Excellent post Mystiqview.

Sorry I won't vote as their are so many reasons in this day and age why some can not take dogs back.

Most local dog sitter are giving up the job because many have been made aware of the great cost of insurance you need to hold should the persons that you are sitting for threaten legal action over any thing. :)

Well done oakway. Congrats on your BIS win... must also be a winner dry food that they really suits them :)
Thanks BC Crazy, It must be doing something as their dam was fed it also. But to be fair and honest to all, one size does not fit all. But in my dogs' case it sure fits the bill.

I have been feeding this food since it came on the market and have NO intention of changing off it.
They must be doing something right with this food as one of mine went Best in Show today and he has this dry along with his chicken mince daily.

Vanillian you have been given good sound advise that you asked for by ethical experienced breeders, if things go wrong in time please don't come back and complain.

Sorry, what's a dog got to do with it. When a guest leaves ALL bedding should be changed.
No, I do not allow dogs on other peoples beds.

Sorry, I lived in the North so only know Northern vets.
I am sure their are plenty of top ones in Hobart. Why not suggest they go to a dog show and ask the exhibitors, they would be sure to know of someone. Their is a show on in Hobart tomorrow. :)
My apologies that was today their was a show on. But check the shows on in Tas. on the Events Diary on DOL.

Depends on where they live. :)

All bitches can be different and I think this is a subject that may be best talked over with your vet.
We can tell of stories of nothing happening when a cycle is interfered with to horrific stories of what has happened when it has been.

Mine seem ok also with exception where the dogs pee on it. (I don't expect anything to survive that).

In agreement with the others maybe heart related and then the fluid build up.

If you're paying them money then you are a supporter of the RSPCA.

At last somebody that asked before they got a dog and not after they purchased it and found out that they had done the wrong thing. We do see it happen quite often here and many times there is little we can do help. We also have the smart ones that ask first.

Why not go to Dogzonline puppies for sale page.
Yep, have done. Just thought I would get some opinions of recommended breeders, as Dogzonline is where my friend Deb got her puppy from that has had a multitude of problems
Oh Wow! No, she didn't get the puppy from Dogzonline but from a breeder who is listed as an independent breeder on the puppy pages of Dogzonline. If your friend's dog has problems she should take it up with the breeder.
There is no way I would buy from the DOL puppy pages without a personal recommendation. Word of mouth is the best way to do it.
A personal recommendation isn't much good unless it comes from a known ethical breeder or a person whom may have purchased and is more than happy with that breeders service. I would personally still be wary of breeders that only breed for profit. I only recommend breeders that I personally know and will never knowingly do you any harm with the dog that is sold.

I have done both - done it myself, and used an agent. Even with a cluey exporter breeder, which I had last time I imported, and the fact that I work in a border related business myself, I was glad we had an agent. You only have to stuff up one thing with the vaccinations/treatments and the records to blow your whole timeframe and then you are really relying on the indulgence of the exporter or your own bank balance to board the dog for the extra time. The problem is not the countries of origin most of the time, it's our own requirements that require deft handling. The main thing with choosing an agent is choosing a good one - the good ones are worth their weight in gold, the bad ones - well, with those you'll be on the same level doing it yourself.

You stuff up one piece of paperwork no matter how slight and the dog can stay in the country of departure for another six months.
One test even one day out can cause a delay and all tests may have to be repeated.

Ah, but there are all types of breeders and you must learn to sort the wheat from the chaff.
I would do my homework and speak to a breeder that health tests and has/is producing top dogs in their field, ie = Show quality producing champions for the show ring or a breeder that produces quality obedience dogs that are also titled or a breeder of agility dogs that are also titled. Go to dog shows and speak to the breeders their and they will also give you guidance. :)

Before people reply to this forum I would suggest the you read the ANKC breed standard for that breed. :)

I usually find Petbarns so called great sale prices to be about the same as what I would ordinarily pay from some of the other local retailers.

Isn't there something in the Vet's Code of Ethics (or governing rules) that they don't perform cosmetic surgery on animals?
Vets make a small fortune out of cosmetic surgery.

Its not the normal kelp that most people think of. As far as we are told it is from a kelp with a specific origin.
