This Is What It Looks Like...

WOW!

Even more incentive to get the money together to have Kovu learn this

Question...will that dog do what was on the video under distraction from other dogs? I want Kovu to work like that even if a cat runs past (big ask, I know!). Kovu is also impossible to walk if someone is throwing/kicking a ball around :D

K9: the dogs that were at my training in drive workshop, complete novice dogs, with less than 2 weeks basic work were working in drive with 20 strange people & 6 other strange dogs...

In true drive you can make distractions disapear...

how how how how how do you do that?! I'm going to training and feel like i'm getting 3 good minutes out of it, and you get THAT in a day...

It's not really a day, it's every day. I've been doing this since last september so it's not overnight. But if you've got a dog with a lot of drive you can get results very quickly. I trained a Border-Collie to sit and stay in drive in a few minutes down at a local park. Blew the owner away :D

You will see Ruby's concentration start to go after about fifteen minutes so I stop then rather than push it, but she's still a pup, at least in her head.

Yes, sorta. I over-socialised Ruby when she was younger so she places a high-value on other dogs. But I can usually get her focus back to the prey.

Then you should have a ball of your own that Kovu wants even more

Isn't that annoying?! We get told "socialise, socialise, socialise" and then we get focus problems later on. Kovu has been left with zero focus when there are other dogs/cats/balls around :D

K9: Trained thousands of dogs to work in drive like this, if the dog has the drive, it will do the work...

My second favorite border collie in the world behind my girl Charmain is a georgous B/C explosives detection dog that was a rescue and had heaps of drive so she was trained up and is a fantastic little worker. When they have good drives all they want to do is work and she is a little ripper. To be saved from being PTS to becoming what she is in a very short time just blows me away. :D
