  1. She does :mad Nekhbet contacted me asking to use my dog as the sire, I initially refused but then heard how much we could make. Next time her bitch is in season we are sending her off to the vet for artificial insemination. I think this is the best way to complete this breeding as my dog is getting on now at 4 years old and has bad hips.

  2. Calm down you weirdos, lets not get in to a pissing competition about who has the best dog, as I will win. :provoke:

Nuh uh, my dog is clearly the most awesomesauceness. Forget your working dogs, throw a donut in those rocks and my beagle would fetch the shit out of it

I cant blame her, I would do the same.

  3. My neighbour selected and trained dogs in the defence force for several years. This will tread on everyone's toes, but the fact is he selected dogs (GSDs and Rotts mostly) from the pound. As adults. If they wanted to chase a ball all day and didn't back off when pushed, they got the job.

I dare say every service in Australia had that rigorous selection test at one stage

  4. itsadogslife do you have any video you can show us of your dogs or other dogs working using Koehler methods that you think are good and displays the benefits of the method?

Genuinely interested as I haven't really seen any dogs trained exclusively with Koehler methods.

I will upload a video to youtube later on and send you a link, I have a couple of old videos of dogs that have been trained using the Koehler method.

Huski, here is a video of a Koehler trained dog in training for novice

    ask away...

I do not think I would be able to last long at that club with that instructor..

  5. "Behaviours That Could Lead To Dominance"

A dominant dog is born that way.

Some dogs have assertive tendencies but this not the same thing.

I don't think there are behaviors that "can lead to dominance"

but there are behaviors you should not tolerate from a dominant dog.

But for the most part this is not relevant to the average dog/owner.

The over confidence in dominant dogs is the first thing you notice, they are not "clingy" dogs and they do not try to dominate every person or dog they come across.

  6. Melbourne Rally. Copy and paste from the NDTF facebook page.

NDTF - National Dog Trainers Federation (Australia)

The NDTF are proud to announce that they have agreed for their Operations Manager, Brad Griggs, to take on the running of a Melbourne based rally in response to the latest legislative changes pushed through the Victorian parliament.

Brad has been very active in the canine community regarding these changes, and is passionate about the issues associated with dog bites in the community, and also BSL.

The NDTF recognises the need to show industry leadership on this matter, and has donated a month of Brad's time and NDTF resources to enable the event to be as successful as possible.

The NDTF are proud of this announcement, and we sincerely hope the community can come together in the quest for a world class, science-driven animal management policy.

Lets hope all dog owners will support this effort. I think the government may have underestimated just how many people are disgusted in this law that has been rushed through and forced upon us. It is poorly written, and very damaging to innocent owners and their dogs. Please try to attend and spread the word. Thanks.

ETA. Brad Griggs will be on the channel 7, Sunrise show tomorrow morning at 6.45am. Sunrise has an app for mobiles, android and Iphone, and they seem to get the show up on the app quite quickly. So, if you miss the show and wish to view the segment, you can also find it there.

It is great that Brad is involved. You would struggle to find anyone better.

  7. Why no dogs? How can we encourage making dogs part of the community if we show up without dogs?

Peeing dogs shouldn't be a problem, the steps are concrete so it evaporates quickly. Pooing dogs won't be a problem as there are laws everywhere about picking up your dog's poo. Even the Oscars Law rally said the dogs must be pretty bombproof or you'd be asked to leave.

It will only take one incident to undo the message the rallies are trying to get out there. Many people underestimate the ability of their dogs to handle a large, worked up crowd full of unknown dogs. A dog scuffle would not have damaged a message about abolishing puppy farms but will be all the media latches on to if it happens at a rally about dangerous dog laws.

I agree. It is best to have a select few dogs attend.

  8. it depends what causes the reactivity. Decreasing the incidence of stumulation can sometimes frustrate the dog and cause a greater reaction when in fact you do end up meeting the taget of its anxiety. You cant fix behaviour by avoiding things. It's not always practical and not always fair on the dog either. I dont advocate people simply trying to shove their dogs into situations that elicit responses WITHOUT professional help but with professional help it can be a good learning experience for the dog.

Dog that scared of stuff have weak nerve no? people often come to me with weak nerve dog thinking he tough dog, good for police dog no? they say Jeff my dog so tough he bark at stuff, I say no your dog weak nerve and no good for work. My wife own labrador that tougher than this dog no? Aidan could train this dog with clicker no? he no train tough dog with fight drive like Belgian Malinois or Dutch Shepherd. I see tough dog like this in Europe.

    Jeff

  9. Brad Griggs was on Chanel 10 news interviewed outside Parliament House. He stated it wasn't a genetic problem and it is about time the government stopped treating it as such. They are treating the problem in a way to gain votes, and not stopping attacks

 To Brad, does anyone have a link to story with Brad talking?
