  1. I still don't even have a bike for it! Fingers crossed I can do it with Banjo next year though :p Abbey got her ET title from the September event a few years ago
  2. ST, hopefully Ari is feeling better soon RosieFT, good to hear you weren't imaginging things - hopefully she is all better soon as well! In terms of ET... Non-GSD can do the ET in September. In fact I think even the test that they do is open to other breeds ;)
  3. I use Khonke's Own Kleen Sheen :D A horse shampoo ;) It is the only thing I have tried on Banjo that I get a good coat washing him the day before a show. With the added benefit of not softening the coat on the dogs too much as both my breeds need a harsh coat for the show ring! It is also a lot cheaper than most dog shampoo and has good stain remover properties :p
  4. Why does it have to happen? Why do exhibitor numbers have to continue to drop? In my breed I have encouraged 2 new people to give showing a go this year, they wouldn't even know how the point system works when they start out!
  5. I think we are budgetting around $4000 to get to Vic next year with 2 dogs (and 2 people) - then the other 4 people and 6 dogs going from WA can pay for themselves Will be worth it to have so many of our breed at one show though Editted as I just did my maths better...
  6. Yep, Pom was BIS Saluki ruBIS Baby French Bulldog Minor Kelpie Junior as per ruBIS Open as per BIS Group 5 BIG Sheltie rBIG GSD Baby Finnish Lapphund Minor Kelpie Junior Sheltie? Intermediate Bouvier Open as per BIG Neuter Welsh Corgi
  7. Very exciting RV! You make me jealous reading :D Hopefully you will have pictures to post ;) AP, I found my CN... but it is at home :p
  8. Yarracully, if you read the thread it has been said that it should be made harder to get a champ title with the suggestion made that a 25 point CC be required. 25 points after 12 months was a completely different scenario ;) Also there is a limit to how many dogs you can take on a plane...
  9. Boxagirl, I am glad to hear Bondi is improving Hopefully her appetite will pick up as well now RS, that is hard luck about your phone There are some real low lifes in this world! On a good note, Arlo is now Ch Arlo :D Or Champion Mirawee Powers That Be He got his last points needed for his title today and was shortlisted for Group Lauren's other Lappy puppy Anikka also won Baby Puppy in Group making it two from two shows And Mr Taavi was a very good boy and remembered that he is meant to trot in the ring not impersonate a kangaroo I love showing other people's pups but really wish I have my own again soon! Banjo and Varda were good children but would much prefer to be doing other things than showing now
  10. True But you would expect the RAAF would take care given they would know what the dogs are like Out of interest, do you know what the fail rate is?
  11. Thanks for sharing! Please make sure you update us with how he is going in his new job when you enquire As for it being "all for nothing" if he turns out unsuitable and has to go as a pet... how many pets do you think get the kind of grounding he has had! As long as he goes to a home that keeps him active you will have given them a very well rounded dog ;)
  12. I wouldn't mind knowing the number without specialties as well Even assuming half are not all breeds though that is still 4x the number of shows that WA get :D ST, I definitely agree that normal shows split over should be dropped in WA! There was quite a bit of discussion on that earlier in the year on FB
  13. Sorry I find this post very condescending. I live in WA. WA is a LOT bigger than NSW, I was asking for the whole state as over here you do not get any country shows on the same weekend as Perth metro shows. So yes I am interested in all of NSW as you have that option ;) Actually you have the option of crossing the border a bit easier than us too :D A lot of people on here are saying that you shouldn't be able to get a Championship title until you get a 25 point CC (which to make it fair should be a 25 point BIG so that the dog breeds with less than 20 entered who have to win BIG beating those breeds with more than 20 entered are on the same playing field ;) ). To do that at breed level I have to travel around 3,500km. So giving me a lesson on how big NSW is in comparison to England is a tad harsh! How many times does NSW fit into WA?
