  2. Persephone - here is a link to it http://www.dogonit.com.au/
  3. I was considering using Fiona from Dog on it but I first thought I would check for any other recommendations
  4. Around the city area - hunters hill, lane cove, chatswood, greenwich that sort of area
  5. Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations for a one on one dog trainer in Sydney. We are looking to ask them for tips on how to stop our dog scratching at the door to come in, jumping on visitors and barking. Please let me know of any trainers who you have had a good experience of or know others who would recommend them. Thanks, Caitlin
  6. Hi, I have really tried to be persistent in correcting some of my dog's behaviours but am really having trouble. Especially with the barking at random noises outside, scratching at the door to come in and jumping on people and visitors. Do you think a one on one dog trainer would be able to help me learn to solve these issues as they are starting to get really annoying especially the barking and scratching at the door and I can't seem to help it. Would it be worth it or will they not be able to help me correct the issues. Thanks, Caitlin
  7. Thanks KobiD we will definitely try and reward him for good behaviour more such as lying on his bed instead of our couch.
  8. OK, Should we punish him for jumping on the couch, e,g putting him outside or in his crate. Or would it be better to pick him up and place him on his mat or bed, so he understands where he is meant to be.
  9. Thanks for the idea DogsAndTheMOb unfortunately our couch is too big to put plastic boxes all over it. KobiD, He does know the que 'off' but we don't really want him on the couch in the first place. We will definitely start rewarding him for desired behaviors and see if that works.
  10. Hi Roova, Thanks for the reply. Our puppy only has access to one room in the house, which is the living room. This is where we spend most of our time so it works out well as there is generally always someone in that rooom. He does have a mat and a bed he just seems to go on the couch and lie down. Next time we are on the couch I will try and bring his bed over and reward him for lying in it.
  11. Hi, We would really prefer that are 6 month old puppy wasn't allowed on our couch. Since we got him he always used to put his paws on the edge of the couch if we were sitting on it, because he was too small to actually jump onto the couch. I think he has always known he wasn't allowed on the couch and he would only ever try and jump onto the couch if we were sitting on it. But over the past few days I have been in the kitchen or sitting at my desk and turned around to find him lying down on the couch. He is now doing when we aren't even on the couch. We have been teaching him what is wrong and right and he seems to have gotten the hang of everything else but this. Everytime he jumps on the couch I pick him up and put him outside. But nothing seems to be working and it is getting really annoying. Any tips?
  12. Hi, Our pup was desexed on Tuesday morning and he hasn't pooped since. Is this something we should be concerned about and should I call the vet? Could he have a blocked bowel? Thanks Caitlin
  13. He is fully house trained and hasn't had any accidents in about 3 months. But he is still occasionally doing some things which we are teaching him not to do. Although I must say he is definitely getting better and I am noticing an improvement by teaching him what is wrong and right. When the next time comes, I may look into a house sitter or if there is boarding kennel which is highly recommended, I may look into that.
  14. Thank you Simply Grand we will definitely get him back into his regular routine. And he actually has an appointment with the vet for his regular checkups this week, so I will get her to checkout his eyes.
  15. Hi, Yesterday we picked up our nearly 6-month-old puppy from dog boarding, he only stayed for one night but has come home seeming very unsettled. As soon as he walked in the door he drank nearly all his water bowl which I have never seen him. This has made me quite concerned that he hasn't had much to drink or eat because of a new environment. I have noticed when we go on walks he never drinks from public water bowls. He also seems really tired and unsettled. I also noticed when we picked him up he had very water eyes and some sleep coming out of his eyes. His eyes where also a bit red. Could this possibily be conjuncitivtis? Would you recommend next time that we send him someone elses house so he gets more attention as I know he is a dog which much prefers the company of people and can be timid around other dogs. Thanks.
  16. Scottsmum and Simply Grand what is 'Nothing in life is free"?
  17. Scottsmum- I can't see, to find their website, but thanks for the recommendation. Tdirerikx- I had a look at your website and was just wondering what is the price for you to pick up/drop off dogs from home, we live in Sydney. Dame Dannys Darling- Unfortunately my vet doesnt offer boarding.
  18. Yes, this is my first puppy and I will definitely look into obedience club. Thanks for the links Persephone very useful.
  19. Hi, our 5 month old poodle cross has just began taking things off of our desk, dinner table and basically anything he can reach. Any tips?
  20. Hi, We are going up to Canberra for one night in a few weeks and was wondering whether anyone could highly recommend a dog boarding facility which is either in the city area of Sydney or on the way to Canberra. Preferably not too expensive. We would love to bring him up with us but since he is still a puppy and doesn't like being on his own too much we think at this stage being in a boarding facility for the night is the best option. Any recommendations are much appreciated.
  21. My poodle cross is beginning to get quite cheeky and starting to become a bit naughty. He has began chewing the books on the book shelf a lot more, even though he knows it is wrong and also being a bit aggressive e.g bitting our hands and clothes more. Is this just apart of him being a 5 month old pup?
  22. Simply grand, but we recently got a letter in the mail saying"Fudge is due for desexing" so I assumed if we moved vets without saying anything they may call us to arrange an appointment. I guess we will move vets and wait and see if they contact us
  23. Ok thanks, do you think the vet would ever call to check why we have not booked his desexing surgery?
  24. Thanks for the reply Simply Grand, we haven't had any pets before this and our current pup has only been there twice.
  25. Hi everyone, My 5 month old poodle cross is going to be desexed very soon and I think it would be best we move vets for many reasons, 1) The current vet is much more expensive than the vet we are considering moving too 2) our pup has a much better connection with the other vet (as she was his puppy trainer) and he growls at our current vet We don't just want to leave our current vet without an explanation, calling her could make it quite awkward and I don't feel comfortable telling her it is too expensive and that our pup likes another vet better. What and how should we tell her we want to move on. Is an email a suitabale form of response? Or will they then call us and start questioning us on why we are leaving? Any tips on what we could say to her? thanks so much all tips much appreciated!
