  1. We had one 11 years ago and had it cut out with no subsequent dry eye to date.

The breeder said that the ones that are stitched always seem to pop back again.

The dog had it done on a midday one Saturday, and was in the show ring at 3.00pm the same day, scored a challenge and no one would have been any the wiser.

After that experience I would only opt for complete removal.

  2. Oh PINK! Mine is boring old yellow. It doesn't have heat but heats up from the motor within minutes. I would love a pink one.........

We must have the same one Clyde, you can actually see the water shoot out of their coats!

Ours would be well over 10 years old too, it has never been serviced and certainly had plenty of wear.

It owes us nothing and if it died tomorrow, I would not hesitate on replacing it with another Oldfield the same........................but maybe in PINK! :D

I would love a pink one too. :D

  3. Hi Barly,

We have a liberty and an oldfield.

The liberty was our first one and is now the one we keep in the trailer to take to shows.

We far prefer the oldfield for the Saints, it shoots the water out of their coats so easily and is just fabulous.

I did however, nearly blow my mum's Cav off the grooming table when I put it on him. :provoke::)

  4. In his hey day, Chester would hump any leg that was sitting on our lounge, and one stupid visitor didn't realise that when she lifted her leg up and down trying to get him off, that she was actually stimulating his ride!

Nowadays, he would rather stay in his comfy spot on the lounge, however if he is on the floor and there is anything moving, well he still thinks it is fair play!

When our grandson was crawling he often fell victim, and he would see Chester coming towards him and would say 'Ah Ow'!

Now 2 and a half years, he tells all how much he loves Joanie Mae, Billy Jack and Ah Ow!

And at 10 years, 23 years and 11 years respectively, we cannot imagine life without our veterans.

All three are the best of mates and are often seen cleaning and preening each other.

Thanks stonebridge and Wazzat Xolo for your congrats, we certainly know how blessed we are:- sharing their twilight years is such a reward!

  5. Here is a recent pic of our Chester, "Australian Champion Bratrice Just in Time," with our 2 year old grandson.

He is a tad grey around the gills now, but at 11 years one would expect that.

He will still bolt up to the front gate if a stranger comes and he continually tries to hump the girls, is really still a puppy at heart.

I factually know that his breeders have had bitches free whelp.

No words could ever express the joy that Chester has given to our family over the past 11 years, and there is definitely no price we could ever place on his being.

Whether people agree or disagree on their costs, is entirely up to themselves.

Just like a gemstone, it may be priceless to one and worthless to another, it depends exactly what one desires in life.

We count our blessings for everyday we have shared together and all I can say is that we know that we certainly got what we paid for and more.

  6. Thank you for your reply Alyosha.

Maybe there is a need for somewhere that does hire out?

Must admit that it is not something that I have given much thought to as we have our own too, but I guess there are people out there that don't show and yet would have the need for one at times.

And the problem when you do show, is that you need it every weekend so are not in a postiion to lend it out.

  7. there is a register for this called the pacers buddy system. Click on my sig.

Sorry Chewbacca, I am not an MDBA member so was unaware.

Good to know that there are people out there compiling lists of temporary homes for those in need. :)

Jed has many friends who have offered a wonderful support team but not all are that fortunate and I felt extremely sad when I saw the plea for help regarding the boxer in whelp at Wagga.

  8. I was just reading through the link regarding the Wagga fire and truly believe that in regard to all the recent tragedies there needs to be a register set up with names of people that can provide emergency pet relief in MANY areas.

Perhaps Troy could organise a link for this and any interested parties could add their names and their area in each state.

I will put my hand up for the Western burbs of Brisbane here, we are on acreage and would assist if needed.

  9. My heart aches for all who are lost, may you play happily at the bridge amongst many friends knowing that pain will never again come your way. :welcome::laugh:

Prayers for Jane today and hugs for all concerned, no words can ever express true feelings at times like this but one only has to imagine themsleves with a similar loss to comprehend such horrific grief.

The DOL community is a credit to you Troy, and here again, this surely portrays to all what being Australian is all about.

Rallying together, a helping hand and caring thoughts work wonders!

  10. One of my all time favourite's would have to be Shadow(The Golden Retriever) and Chance(the American Bulldog) from Homeward Bound ! Love the movie. Love the dogs.

    What about you?? :rofl::laugh:

I must also give the  for Shadow and Chance.

Shadow was such a wise old owl and Chance forever the attention seeker and in your face.

I so wanted an American Bulldog when I saw that movie and was disappointed that they were not ANKC recognised. I am also amazed that so many are brought in here despite that.

Lassie and Big Red both won my heart at a very early age too.

  11. I was told that it assists in the recuperation after a snake bite and also after tick poisoning.

Our kids all have a daily vitamin C tab in their food, a vet told me years ago that it can't harm them and helps keep their levels at a good rate whic in turn will assist them in fighting off many nasty antibodies.

And all I can add to that is it must help, cos it is Pensioners Paradise here I can tell you, we have more oldies than young ones!

  12. As long as your dogs are confined to a trailer to sleep in and they are not barkers, most Motels all along the way will happily accomodate you all.

We did it with ours a few years back and went right though.

I would recommend that if you are doing it you go all the way and make the most of all the tourist spots such as London Bridge, The Apostles, (well those that are left :o) The Blow Hole and The Loch Ard Gorge, which is quite amazing and unreal to climb down and see where the ship wrecked as well as the cemetery where all those retrieved bodies were laid to rest. There is so much history and amazing coast to see if you venture a tad further.

You will also find many lovely spots to stop and stretch their legs, lovely streams with fresh water, there were many others with their dogs who we came across, you just need to be responsible, keep them on lead and make sure you carry a poop bag with you too.
