  1. Mita and Esky ... well said.

Hey, Esky. I was thinking about you just yesterday and thought I hadn't seen you around for while, or have I just not seen you on the threads I've looked at?

Any news on May yet, Merna? You know you should all have laptops so you can update us from the vet hospitals :rainbowbridge: .

  2. Muttaburra - I like your idea of a sausage sizzle! Can my dogs come?? They like sausages!

But then again so do I and if I bring them I won't be getting any!

DABS is holding a sausage sizzle at Bunnings at Ashfield shortly. I am waiting for Norma to confirm the date with me and then I will (with her approval) start a separate thread to give it some publicity. The date she has given me is a Sunday and they are usually held on a Saturday so I am not putting it in yet in order to not confuse :) .

Stefie, whisper to May that George's sausages are yummy yummy yummy .... and I'm a vegetarian :) .

  3. Someone has to say it, why did you pull a very ill dog from being PTS when you don't have the funds for vet care. Why not pull a healthy dog from the needle? I feel really bad for her but can't understand it.

Jdavis, we know all the arguments and you have put them forward ad nauseum because you are generally the "someone". Funnily enough for people obviously so dumb in your estimation, we know that perhaps other dogs could have been saved instead of May, but Stefie, DABS and Seniors have been around for a long time and I don't think you are going to change how they operate and why should they change just because you disagree with what they do?

Back to May: can you let us know where she is Stefie. She certainly looks a beautiful girl and I hope she pulls through. Why is she covered in sores from wet cement? From the Pound? If so, surely they are failing in their duty of care.

  4. Have fabulous to read this wonderful news. Congratulations Little Tails. Marnie is one helluva cute little girl who will grow into a really beautiful adult.

(PS Everyone: There are photos of Manny (was Geordie and Marnie's bro) with his new mum and sister on the Shar Pei Thread in Sub Breeders Section. :) )

  5. Thanks everyone.

It's 3 weeks today since I said goodbye to my little Dusty. I printed off lots of photos of him today that I am going to scrap into an album. I look at his photos everyday and miss him terribly.

I still can't really believe he is gone :happydance2:

It's very hard and, as Anna says, they never leave you.

Silkies always seem to look like wise little souls, don't they.

  6. Hopefully dog doesn't exist and it was all a wind up. Alternatively poster came on here hoping someone would take the dog. Or maybe poster has given the dog away having discovered that it costs money to keep a dog.

    Sad whatever the story is.

  7. What does =/ mean?

To be maintained as a health happy dog, a Maltese needs constant grooming and all dogs need to be taken to the vet for check-up probably twice a year. Once a year, a dog needs to go to the vet for her annual vaccination and even if the dog seems happy and healthy, it doesn't hurt to take her in just to be sure.

Your dog should be microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, registered at the Council and desexed.

Have all these things be done?

I ask because if you need to ask what it costs to go to a vet, it sounds as though none of these things has been done and if you are first time dog owner, maybe you don't know the legislation regarding keeping a dog. Legislation differs from State to State.

I hope you and the little dog become good friends.

  8. Neighbour just called in to thank me for the other day and to let me know how the dog is.

Other neighbour refusing to accept any responsibility for what happened.

As well as being the owner of a restricted breed that has failed miserably when it comes to his obligations under the CAA, his dogs are also actively used for hunting and should have been kept in a child proof enclosure as per the CAA and the dangerous dog clauses.

    How is the old dog?

How stupid not to accept responsibility - how can he not be responsible when his dog mauled the other? Hopefully the ranger will not leave him alone until he complies.

  9. Cynthia,

What is "tardac"? I have had some issues with desexing lately - I have never desexed my animals before, just practised good kenneling.

It is a short term injection given to entire dogs around females coming into season. I'm sure more experienced people will be able to give you better information, but from memory lasts about 3 weeks.

I find that even desexed dogs will "mate" with females except they are firing blanks. Danny is about 9 years of age and he still humps cushions and bedding and I can assure you it is the real McCoy  .

My original dog, a Maltese, was desexed at 10 months still "mated" with his mother if we visited when she was on heat.

  10. I used it with Rover because he was much too old to be desexed when I adopted him (nearly 17) because he was obsessed with Tilly and just wouldn't leave her alone. Didn't make an iota of difference and we even added tardac to the mix :D .

  11. we havent been doing the every hour squirt down the throat, but when we noticed his pee bright yellow we are resuming it.

Is this what the naturopath gave you.

When you consider his size, this little guy has been knocked down by the double decker bus. Short bouts of fun and activity probably knock him for a six hence the long sleeps.

  12. We were thinking maybe he has a sore tum, so we boiled up some broth overnight, and gave him some of the liquid today, he did like it and dank a fair bit, even licked some of the solid waste.

A few hours later, he is prancing down the hallway to look for his *daddy*, walking round, with that tail wagging.

hes gone for a rest again, but im glad that his energy levels went up for a lil.

Oh! the roller ocaster of hope and despair and hope !! My heartfelt wishes for you all and that Bucca recovers and is well and happy again.

  13. Thanks for listening, all emotional and 'other' people think she is 'just a dog' :vomit: .

Naturally you are "all emotional". You love your girl and you are very worried for her. I don't think you'll find too many people here who think along the "just a dog" lines :) .

Chin up. . Keep us informed as to how she goes.

Belgian.blue, is there any way you can get the dog away from your ex to somewhere where she'll be given love and attention? What breed is she?

  14. What a nerve wracking time you and the breeder have had. I am glad you are taking the puppy. I wouldn't have been able to advise you one way or the other, but if I'd been so bold I would have said go ahead :rofl: :p .

I had a puppy diagnosed with a heart mumur on the day I collected her and took her to my vet. People asked me why I didn't take her back, which astonished me, because by then she was my dog, the way you have felt with your little one. She had lots of other things go wrong and didn't live very long, sadly, but her situation was entirely different from that of your puppy.

Looking forward to the first day home photos.
