Hello i have pure breed chihuahua puppies, and i adore them so but i have been having Huge issues with them.....

They are pets only....and i will be flying to Aussie with them as I'm moving over there.

The white puppy is Deltoro, hes a great little man..But from the day i got him he wont eat and drink...Only on occasion he has, hes now 12 weeks old and was sold to be at 5 weeks and 6 days old. At that time i was under the impression he was 8 weeks old....Only later to find out they had lied on his paper work just so he could fly...Grrrrr that makes me very cross....

So anyway when i got him he would not eat nor drink i was off to the vets.....

I have been syringe feeding, and he welcomes this and licks it, just like the vet has shown..its now been ruffly 5 weeks of this not to mention runny poos 2 weeks agao with blood in it...im following the vets diet which has improve his poos.

he has no appetite really rarely he will eat unassisted...he is very small a long coat and the runt of his litter....The vet felt that he has arrived with giardia and he has been treated for that even tho the tests came back negitive this did make a huge improvement along with AD prescription dog food and peptosol...the vet felt it was garidia because my healthy female dog caught it....shes had runny poos and she had a wee bit of vomiting...she has recovered nicely with treatment...But he still has issues... The vet feels that it could be brain damage? going back on monday for more tests. Im feeling defeated in some ways...also hypoglocema is a issue...so i have to be so strick with his diet......

some days i think should i let him go, but the vet thinks no....I feel sorry for him when hes sick :0( etc...and happy when hes running around playing...:0)

I wondering if he will still be like this at the age he needs to be fixed up because i dont think he would survive ansethic....with what he has been going through...

What would you do in this situation....?

I am not sure about your situation but wanted to send healing vibes your way for your little guy.

Hopefully there will be some chi breeders that will imput here but I though I would add the link to a chi forum started by one of the breeders. CHI FORUM. Maybe post the probs you are having in there and then specific chi breeders and other owners can post replies and hopefully you will get the response you need.

Good luck.

Maybe send a pm (personal message) to Sanrita or Kingslychi. They are chi breeders. We also have a chi forum here under the breed forums - in General http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=105948. Poor pup, I hope he gets better soon. Will he eat raw mince? My chi pup loves to eat raw chicken necks (I bash them a little with a mallet). It is his favorite and he gets very excited when he hears the bashing now!

First of all I don't think you should put down your dog / putting him to sleep. That's cruel, because it can probably be fixed. Keep going back to the vet. It may be the fact this Chi was seperated from it's mom so early. Especially small dogs are supposed to stay with their mom for longer than big dogs, and you need to do what the vet advises you to do. Also have you tried contacting the breeder of your Chi and asking about it? And also have you asked the Chi breeders on this forum? Keep us updated and good luck! Keep you in my prayers.

Hello Pupy. I noticed no one answered you on the other forum. ????? I'm sorry i have no advice except don't give up. A while has past since and i was wondering how little Deltoro is? I hope he is ok and wish you the best.

Hi Pupy, hope Deltoro is ok.

He is very young, and I don't think leaving the litter early would have been very good for him. And this may be the reason for your problems. A lot of chihuahua breeders wont allow pups to leave home before 10 - 12 weeks to allow for development.

What are you feeding him? Are you in Australia or elsewhere?

If he is hypoglycaemic, syringe water with glucose into him every couple of hours - between feeds, not too much, because that will satisfy him, and reduce his appetite. At this age, he should be eating 4 - 5 small meals per day, and if you are doing that, it will help overcome the hypoglycaemia.
