Hi to everyone,

Just wondering if anyone can help.

My circumstances have changed.

My beautiful hyper Female BCx has spent the past 6 years on 2 acres in the company

of two great dogs. She's been in her element because both are ball crazy. She's spent her days rounding up

& chasing them continually - who's needed cattle or sheep? Certainly not her!

We are now just me the dog & the cat.

Long walks are not enough for her - it's obvious she needs more. Not wanting to sound like a "soccer mum" -

I would very much like for her to become involved with dog sports of some kind.

Is it too late?

Her life has been pretty secular to date. She is not well socialised.

Unfortunately, she is suffering severe separation anxiety when I leave her.

She is extremely obedient, easy to train & willing to please.

Perhaps I should have posted to Behaviour?

Any thoughts, ideas & opinions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Jan

I'd certainly consider taking up some sort of activity with her. There's a wide choice of sports available from obedience, agility, flyball, herding, dog dancing just to name the obvious. Find some local clubs and have a look at what's available in your area. You may get more replies if you ask for this to be transferred to the Training/Obedience part. There are also any number of tricks you can teach her in the meantime that will help occupy her mind. If her separation anxiety is severe you may need to seek assistance from a behaviourist.
