  1. Ask before and I'd just call my property manager. They know you have one dog and if you have a good rental history you have a shot at getting another.

NEVER rely on a call EMAIL!!! you need a paper trail cos REs are sucky with communication and we're onto property manager #6 and seriously they have no idea r house history let alone our relationship with the owners... like recently this year owners have requested once a year inspection manager agreed it wasn't recorded, 3 mths later get my inspection notice from a new prperty manager so it was a week of the owners writing back and forward explaining and even after all that I had the manager RING me to try to get in earlier... luckily I was able to say to them go look at the property notes. ..

  2. Esky I'd write first lol we didn't we just hid the extras lol ;) noy recommended but then again we're some of the best tenants previous owners had and when the house went up for sale we had the Estate agent introducing the owners to the dogs lmao because they loved the dogs!

If you're really wanting to have that extra dog and can afford it offer the owners extra say $20 a week or something to cover any damages (not that there will be) that new puppy might cause...

Dunno if its in your contact but ours states pest spray and carpet clean even though dogs are outside (they're not now but owners know this and gave permission) if its not offer that before you leave.... basically you need to make iy seem like keeping you on as a tenant is an asset to them as you could always just leave and find someone who will let you have the extra dog once your lease is up

  3. They grow at different rates too like at 6 weeks twist our Lowchen weighed almost 3kg her sister only weighs like 4 kg now but twist had alot more bone then her siblings and was always a chunky pup... she'd easily outweigh the boy who's being shown on bone mass alone...

It comes down to so many things, muscle, bone anything like those other pups may not have as good of conditioning as yours.. if your vets happy and your happy I wouldn't stress it.

  4. Yep Senjis may not bark but they'll yodel and make all sorts of great noises :) afghans geeze where to start, there's a reason I keep mine short I grew her out once with minimal success as it was taking me 4-6 hrs to de knot her lol! Oh and the washing and drying suck ;)

  5. We did ours online but had that issue with the name game luckily we came up with 4 approved names... only other issue was our boy who was the sire is Co owned by both myself and OH where as the prefix is only in his name. They were nice enough to send an email to us with a stud cert form we filled it out and scanned it back no issues :)

Oh and we had it all processed and done about 3 days before xnsdt shut down

  6. Keith Phillips at Wyong is reasonable :) I was taking my BC there and we still take dogs there for normal vet treatment. He also does laser acupuncture. Coast and Valley Vet hospital, Alison Rd Wyong... give them a call its pretty much a consultant fee for chiropractic work justmake sure yyou let them know its for Keith I know theres another vet there but Dunno if she does chiropractic work.

  7. Inside is your best option.. we've taken that approach as 2 of our dogs can be bad barkers when we're not there and what I've gathered from council is the neighbors cannot do eff all as its within our house not outside and we are making an effort to control our situation. One dog is possibly going off for De barking for everyone's sanity and we're installing a ping string to deter the other who gets a rise out of stirring the other neighbors dogs...

Its a tough road but once I worked out that no stimulus = no noise or minimal in Leo's case as he can whinge out of stress but sadly I cannot fix the damage that's been done with him prior to being here.. I've set up sections of the house for each dog so that they have somewhere comfy and safe to be and they're happy....

Good luck and I hope you get some resolve

  8. Keith Phillips at Coast and Valley vet at wyong is good he used to taket care of my border collie.. from memory most I paid was $60 which was a general consult (cos hes a vet) and chiropractic work and some lazer acupuncture..

They're on Alison rd, really lovely vet :)

  9. the kennels I work at shut at 6pm to the public but doesn't mean everyone has gone. in busy times the owners will be down in the kennels until 7-8pm and then arw normally opened up by about 7am they live on the property about 800m away if that and have CCTV and everything is locked up.. during the day after the kids have had their morning sessions which finish at 11ish we lock up the gates but everyone is in their day yards/runs with the exception of escapees and barkers who remain on lock down LOL (they're all just a inside) until about 2-3ish but the owners are usually around the property doing jobs and having their own life too.. its just the wayof iinsuring we don't have people constantly in and out so staff can get things like shopping and mowing done without having disruptions. but 9/10 after a run and breakfast everyone curls up on beds for a day of sleeping

  10. lowchen which are a companion guard dog are highly trainable my little girl Ella is a nutt for a tug and toy and food and will work... its not the same style of work as say a border collie but when your only 5 kg she's got alot to offer and if I put in more effort I'd have an amazing trialing dog..

  11. we looked into sending one of our pups over.. Jetpets was most helpful during our search for the correct info and will help make sure each party has the correct paperwork prior to the dogs being sent as the receiver needs an import license according to the people who we were sending to

  12. have a look around Greenbank, Browns plains, creastmead, jimboomba yes they're a little far south but its more rural and you'll probably find more pet friendly places.

