My labrador (female) does the whole "i'll look interested, but if you actually throw it I'll walk in the other direction and lie down!" thing. At least your furkid follows it! Sometimes I'll throw something and he'll just look at me as if to say "you're the one that threw it and you want me to go get it?" Other times he'll chase it like a maniac then lie down and chew it or bring it half way back and get distracted by a stick or a leaf or a shadow...
