  1. Good idea, well move it in tonight. unfortunately wearing hime out doesn't seem to work, he gets a walk and a run through all his tricks an then about half an hour to chill before he foes to bed. but even if he is dozing on the floor he will wake right up and start fighting as soon as we put him to bed.
  2. hello again guys and girls. We really thought we had dealt with the night crying issue but it appears its made a dramatic reappearance. over the last 2 nights hes gone back to ]crying barking and throwing himself against the door of his room, we keep him in the spare bathroom now as he injured himself doing this in his crate. tbh im a bit stuck as he seemed to be fine for a week with no problems but now seems to be as bad as ever. The only thing that has changed is that he now spends more time during the day with us. i managed to calm him down last night by sitting outside the door and giving him a spray with water whenever he got hysterical witch seemed to work but i don't think its a good idea to associate his space with negative consequences...although he sees bed time as toture at any rate. any idea on how to sort this? we usually let him ware himself out but when he gets all worked up he is reallt bad for causing him self some damage.
  3. im half tempted to put a drop of it myself, found another crawling up my leg and the mrs had one too add to the count. but alfie doesnt seem to have picked any up so hopefully the stuff is working.
  4. i picked up some drops for now, a months worth and then depending on how much he is in and out of the water i may look at a 3month collar. i'll look into the avantix, 7 weeks seems pretty good.
  5. whats the easiest and safest way for tick prevention for puppies? it looks like its a toss up between the frontline style spot treatments or a flea and tick collar. our dogs grown about 2 kilos in two weeks so i'm wondering if a tick collar would be a good idea as he may out grow it pretty sharp. but on the other hand he is in and out of the water a lot now so will the spot on style drops wash away? I found an empty tick crawling on his fur this morning and one stuck in my leg so i'm looking to get him protected asap.
  6. looks like we may have cracked the lead. just took him out to the lake with a pocket full of meat treats and he did great, so impressed with the little guy.
  7. we've been using cardboard boxes as well and hes over the moon with them, wont spent any time with his long but a cardboard box entertains him for hours. hasn't swallowed any as far as we know and doesn't look to have any interest in doing some, give it a go and see how it goes down.
  8. i guess i was kinda expecting him to have all worked out by instinct . we are making some progress, he has started moving around with the lead on when hes playing with a bone or is hungry for his dinner and if theres something interesting happening. thought i might as well post a few more pictures as well :)
  9. thanks for the help, i suppose its just about taking it a little slower and giving him the chance to get used to it a little slower then we had expected.
  10. He just freezes up and wont move on most occasions, we have tried putting it on when we feed him but he just lies down and stays still until its taken off again, we tried using a ribbon witch had some success but he doesn't want to seem to follow us yet.
  11. Hi, i'm new to the forum. we adopted our dog just over a week ago, a 3 month old Kelpie cross, he's great and learning pretty fast but he isn't all that confident yet. He is terrified of walking on the lead, isn't all the happy to play with more the one of us at a time. He is however great with other dogs and doesn't have any problem with visitors so long as they come to him. are there any little games or techniques we could use to help build his confidence and make him a bit happier leaving the house?
