  1. henrynchlo You take things way out of context...pull your head in and stop trying to start arguments! Must be hard being so bitter. If you dont like the way we train then go tell someone who cares - good luck finding someone.
  2. i know k9force sells long leads and i have found them to be excellent quality. they come in real handy for so many things.

    Barking

sorry i have no advice to offer..but i just want to say how GORGEOUS your pup is!! Good luck with the barking problem...just so you know, there are lots of us in the same boat lol
  4. hahaha we are all guilty of that at one point or another... lol my answer might be wrong tho....i'd wait till the guru confirms...
  5. we tried everything on our husky, but in the end we had to get an injection from the vets for his tic problem. it worked!
  6. I'm no expert, but from what steve/K9 has taught me, i think you would do each dog seperately to decrease the level of distraction - in the beginning at least until you have built up time and distance. steve/K9: ...hope this isnt far from the truth lol
  7. No, no fighting, you'll just have to get in line girlie!! Be careful, steve's head will go *BANG* soon hahahahaha
  8. i never wash my girl. She plays in the river and with the hose every now and then. Apart from that she smells better without a wash and her skin doesn't dry out. I brush her every other day tho...shepherd hair is a PAIN!
  9. is there a reason you have to be on the right hand side? or as long as you increase distance can it be on either side?? ta
  10. yeah my girl came home the same day. she had the op in the morning and was home by late afternoon. I know that some places like to keep them overnight tho. Well maybe that is just for females. I imagine it is a bigger procedure for a female. He will be fine, and it is obvious you love him very much, well done on being a responsible pet owner, sometimes you have to make tough decisions when you love something so much, but i really think you have made the right one...let us know how he goes, i will be thinking of you 2
  11. i really have to agree with the replies on here, and if you are going to desex him as you said you have nearly decided to do, i really think you are making the right decision. You are making a responsible decision. My girl was desexed at 6 months my boy is too, and i wouldnt have it any other ways. There are so many things they can get sick from which are totally out of my control, BUT it is comforting to know that at least i have prevented what i can control.
  12. Thats a lovely offer k9 but I doubt there will many "instructors" who will listen. Most of the ones i have had experience with through *trying* to train ellie (not you!) think that their way is the best way and are scared to learn that it actually isnt. (i guess understandably scared mind you lol) So they go into defensive mode...(damn those negative drives lol!!) The problem is that, the ones that really need to be educated, are the ones who usually wont be open minded enough to listen or seek out the facts.
  13. i started my girl off with a check collar, but i wouldn't put one on her ever again after reading about the damage they can do even when used CORRECTLY!! Although i know a lot of who people love them and would never change, but that is just my opinion.
  14. I had a similar experience with my GSD, Ellie, just a couple of weeks ago. We used to go training at my local GSDC here in the Hunter region. About 3 weeks after i had started using a prong collar, the head trainer noticed it. He told me that she could not train at that ground or club with that collar on. I told him i had received lessons on how to use it correctly by a trainer (K9) and he said that he didnt care that they are illegal and it was not open to discussion. I was a bit taken aback as this was said in front of everyone, not quietly to the side. i since found out that the are NOT illegal in NSW - I came home almost in tears and wrote Steve an email asking him if he had given me an illegal collar lol. Of course he hadn't, but my step father called the RSPCA to hear it from them for some ammo. And they confirmed that they were legal and, although they wished otherwise, they had no evidence to prove they are inhumane. I was so frustrated and upset because I am looked on as being cruel and evil for using a prong collar, while the GS club in my region ONLY allows CHECK/CHOKE collars to be used - and they stand by watching while their members to reef their dogs around with a check collar (and many of them are not simply checking - they are dragging) but apparently that must be humane. Well i was going to write an email to them telling them just what stupid, misinformed idiots they were, but knew it would only fall on deaf ears – I didn’t waste my time. So I haven't gone back there again and i will find other ways to socialise Ellie. I will leave the job of ‘fixing stupid’ to K9 !! lol I am just really angry at the double standards and the way i am made to feel evil for the careful choice i have made for me and my dog. Anyways, at the end of the day, when someone tells you they are illegal you can just sit back and laugh at them because it is proof right there that they do not know what they are talking about. And who wants their dog to be trained by people who are not even up to speed with basic dog affairs? NOT ME! I might have to travel 3 hours each way to see k9, but it is worth every minute. At least he knows what he is talking about. Anyways i just wanted to tell you that i know exactly how you are feeling, and it is indeed a horrible feeling. They can make you feel like the most horrible abusive dog owner, but you should hold your head high in knowing that you are doing the right thing for you and your dog (and his neck!!) Rachelle
