Ours sleep in locked crates every night and are 7 and 9 years old.

If they're not locked in we can experience one or more of the following.

- play time at wee hours

- Collie barking at noises from neighbours or possums

- Sarah growling at Collie because he's giving her a midnight bath

crated dogs are quiet dogs :p

lol, bit of fun and clearly one person's opinion vs the overall popularity of a breed

I can't say I rate my cockers problem solving abilities particularly high although apparently he's ranks in the top 50% of breed intelligence, Wooo Collie! :p

Hopefully a little money will come your way with our upcoming day at the shop. We'll be donating a raffle for you to see tickets for if that helps? Should have lots of customers to buy sausages etc and hopefully some wonderful new homes.

Sarah turned 9 last week and her 2nd Gotcha Day is coming up next month.

Playtime has recently become a daily activity in this house and you'd be forgiven for thinking it's not been this way the whole time, she's become quite good at playing land shark :)

My newest family member, Kito! I've been missing having a big boy ferret around after I lost Fred, so I took my two girl ferrets up to the local ferret rescue to see who's available. Well I completely fell in love with this little guy! He's only 4 and a half months old, he was born in foster care after his mum was handed in pregnant. He's just the most gorgeous little guy, so full of energy, incredibly playful but also, oh so sweet! He looves people, follows me around beggig for attention

He's big too, already much bigger than my two girls, so he's gonna be huge when fully grown! :)

I wish the focus in this photo was more on his eyes, but this will do, he's so fast its hard to get the focus right!

I have the laser Rx with the digital display.

It's right next to the grooming table so I don't have a problem with the buttons and I love being able to adjust the air pressure and temperature based on comfort level of the dog and outside temp.

I've seen some round fold up dog camp beds floating around pet stores recently, of course I can't for the life of me find them on the internet now :p

They'd be big enough for Ronin and keep him off the ground.

We stick with the el'cheapo kmart pet beds for camping but ours weigh about 25kgs combined and we usually wait for the good weather to go camping. :)

Most shorthaired dogs in the gun dog group would fit that description and they make good companions.

Thanks Mita :) Mrs Rainy Day has been in the rescue game for a very long time but it's often been behind the scenes and assisting other rescues, but Rainy Day itself is relatively new

I came on board last year to help with some grooming and then as the adoptions co-ordinator as Sophie's energies are mostly spent getting the dogs in and getting them the help they need.

I'm not sure if this is against the rules, I couldn't see anything specific so I thought I'd give this a try (feel free to remove if it is)

Rainy Day Rescue have taken in 9 Shar Pei and Pei crosses since just before Christmas.

This has equated to lots of money spent on transportation (as most of have been from NSW & QLD and we're in VIC), desexing, fighting infections and skins issues and most importantly entropion surgeries.

We're a small special needs rescue and I'm sure many of you can understand that that means a lot more outgoing $ than incoming.

We're working on organising a few fundraising activities and adoption days but of course that takes time.

If anyone could help out in the mean time with a few dollars that would be really appreciated. Sophie (Mrs Rainy Day) is stretched physically, financially and emotionally, yet I've never seen her say no to a dog that has no other option.

Here's collie as an 8 weeks old puppy and wayyyyyy before I met him

I got told about National Puppy day by an America colleague today and he said it was to raise awareness about adoption.

that didn't really make sense to me so I looked into it a bit further an looks like it's raising awareness about puppy farms and not buying puppies from pet stores.

So in light of that here's a pic of Sarah on the day we got her, she's thoroughly enjoying her retirement from the puppy farm.

If you want to keep her I'd forgo the formalities, after all she's not microchipped and it's sounds like she's clearly been dumped

If you want to re-home her it's probably best to follow the law to the letter in order to protect her future owner should any issues arise

If you're in a LDH area you will need to formally adopt before re-homing as I'm sure you know they won't work with rescue.

Feel free to PM me once you're ready to re-home, I'm currently working on organising some adoption days at Petstock stores in Melbourne with a few rescues and kittens and cats seems to do quite well in that adoption environment

sorry no, the dog is friendly :p but the cottage itself is not fenced in so they don't want to risk having non farm savy dogs around

Denmark is my favourite place on earth. We were there the week after you :). We got married down there too & are always interested in new places to stay.

Also my brother is getting married on the farm at the end of October, should be nice and green by then.

Here's our older lady pei Cho Cho (12 years old), she was surrendered to Blacktown back in early Dec and taken in by Rainy Day Rescue. It was assumed she would join the other sanctuary dogs and stay with RDR permanently but turns out she's as fit as a fiddle and has little patience for some of the younger fosters so we think she's be better off with a family of her own.

My parents have told a particular story a couple of times about when they separated Clyde from the rest of the herd a few years ago after a few calves were afoot. One cow was looking particularly distressed in the new paddock and they didn't realise why until they noticed a little calf between Clyde's back legs attempting to get a feed :laugh:

And it's good to be down on the farm, fresh air, slow living and quad bikes. I just wish it wasn't so far away from Melbourne

Btw if anyone is thinking of a holiday in Denmark they have a cottage set-up for accommodation

So me and hubby are at my parents farm on the south coast of WA this week and it's safe to say the hubby is the photographer in this family.

I know it differs from state to state but in VIC being a not for profit org and having Charity status are very different. It's very easy to get charity status but very hard to keep it due to the auditing and not for profit orgs without charity status are quite limited with regards to fund raising. It's possible this organisation are taking advantage of a new charity status (although with 6 or less animals in their care it would hardly be worth it) which would explain the change in their posts.

But there does appear to be some red flags with blocking you and charging a premium for puppies (some do it to take advantage of the cute factor, including the RSPCA). At the end of the day if a rescue is taking donations they should be open about where your money is going
