Calamine Lotion

Recommended Posts

My girl just cannot shake irritation under her chin. It's not raw, just irritated.

She took 2 long courses of antibugs.

I wash her chin in Malasep about 2 x week (helps for a while).

We've looked at her diet, etc, etc.

We are still almost at square 1 with the treatment.

Is Calamine Lotion ok for dogs? Has anyone used it? Was it any good?

I would be using Calendula Tea instead of calamine lotion.

(Where are you Erny  )

Thank you for your advice.

Unfortunately the Calendula Tea treatment failed. It was the first thing I tried and followed Erny's advice. Maybe I need to try that again

You could try Curash baby cream/powder or paw paw ointment.

Edited to add that Malaseb is very drying also.

I would give it another go, I became converted last year when I saw first hand how good it was on a pug who was in a terrible state, she also had a secondary skin infection - the relief on her face said it all to me. I sponge bathed her several times a day - 3 weeks later she was looking fantastic.

Thank you so much for your help.

I am willing to explore all options rather than put her through yet another course of antibiotics. Thanks Andisa

Curash - that's a thought. Thank you lavendergirl

Chinese Medicine....haven't thought of that for her even though my boy is on Chinese herbs. I'll do the search on DOL too. Thank you dancinbcs.
