Imwvic - are you able to urgently whizz in a letter to the DPI pointing out this one point? ETA: If AWA were not privvy to it, who analysed the results of that survey?
-
Seems the link to "Parliament Live" is down as well? Another "404" message. Nope - seems it is ok, although audio seems a bit out of sync with video at this moment.
-
I received a response to my correspondence from the DPI to my "recent correspondence" (not sure which of the 3 letters they are responding to, or perhaps all?). Anyway, the wording sounds familiar : This is my proposed response to the above : I am currently experiencing computer issues. Strangely, both computers have been affected, although in different ways. I'm currently looking into the situation. If I am off the air there are one or two of you who know how to reach me should it be necessary.

Good work and thanks for that post, APBT. That will save people a lot of time/effort as I presume they can just do a copy/paste straight into their "To" (or "CC" or "BCC") box in their email? I've been using the "BCC" component and like you, I grouped them. If you send too many all at once, the system has a hissy fit and crashes. Not worth the risk of having to re-do it all. Learnt that the hard way . There's still time, everyone . Hey Casster17 ..... I've just emailed you ;).

Maybe people there think this is something that doesn't and won't affect them, because they are not in Victoria. The danger is that if it comes to Victoria it can more easily spread interstate. Good onya, Kateshep . Have responded ;) Good work, all . Cheers Erny

*BUMP* .... there's still time ;) to the efforts made thus far. Good onya guys. You all know who you are .

In essence, I agree with the above. However, I've also found that people quit quite quickly in trying to bring out the drive in their dog (even if it's only weak at the beginning) and build on that. I've seen dogs whose owners have said their dog just simply isn't a game of tug or playing with toys, who persist and in a few weeks their dog has 'bloomed' and is even more motivated for the tug than it was previously for what the owners thought was their dog's most favourite motivation (eg food; praise). You can take drive, nurture it as you might a precious plant, and have it bloom in front of your eyes, with some dogs. IMO it is worth trying and not quitting on too soon.

She will toilet when you are around - you don't have to have her right in front of you for her to do it. It will take your patience and a bit of inconvenience time wise, on your part, though. I don't think "lots of beds" to cover whole deck will work. If she's not sleeping on them then it is not her sleeping area. Re-arrange it so that the kennels aren't spaced out where the dogs have to have the whole of the decking.
-
Restrict the amount of space she has to the decking so that there is only room enough to reach her kennel, water and food. Dogs are less likely (depending on their upbringing) to soil the areas where they will sleep and eat. When you are home you could quadron off the decking area altogether and keep an eye on her. When you see her toilet where she should be (in the yard) praise her and give her a treat. Keep some of her most recent poop and put it in the yard where you want her to toilet. These are those times when I don't always collect every bit of poop from the yard, leaving at least one or two of the more recent ones. Make sure that the detergent you're using to clean up is not ammonia based.

Good one, Sumosmum ETA: This is not the full list of MLA's though? There are 78 Members in the list I have. :D

Hope the Police stay safe and unharmed too. -
I was going to put up the link to the "Members of Legislative Assembly Contact List". I've put it up once or twice in this thread, but figured to make things easier to find, I'd put it up again. I noticed the link doesn't work any more. Another "404" message. Like the one that occurred to the Parliamentary Research Brief paper, link. There one moment, gone the next. Coincidental? :D

Please don't give up on this now, anyone. Letters, if you haven't done any (or have more to add) even at this stage of the game can prove to be helpful. After all, if we relied on the assumption that the proposed Bill would be read when originally scheduled, we all would have stopped trying back on 20th May. Since then there continues to be many communications to Government objecting to the laws within the proposed Bill - more, I think, than the Labour Government originally thought the proposed Bill would attract. In fact, I think they might have thought it was going to be smooth sailing for this Bill through Parliament, not realising how crazy, wrong and extraordinarily problematic and unfair these laws will be if they were passed. So, boring as I know it all is (I have better and more fun things to do too), please make the effort to write in. I think you'll be pleased that you have, once you've done it . As I have mentioned before, if anyone wants me to send them my most recent letter (it refers to the recently revealed Parliamentary Research Brief and is 8 pages long, a bit too much to copy/paste here) PM me with your email and I'll send it. Either this letter will help you understand the possible impact of some of the laws proposed within the Bill so that you can more easily form your own letter, or you may write a short covering letter confirming your objections to the proposed Bill being passed by Government and asking for answers to the questions raised in "the attached letter". Or both :D.