  14. Not sure that dog dived AP! Looked like it fell in to me
  15. Out of interest how many shows do Qld, Vic and NSW have in a year? And how many different events on a weekend? I know Tasmania, WA, NT and SA? tend to only have one show whether it is country or metro. And in WA at least there are more weekends with only 1 (or no) shows than there are with 2 shows and we don't have any 3 show weekends.
  16. It is annoying when the vets can't figure things out MG. At least your vet didn't do what the initial vet who saw Kinta did - I was told that because nothing showed on the xrays it had to be OCD I asked for a referral to Liz Franks and went back to my normal vet LOL. Needless to say she doesn't have OCD ;) Varda is good today. She was pretty well on 4 legs before I went to the vet but as she was on 3 legs about 1/4 of the time I still went. By the time we got there she walked about 2 steps on 3 legs after sitting in the waiting room and then was on 4 legs and the vet couldn't see which leg she was lame on However, she confirmed with manipulation that it was the hock but by that stage she would fully extend, albeit reluctantly, whereas the night before she couldn't. I have to admit I was in two minds about going but since I couldn't take her the next couple of afternoons if it got worse again I decided to just bite the bullet - after all what is another $80(ish) consult :p I should just trust myself more I think but after the last few crappy days I decided to play it safe So poor Varda gets a bath tonight in case she is 100% sound on Saturday :D
  17. Thanks guys - have pinpointed Varda's issue to her hock so will see what she is like when I get home from work then book her into the vet on Thurs for X-rays if needed. CC, some countries don't require dogs to have a breeder's prefix in front of their name for registration purposes and before the change in regulations these dogs could not be registered in Australia I am assuming this is common with the Xolos in Mexico which meant they couldn't be imported directly from the country of origin but that has now changed Correct me if I am wrong WX :D
  18. Brilliant news WX MG, I know how you feel at the moment. Luckily I have accounts at my vets due to the horses so I can just go whenever needed and pay it off. I am currently looking for a rock to crawl under I don't know what has happened in the last 2 days. Got home yesterday to one yearling lame in his hind leg from a small cut near his heel, then most of you know I had to put down the other yearling last night after she broke her fetlock kicking through a shelter wall My arab mare has 2 swollen back legs and was walking gingerly (but bute fixed the walking issues and vet said to just leave her atm). Varda had a grass seed in her ear, took her to vets, left her at home while I went out to treat yearling with small cut, got back and she is now walking on three legs with no obvious signs of why! Removed a couple of grass seeds around her foot (but not deep enough I would have thought would bother her) and am now ignoring her hoping that she will forget she was lame. Anyone got a rock they can offer me? Or maybe even a deep dark cave?
  19. Having dogs that aren't that motivated by agility I don't generally stop and go back as that is very demotivating for them. And as said if the dog misses a jump that is usually either my handling or my training so it is something that needs to be worked on away from that course. At training if it is a sequence that they stuf up then I redo the sequence (and fix my handling ) With the more motivated dogs who sometime decide to make their own course up I stop, get the dog back with me and focussed and then continue although not necessarily at the first jump they missed. In most cases they are well and truly DQed by then anyway
  20. It was a good night out Although I do wonder if an OH&S supervisor has ever witnessed the entertainment Was good fun to watch though :D I got home around 1am and them tried to get up at 6am... I think I finally managed to get up just before 7am as I needed to ride a horse before going visiting puppies. I really really didn't want to go back to work today though!
  21. Looks like the iphone 4S camera is great outdoors and average indoors That is an improvement though :p Well done Oso! Your dogs definitely are brilliant :D
  22. Horty, I am assuming Rach is going to Mandurah after Wanneroo Show... which is a week too late
  23. Hope all continues to go well Boxagirl Don't worry about the long post - it is interesting information particularly not having to go through it first hand! And yay for CleanRun :D http://www.cleanrun.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.display&page_id=137
  24. Saturday at Wanneroo for 2 of the Lappy babies too... who both love cuddles
