Wanting To Avoid Fear Of Storms
TangerineDream replied to pawsaroundoz's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I've always got a bowl full of the bestest, droolingest food (eg: cabanossi, cheese etc) and gone and sat out undercover in storms and fed them piece by piece by piece while rabbitting on about nothing in general (you know, the condition of the stockmarket or the method of road sealing in Wisconsin) all the way through storms (and not reacting or reassuring them by voice or touch at all)...after a few false starts (and particularly on an empty stomach) all of my dogs have come around.......to the point where if there was a storm brewing, they would go and sit in front of the fridge...... -

Pancreatitis Diagnosis...
TangerineDream replied to Sticks1977's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My last GSP had pancreatitis and his diet was changed to a dry food that had 8% or less fat (that was the cut off point for him with dry food) and chicken mince boiled in the microwave, then into the fridge to cool and then all the fat scraped off. He could have VIP roll in the mornings and was fed the chicken mince mixed with cooked rice and oatmeal at night. Never had another attack, but I became the food nazi and no-one was allowed to give him anything without my approval.....no bones, no bacon, no ham, only tiny pieces of cheese. Once you stabilise your dogs diet and his health, you have a good chance of keeping him healthy and comfortable. Also you will learn the signs that Fraser has an attack building up by the appearance of clear mucus in or around his stools...at that point, go straight onto boiled chicken breast, rice and yoghurt and no dry forood for a few days till his gut settles down again... Lots of luck..these things worked for Cadence - they may not work as well for Fraser though as every dog is different - there's some experimenting before you get it settled. -

The A80 was a fabulous little cmaera, but upgrading to a Canon 400D (which is what my other shots were taken with) has opened up a whole new world!! But can't recommend the A80 highly enough!! -

Dam photo was taken using the Canon Powershot 80 point & shoot, and that's all I can tell you because the original file with all the data is on the old computer hard drive and I can't access it. -

Got chucked out of work early today so thought I'd make the most of the remaining light to paddle around in the long wet grass next to the Little Coliban River in Tylden in Victoria's central ranges after the 300mm or so in the last 3 months. (click images for biiig pics) -
