Sharpei Savvy Vets

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Needing to find a sharpei savvy vet in Adelaide preferably down south! My boy needs his eyes done and no vets have really understood his temperament.

Can some one also help with me symptoms for sharpei fever? My boys been acting a bit off as of last night and I'm worried as he just isn't himself

Have you asked his breeder for a recommendation. Or maybe look up the sharpei breeders in SA on here, and ask one of them?

Otherwise Pin Needham at Glenside Vet is where I go most of the time. Especially since the vets at Colonel Light Gardens have started having a vet and a nurse pin my dog down for stuff she would stand calmly for like vaccinations - not keen to go back there if they don't treat a dog by its merits.

She doesn't like poodle crosses but as best I can tell - none of the staff are poodle crosses and she will do anything for food. Including having a sore leg examined.

Or you can phone a few in your area and ask how many sharpei they see regularily.

Heather at All breeds rescue who is down south might also be able to help. Her "heart breed" is sharpei, and she specialises in rescue for them including getting lots of cherry eye surgery arranged. So she would know good vets for that.

Join Shar Pei Health - Education on Facebook if you aren't allready a member. Very knowledgeable bunch from all over the world and quite a few Australian members. My dig has never had it but FSF, normally one or both hocks swollen on back legs and in pain with a high fever.

You will need a thermometer to monitor temperature and give baby aspirin for pain and fever. There is lots more information on that page with all kinds of docs with contents of fever kits etc.

There is a member here Miss squish ?? She is very shar pei savvy and down south if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps look her up in the members list and PM her. oh that's Heather who was mentioned above in Mrs. Rusty Buckets post!

The two vets who have helped me with entropian on a chow and a Dogue are the vet on Dawkins Rd out north and the specialist clinic on Magil Rd .