I lived in Jimboomba and traveled to Brisbane for work everyday it wasnt that bad, jimboomba to underwood was about a 30 min drive or so.

as for rego CCCQ or dogs Qld as they're called make everyone renew on the 31st Dec regardless of joining.. as for Hudson his number stays the same, I'm not sure if you need to physically transfer him over though I never did with my Sheltie but I think because the names matched up it was all good. just get Dogs NSW to put a note on file of change of address.

tick collars yes! and be prepared for a shock to the climate, I was stoked to get back tp nsw and the climate I was used to.

as for clubs Yes Jimboomba is brilliant as is BAD and QAJDC. I prefer Jimboomba though smaller classes, but every club up there has instructors who have different merits and forms of teaching.

Good luck and Have FUN!! inbox me if you have any questions, I actually do miss qld alot and would go back in a heartbeat..

  13. We've got 5 here on occasion 6 when we have visitors, 4 of the dogs are great little house dogs and just are nice to be around and are cruisy as can be lol but you add the other terror in and somedays are good some are crap... but I do love them all and enjoy having them around :)

it depends on how well they gel anyoner like I said yesterday the nutter was ay work with OH and I had everyone cruising the house and yard, one resided on the couch or near to me in whatever room the other 3 were outside playing and sun baking. just peace I didn't find myself yelling or having to crate or chase anyon

  14. Like i said, i'm not taking this decision lightly. With the hour exercise, i can do more but that would be a realistic estimate during weekdays. Weekends, im happy to spend thing hanging out with my dog going for obedience classes, etc.

So the general census seems to be :-

    (1) very laid back dog (yay for laid back lappies, or is Kivi the only laid back lappie?)

    (2) an adult dog (could a samoyed/keeshond/lappie/ dachshund still suit here?)

    (3) a westie/ shiba inu / lowchen

Thanks for the feedback on whippets. Like i said, i have not had any experience with the breed and it was helpful to know that they are acrobats.

Please keep referring breeds that you think are suitable as there may be some that i have been remised in looking into.

Once again, thank you everyone for being so helpful and honest. :o

not sure where you are (sorry on mobile so no locations) but if your in Sydney or central coast way always happy for you to come meet some lowchen friends first hand to get a feel as Darkrai said we're always happy for our pups to go to apartment homes providing they're adequately cared for.

  15. something to consider being a smaller dog.. as usual I'm a touch bias but lowchen.. they come in active and lazy lol. we have 3 here who spend all day inside in their crates or the bathroom or our room (depends on which dog as they're not all equally trusted) they are not big barkers except if there is something to bark at. low/non shedding, yes they require clipping but you can leave them grow the lion cut is merely for show, our girl is clipped like a poodle atm.

they are intelligent, eager to please, willing to learn tricks, will happily go for a walk/run or laze about, cuddly, playful I mean what more could you want... spitz breeds can be really noisy and daccys well my boss breeds them and I have found them to be spontaneous barkers... they aren't the most social of breeds either but that's just me, I do love them but don't think they're suited for apartments

  16. I know at OHs work as his boss only has poodles, and we have lowchen and lakies its a limited number of classes we can enter in a comp as breeds have certain eligibility classes we tend to swap dogs around or thru the salon they source clients who have suitable dogs and in return bath and dry the dog for free in the lead up. we ask around to friends as well. I'm lucky as my boss breeds and owns a few breeds so I can source suitable dogs from the kennels.. I'm borrowing a schnauzer and my girls half sister from her :)

What sort of creative can you do on a Schnauzer?!

I understand that a lot of the regular grooming classes a lot of groomers borrow dogs from breeders/friends/clients etc. But do people really borrow Standard and other size Poodles and Bichons etc for creative competition?

yes people really do borrow others dogs for creative people are fully aware prior to the comp exactly what must happen and what's involved

lol my schnauzer and my lowchen are for regular classes.. the schnauzer goes into Terrier and More, and I'm putting the lowchen insalon freestyle in which im attempting to trim her up like a poodle lol! I've only been learning to groom and practicing using my bosses dogs for about the last 7-8 mths... so I go in novice class lol I'm more doing this for a confidence boost to show people I can do it... I have ideas for creative in the future but they're not nearly as extravengent and over the top as these though

  17. we advertised our pups on gumtree as well as DOL because they were pet quality and we wanted nice pet homes why wouldn't you advertise in places where pet buyers are likely to see them.

I know my boss who is also an ANKC registered breeder advertises her pups in the trading post as she wants nice homes for them and the average Joe looking for a pup is gonna look in places like the local paper and trading post and atleast she gets a chance to educate people at the same time and her pups end up with decent homes.
