[bris] Lurecoursing

For all those that go to lurecoursing at Wally Tate Park, can you let us know how to actually get to the park?

We have a beagle club lurecoursing day there tomorrow and we thought we'd go for a drive this afternoon to make sure we know how to get there and we still aren't sure.

We went down behind the train station and into the carpark near the Wally Tate Park sign and there didn't seem to be a dog park in sight. We went for another little drive down Beenleigh Road and found the park a few hundred meters down from where we were. Problem is, that road that goes down beside the train station for the park is closed due to the construction on the railway station.

Can someone who's been there in the last month or so, please let us know how we get from the carpark near the mosque, to the dog park that looks like it's behind a skate park and some bush?

Thanks

Thanks varicool, I gather they only open that gate/metal bar when there's an event on and you can drive further in? Is that correct?

We went driving the streets around the park to see if there was a trickier entrance that we couldn't see.

Lets hope we know where to go tomorrow. I hope there's signs, or just beagles with their noses on the ground sniffing

Wow, that was awesome!

Our little champion Leia, I didn't think at all that she would be the one interested in the lure. At home if a ball is thrown, Sally chases first and Leia follows. I thought thats what would happen with lure coursing.

Nope, Leia (even with a sore tail) ran the course in full on her first run and scored 111 points for one run. Sally got about half way and decided to cheat and run down the middle and meet Leia back in the barricades. On the second run (they were very tired), they both took off, but just as the lure took it's first turn, Sally stopped and looked back at us and I called and I think Leia herd me as well as she stopped and turned around. We were told not to call out, but I thought Leia would be further enough away to not hear me.

I'm very proud of their first efforts at lurecoursing. Once Leia's tail is all better, we might take her out to an all breeds day and see how she goes.

Thanks for the directions too varicool, we did find it after we nearly fell into some of those holes in the dirt road. We thought that the bar may have dropped down and we drove around the back.. but just weren't to sure.

Will definitely be attending another day soon!

That's great news that your dogs took to coursing straight up Erin! It's so much fun and the dogs have a great time chasing and socialising. We're members of the Warwick club but since this weekend has been rained out we were considering making the long drive next weekend to Brisbane; never been there before but I can't wait a whole month for the next Warwick meet!! It's just too much fun.

My tiny Ella ran three half runs last month at Warwick for her first go. Normally she just comes along to cheer on Levis and his running partner Rubin. Not sure how she will go on the normal two full runs but I guess now we have an extra practice day to see.

Can't wait to hear how your next experience goes. Good luck!
