  1. What the? Soooo many freaking gorgeous women on DOL. I'm too intimidated to add mine now lol. I don't really have any anyway.. i'm the one taking the pics normally..
  2. Aww Teebs thats such a cool picture Got to love the Bullys
  3. Fluid apparently. He has been to the vets, a had small scab was found somewhere on his elbow and vet is treating for infection... pretty freaky huh?
  4. My ex has woken up this morning to find that his dogs left elbow has swollen to twice the size of normal. He's 12 and he's done nothing since last night that could have caused an injury. Anyone got any ideas on what the problem could be? He he is naturally going to take him to the vet but i just wondered in the meantime if anyone had this happen to their dog before. Thanks in advance.
  5. Thanks guys. She had another mild fit this morning about 10 hours after the shot was given to her, but not as bad as last nights. She went to the vet and got another shot and is now on 2 tabs per day to help control the seizures. She's staying pretty close to me at the moment, it's almost as though she knows she's not well and wants reasurrance..
  6. She's 11 years old. The fits were pretty bad, she was frothing at the mouth and flipping round and her head turned right back in a really awkward postion. It was horrendous. Just when i thought she had stopped she would have another one, and another Just spoke to vet she's just giving her meds for the moment to see if we can control the seizures and we will take it from there. I am scared to pat her in case i cause her to have another fit. It's really scary hey She's still sleeping right now.. What is vestibular disease?
  7. Thanks .. I am taking her shortly.. She woke up an hour ago and was looking at me but was swaying her head back and forth kind of like a person with Parkinsons. I am worried that this means she has suffered brain damage from the seizures Can anyone tell me if this is the cuase or is it normal for a dog to move this way after having a fit? Like will it go away?
  8. No it wasn't anxiety! Not long after that post she had a fit!!! I am told by the vet that the weird head and mouth movements was a small seizure which was then folllowed by a series of bigger ones... In all i think i counted 8 or 9 lasting roughly 5 mintues each but i don't know they seemed to go for a long time and then she would stop for a few minutes then start again. The emergency vet gave her valium which stopped it and Phenelbarbitone or something like that.. I have her here with me she will be seeing the vet first thing. Right now she is sleeping.. Honey is 11 but has been in perfcet health up till now. I don't believe she has eaten anything posionous. And it's note worthy that my ex has her brother who is on meds for fits.. so i don't know maybe it's genetic??? God it's scary watching a dog fit..I hope i never see it ever again i am so worried she will fit again before i can get her to the vet. I have been given a Valium supoository just in case but ugh still i pray she stays sleepy till then. I'm so worried about my poor girl..
  9. Hey all just had my older girl outside for a while with 4 foster puppies plus 1 older foster who is an older puppy. I fell asleep on the couch and didn't let her back inside in right away , which normally isn't a drama. She was only out there for an hour. But since she has been back in she is doing something really weird! He keeps rasing her head up and down slightly and her mouth is opening and closing but thern she will stop and then it will start again.. What on earth is this??? She is an anxious dog to a degree i guess.. i mean she is petrified of the home ice cream truck bell and thunder but normally she will quiver and be clingy towards me and hide under tables. But i have never seen her do this before not this weird head movement.. Can anyone tell me what this could be?? I am a bit worried hey,,,
  10. Urine and blood tests came back normal. I am wondering if it could be his meds - he is on Epiphin for fits could that cause excessive drinking?
  11. Thanks guys. Heart problems would have been the last thing i would have thought of! What sort of heart problems cause excessive drinking?? No weight loss if anything he could stand to loose a little weight. It's werid how he has only justb started drinking alot out of nowhere..
  12. Hey all , my dogs brother (who lives with my ex) has been drinking alot of water all of a sudden can anyone tell me what this could be caused by aside from diabetes? He seems normal in all other ways and is still eating well , his gums are a good colour. He's almost 11 and is in great condition. Any ideas?
  13. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to kill roundworm eggs in the environment like concrete areas ect? From what i have read they can be quite hardy. I have children and 8 very wormy puppies so i want to know the best way to get rid of them on the ground. I have read some horrible things about roundworms and children so i am naturally more than a little freaked out
  14. Thanks. It's just that she seems like she will be fine some of the time but then out of the blue will snap but will stop when reprimanded. I just don't know what to make of it or how to approach the situation of trying to get her used to other dogs again.
  15. Hi all, i have a foster here who's around 8 months old (staffy x mostly staffy) that has a fear aggression problem with other dogs. The story is she was going to be adopted by her first foster home untill their adult female attacked her- reasons unknown as they were not home at the time. Previous to that she was fine with other dogs. Obviously she needed a new carer ect so thats how she ended up with me. It was believed that she would still be ok with other dogs when she came here and she did seem ok initially. But i was taking her to the vets one day and had her on a lead to take her through the house to the car. My mellow 10 year old girl was in the hall way facing the other way not doing much of anything at all. I had stopped to get my keys and the Staffy x just went her seemingly without provocation. She has remained separate from my dog and my other foster girl. She seems ok with them through the back screen door initially but sometimes will snap at them through it at odd moments and again without any provocation from the other dog/s. She responds to being told no and will stop immediately if i rouse on her. My questions are -Would it be possible to rehabiliate her in terms of getting her to be good with other dogs again? And if so how do i go about that? efs
  16. Yeah that's what i thought at first too and yet i had another foster a few years ago who has a cesear and went on to feed her puppies no problems at all
  17. Suture is fine, temp is normal, and pups are feeding well. I am still suplimenting them though. She doesn't appear to have much more milk than she did a few days ago though, How long does it normally take to get their milk supply up to what it should be? I puppies seem to feed on her for ages and they're still ravenous when i put them on the bottle. They are VERY cute a couple of them try to lay on their backs while drinking on the bottle theyre so funny.
  18. She was desexed at the time of her cesearean so the uterus contracting wouldn't apply to her. Of course she's allways got access to water ect. Pups were born last Wednesday.
  19. Just wondering is it normal for a mother dog to pant while feeding her puppies? I just noticed her doing it and my dog is was not panting so it can't be from the temperature (and its not hot right now anyway). When she's finished feeding she stops panting. If this is normal why does she do it?
  20. Thanks How exactly does rescue remedy work?
  21. No idea i just assumed it was genetic. She seems to be a bit more concerned with them today she has started to clean/toilet them which is good. But won't stay and feed them unless i stay next to her. If i get up she follows me. eta yes it is hard work but very rewarding. I have to go feed some now i hear puppies crying.
  22. Yes she's allready been seen yesterday by vet and will again tomorrow. Pups are good but i am having to bottle feed all 8 at the moment. Mums got very little milk Is it possible that her milk supply will increase if i can manage to get her to feed them even if they'e not getting much out? (i will continue to bottle feed unless and untill her supply increases)
  23. I have a foster girl who just had a C section. She was oozing blood from her incision (suspected clotting problems) and was bandaged tightly for a few days and given vit K. All seems fine now. However i can't get this last bit of bandage off her because it's stuck tightly to her hair on her belly near the incision and it really hurts her when i try to get it off. She knows i am only trying to help her but she half looks like she will nip me if i persist, just out of pain though. Is there anything i can put on it to help loosen the sticky stuff? Thanks in adavance
