  1. OP has stated they wish to go down the pets as therapy route, and therefore this is important unfortunately. None of the methods suggested sound stressful to me, I wish someone threw chocolate at me for doing things they like! Haha. I think it has been very stressful as the owners have not managed in 2 years to teach this dog to sit. Pets as Therapy as a goal is all well and good but not if the dog is stressed out. I am pretty sure there are a couple of well behaved but non sitting greyhounds that have trained and passed as therapy dogs
  2. Have a friend who uses one of these for her elderly black greyhound on their morning walks. I use the chamois type cool coats on my lot at shows, occasionally at home I think I might be that friend and yes perfect for full sun especially if wetted down in the sea like this morning at 7am
  3. I always think my Phoebe is seal - as she isn't a dark black black - nor is she grey or blue.
  4. and here's snowflake Nick from Vic :)
  5. I wonder how they get around registering that colour cause it's not listed in the standard. I think they register as black with white ticking, just as they can register as white with black ticking - for racing anyway
  6. Is that Stella & Ian's girl? Yep :D I have some pictures of her brother Bruno somewhere on back up. He is white and dun.
  7. Beltar, Annie will be pleased. yes I am getting orders through thank you - but all from people with real names so not sure if they are DOLers
  8. the dogs are already the responsibility of the owner - but some of the owners just leave the dogs with the trainer to get rid of when past their used by date and no - absolutely nothing would change my stance on the industry
  9. absolutely - and resource guarding is not restricted to greyhounds, so logic tells me that either all dogs of all breeds should be green collar tested - or none
  10. How do you know for sure? Did this fellow break in his own pups or did they go to be broken in when they were young?
  11. Over years in greyhound rescue, having the dogs handed over to me by the trainers, my opinion is that unless trainers have broken in the dogs themselves, then there is a high likely hood that live bait has been used at break in. Trainers often saying "he will make a nice pet he hasn't had a kill as I broke him in myself" Furterh conversation leading to comments such as 'well yes they all do'. So on the assumption that most breakins use live rabbits etc, then from there would also have to assume that the majority of greyhounds out there as pets have experienced "a kill" ANd of course they are lovely pets. I think the reason for suspending the current lot of baited dogs of because of what is preceived as an unfair advantage in them racing.
  12. MMMMM it is actually an ad for Sportsbet - someting that 'greyhound rescues' are not supporters of generally - hence they find the ad offensive!
  13. Week 6 of Greyhounds sheer elegance
  14. Week 5 of Greyhounds old Phoebe again - at the beach (again) Feel like everyone is ahead of me already posting week 6! I prefer to wait until the week is over, then choose the photo that represents that week.
  15. Haven't tried the tracking yet - I just changed it over this afternoon before I posted - had to search the manual to find it Will let you know ......
  16. thanks - I have an old version of lightroom on the big PC but tend not to use it. Am just doing basic lazy processing on the lappy. It is usually evening when we go to the beach due to summer dog restrictions, and of course I would need to adjust exposure facing into the sun, but not facing the other way as it is lovely low sunny light. With zooming greyhounds, well they are really too fast for this camera, no way I would be able to shift exposure compensation while they are running lol I have found the 'tracking' option and switched to that. So far I have used 'one shot' as opposed to continuous as when I first tried it, the camera took forever to catch up. Will keep playing as I am really enjoying having a light weight camera to take on long beach outings.
  17. they are wonderful Huga - I have trouble shooting into the sun with it as it blows out really easily. Here is one that I toned right down - not sure about it though.
  18. Week 4 of Greyhounds 'the shake'
