a different cat to what she used to be, she'd been stuck in a cage waiting for a home for 3 months and she was terrified of humans when we first got her... took us ages to even be able to pat her. Her tail is completely paralysed too, she has no movement in her tail at all!

  3. Yes, he is a standard MDD :)

My stripping wouldn't be up to show criteria, but it keeps him reasonably tidy. My OH gets jealous because he reckons I spend more time grooming and feeding my dogs than I do on his meals! I have two toy poodles which I do clip as well ;)

You make me jealous! I desperately want to own my own dog that i can clip and style... but alas I'm not quite ready for another dog yet.... But when the time comes, I'll be getting a Standard Poodle :D

  4. Archie is gorgeous! Do you clip him yourself? :)

I notice he doesn't have a full Schnauzer beard.... not a fan of wet slobbery beard after he's been drinking ay? :p

LOL! No, I don't leave the full beard for that very reason! Also, grass seeds and horse poo feature in his beard from time to time :o

I 'strip' his coat (and I use the term strip very loosely) because I love the wiry coat :)

    Great outlook trifecta!

Oh nice! I don't meet many pet owners who can be bothered stripping their dog's coat. All of my clients have their Schnauzers clipped, so that is actually what i'm more used to seeing, haha :p

Your boy is gorgeous! He's a standard yeah? I've never met a standard one.

  5. So many fantastic photos coming in!! Too many to comment on individually, but they are all brilliant :D

I found it hard to chose 1 photo this week, so you get two :p They are close ups of my favourite old Australorp hen's feathers.

  6. Are they Striped Marsh frogs SheWolf? Gotta love frogs! :D

I believe they are Ranga. Although I haven't seen them this vibrant before, they looked kind of 'rusty or orange looking'.

I found a frog in my chook yard last year who was a distinct red (more vibrant than these two) colour with black stripes. I did heaps of research and the closest species I could find was the striped marsh frog... but the red colour still didn't match... Still not sure exactly what he was.

  7. Not a particularly nice photo from me this week :o

Here's Koda testing out my new grooming table, I spent last year testing the waters with my grooming business, and it seems to be going well, so I'm starting this year off with a newly renovated grooming room. Just about finished it now, just need to finish a few things off and move all my stuff in. So excited to start working in there :D

  8. I just need to work out what is better for capturing sharp moving photos, one focal point or a few focal points.

I tend to not really think about focal points... I probably should though, haha

I'm no expert, and you probably already know this stuff, but still...

For sharp moving photos you need a really fast shutter speed. If i'm aiming for frozen movement, I'll usually go as fast as I can go dependant on the lighting conditions.

If you can predict where your subject is going, its also a good idea to focus on one area, before your subject gets there, then snap the shot as they zoom through :D

I usually just take loads of shots and hope for the best, lol!

I do tend to take way too many photos :o

Gorgeous pic by the way, love the crazy faces they pull when they're playing

  9. It was Nekhbet that I took Koda to as well! The Malinois dogs are gorgeous! We eventually had him off leash with two of them (Trigger and a female who's name I don't remember, don't think it was Rouge), he wasn't really interacting with them, simply hanging around mostly peacefully haha :p He still had his moments, but he did incredibly well considering what he's normally like :)

  10. Its been ages since I've posted in here...

Saw a new behaviourist with Koda a couple of weeks ago... best thing I ever did for him!

He's already responding really well to the training, we're definitely on a road to success with his dog reactivity :) We still have slip ups (mostly my fault, I'm still getting the hang of the new training) but we are doing really well in general. Koda loves it too, and seems less anxious in general.

He used to be on Supercoat food, I've now swapped him onto Blackhawk, I've been wondering whether that may have also impacted his behaviour at all... perhaps just taken the edge off his anxiety/over excitement.

  11. Oh my goodness, I love alpacas!!

Love the names too! I particularly like Hermione... that is one of my all time favourite names, I'm not normally one to pick names for animals before I get them... but I reckon my next dog will be a Hermione :D
