  1. Loving all the piccys everyone, super cute.

Steph M where did you get the pompom neck things for Gus and Rosie? I reckon they might actually stay on my guys for more than half a second!

Gertrude I was just looking at a City Farmers catalogue and they have those exact same pom pom collars on sale at present. They are called Spectrum Christmas Collars and are on sale from $6.39 each (20% off and I'm assuming they come in different sizes).

    oooh thank you!

Hopefully I will be adding some pics to this thread in the not too distant future! :D

  2. Hope someone can use this rental. When I had a rental property I told the real estate I would only take someone with dogs. She said I couldn't do that as it was discriminatory. So I said, ok give me a list of applicants and I will decide. With 7 tenants the only one who ever did damage was a couple. All others with dogs and kids looked after the house.

Good on you. I plan to do the same if I ever rent a property out.

  3. I'm moving to Melbourne, from Sydney, within the next month as I have accepted a job there. I don't know anyone in Melbourne so I need recommendations for just about everything! But I'll start with dog related stuffs :)

The job is in Fairfield and I'm looking at the Heidelberg to Viewbank area for a rental preferably but we may have to go elsewhere if we can't find anything in time.

    So I'm after recommendations for;

Training club - I don't want to trial but just to teach my dogs ongoing obedience

    Vet

Behaviorist - for one on one problem solving type training

    Boarding Kennel

Great walking/biking tracks that allow dogs

Good butcher as they are fed raw

    Dog friendly cafes

My dogs are two sibes, they are both current with C5's but I plan to titre test from now on so a club and kennel that accepted titre testing would be advantageous (and also a vet that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for titre!).

I'm willing to travel for the right place. Obviously though it would be good to have a vet close for emergencies and if training was after work on a weeknight it couldn't be too far away.

Also if anyone knows any pet friendly places not too far from Heidelberg that are coming on the market please let me know!

Hankdog awesome pond and waterfall, looks like Jake loves it, and I can see why.

Great smiley shot of Clay, black and white really suits him too, and I like the background effect.

Poor scraggly Harvey  no doubt he had a lot of fun though. The rare bearded spaniel  nice goatee Harvey!

Will miss your gang in here tlc :(

  5. I wasn't allowed a dog as a kid as my father hates them. The first dog I had was a guide dog puppy lab so we only had her for a year, then a few years later a second guide dog lab puppy.

When the second one left I knew that I wanted a dog of my own but I also knew I didn't want a lab. I loved by the pups I had but they definitely weren't the breed I wanted to own myself.

I have two Sibes now and I love the breed.

But I wouldn't say I am breed loyal, more Spitz breed loyal. At some point I will have a Finnish Lapphund I am sure. I would also like a Shiba and an Akita at some point. The more Spitz breeds I meet the more I add to the list. I am a big dog person though, so a Shiba would be the smallest I would go. I don't think I will ever be without a spitz of some kind.

There are some other breeds I love like Airedales, Boxers, Weimaraners and Danes but not sure if I will ever own one.

  6. So sorry to hear you have had to make this heartbreaking decision, Roo was so very lucky to have you as her owner. I too was a silent follower or Roo's story and you did everything for her that you could.

  7. Gertrude you must have some wonderful memories with all the rescues you have fostered, its takes allot of heart to do what you do and I'm sure the dogs that go through yours hands move on to wonderful homes and have a great life

These were my first fosters  waaaahhhhhh  hopefully it gets easier?

There's usually a bit of water works from me whenever I drop one of the kennel bears at the airport, and sometimes when others are picked up from the kennels but it didn't prepare me for saying bye to my fosters. I know they are going to a home better than what I can give them long term so I just have to keep remembering that.