Pro-K9's Foundation Level Classes forms the basis for the beginning of drive training and explains the basics for how to use this to enhance obedience command responses.

I have a great interest in Schutzhund and consider it a fine sport for the high level and value disciplines that it teaches both dog and handlers. I don't do Schutzhund though, not for any reason other than the logistics of time and timing, so I can't answer for them as far as the teaching of heel is concerned. But I'd be very surprised if they didn't use training in drive techniques to achieve it.

Have sent the most recent (8 page) letter I prepared (with corrective edits - thanks to those who helped with them ) to the 78 or so MLA's, this evening. Marked "urgent". AnnieK - I meant to give you a call today to thank you for the photo's you took of Mandela. I really appreciate them. I will try to give you a call early in the week .

Well be careful you don't 'zap' your dog, LOL. (Actually, I find it doesn't 'zap' much if at all, but I'm ready for it to happen, ) My boy's (blue) blanket has a choo choo train sewn into a corner. He is so pleased. Yeah. (Won't tell you what's on the pink one - he'll get a complex)
-
I bought some of the $3 ones from Coles. Nice. Warm. Light. Quite nice. But has anyone else noticed the amount of static electricity they create? With lights off at night time, I have seen the blue sparks of light the blanket gives off just from being picked up and moved. I also see it if I rub my hand on the blanket in a way of stroking my dog. Not short tiny sparks, but big enough to light up my fingers in the dark. It's a bit weird, really.

LOL .... what, and we'd have to sit there listening to what they say but would be effectively gagged?!!! ..... I don't think I could stand it !!! You would need to gaffa tape me and bind my wrists and ankles!! It will be enough to be viewing them on their online TV via my computer. At least I'll be able to verbilise my frustrations (or tribulations, perhaps ). At least I can have a drink in hand whilst I am watching them. I was informed by Parliament staffer that on Tuesday is when business is normally set (don't think they are the correct words - they have so much jargon it's difficult to keep up with) and that they may have an idea of where on the list of business (or whatever) the Bill is come 4pm Tuesday.

Doesn't mean we should stop reminding them that "Justice" and "Procedural Fairness" is supposed to be a part of our system.

Liver Problems, Advice Needed Pls
Erny replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Dogmad - this is the way I see it, objectively and I guess a bit clinically, speaking. You have to go away and there's no changing that fact. Your friend is ok with looking after your dog even though there is this undefined illness. Then there are the options for your dog. PTS because you are concerned about her settling in to a different home whilst she is unwell. Let her see how she settles - it will go one way or the other. My opinion? If your friend is capable of looking after your dog and ensuring that veterinary attention is and will be available to her whilst you are away, then give your dog a chance. Being cold about this (because I'm trying to be factual rather than emotional), what is the worst scenario that could happen whilst you're away? The same outcome as what you are thinking, but at least with the chance thrown in, I think. And know that YOU will more likely be worrying more than your dog. Ok - now that's said .............. I know exactly how you feel and what you mean and the turmoil you would be experiencing. I'd find it dang hard too. I hope you can find what's causing the issue and medicate to remedy or at the very least, steady it, before you go away. -
The rules of Natural Justice and Procedural Fairness are (and I think I did put them up in this thread somewhere, but so they are not forgotten, I think they are worth repeating) : http://www.ombo.nsw.gov.au/publication/PDF...ral_Justice.pdf

Yeah - that's fair enough. But is it part of ANKC's function to protect groups/members from unfair and/or bias laws at all? If it is not, then I guess it is its choice whether it decides to go into bat for any member or member-group. I could ask the same question of VicDogs as well. What exactly is their direct function, other than being a registry of dogs?
-
So ANKC isn't completely blameless, then? Or is it not their job to 'defend' ?
